- This is a clip of my stream where I battle Bonetail at the bottom of the Pit of 100 Trials for the first time in the remake. At 10 HP, of course.
I didn't talk much and increased the game volume for this clip. We all know the battle theme was the true highlight.

I'm sure a lot of you already know, but on May 23rd 2024 the remake for the GameCube CLASSIC Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door released for Nintendo Switch!
So yeah you can tell I REALLY liked Bonetail's battle music. That theme GOES HARD. Definitely a contender for my favorite. But I think the Sirens/Shadows/whatever you wanna call them have Bonetail beat.
CZcams does have a 12 hour stream limit, so I probably won't finish the game in one single stream. I'll be back with more once I've gotten some sleep.
Also keep in mind I won't be reading that much text or talk to NPC's. This first playthrough will be a first look at mechanics, oddities, classic exploits and general game-feel/improvements. A more slow and casual look is sure to come later.

I will of course try to pay attention to what's new. The Shadow Sirens and Vivian changes come to mind. Though I am also very excited for all the changed and BRAND NEW music.

Every single song in this game fucking slaps now. Plus the intros for each dragon have been animated a lot more and have intimidating ass lighting. It's crazy and I love it. Can't wait to reach Bonetail on my own.. Hopefully not at 10 HP

I just dod Chapter 2 pit to be safe. Gale Force Flurry really cuts away some of the BS by a milestone
Had 5 HP with 5 Power Rushes and 1 Mega Rush. Also, 3 Power Pluses, 2 Defend Pluses, and 2 Damage Dodges.
Someone tell this guy to do Pit again for literally no reason whatsoever :)

so much was on the Line(i didnt wanna start over...screw these spiders in particular)
and after beating this dragon
the feeling of success was BEYOND massive
The remix is incredible, i cant wait to fight Bonetail with 2000 HP, 25 ATK, 3 DEF with fogs
They love their "idle" music variants so much from Origami King so much that they decided to reuse it here and it WORKS SO WELL.

The vocals at the very beginning and when the song loops gives me major goosebumps EVERY. SINGLE. TIME.
Nintendo has to do something like that again on their next Mario game, because I love that shit.
When you stacked all that defence, only for Bonetail's attacks to be defence piercing anyway. 😅

I feel really good for any kids who play this without watching guides/streamers/whatever and reach Floor 100 to be met with this boss and his sickass theme completely blind
I know I was blown away back when I first saw Bonetail back when, and if he had had this theme I probably would've started dancing too
She’s actually properly translated into being the eldest of the dragon sisters this time, but yeah the theme is absolutely kickass.
When I went down to the pit around chapter 3 I got greedy and went down to floor 100 and lost 3-4 hours of progress because I was obviously underleveled if I had Power Lift I probably would have won if I came prepared, when I round 2 Pit of 100 Trials #1 I wiped the floor with Bonetail with Yoshi on Steroids using Power Lift, an item you can buy in Glitzville that makes you bigger which increases Damage by 2, and a few turns of Charge. In like 3 turns for attacking Bontail was dead. She was Gonzo which is ironically what I named my Yoshi.

I did the Pit of 100 trials before I got Bobbery and it was the most stressful experience ever, I didn’t even register the music

This theme is so cool! To me it sounds like a super paper mario song in the modern paper mario soundfont. Some of the lines are very similar to Count Bleck's theme.

I was nervous for this boss since when I was a kid I spent 2-3hous doing the pit just to die at bonetail. Turns out it's not hard when you have actual good badges and BP

I went down to do the pit just after chapter 2 practicing for pre hooktail challenges and hearing this remix made this boss fight easily jump up for top 3 in the series for me
I somehow beat Bonetail right after beating Chapter 1. Both Goombella and Koops died pretty quickly and I had no items. I just kept spamming Fire Drive and Sweet Treat as I slowly chipped away at her health. The afterburn from the Fire Drive dealt the final 1 point of damage. I went into the Pit at level 8, and came back level 21.
I finished the pit after beating Chapter 2. Chapter 1 Pit is dificult but Flurry really Cuts away at the Patting from the Flying enemies since Gale Force has higher Chances to work against flying enemies.

@@cursedpotato64 What's worse is that I entered the fight with Mario at half health (15/30). And it took A LOT of deaths before I finally beat Bonetail.
I beat her pre chapter 3. Cleanly took out half her health with peril goombella over the course of five turns but then had to slowly lip lock her to death over the course of fifty turns
I just recently clutched this fight so hard. I went with the Power Lift stat storage + charge strait with Yoshi while I had Mario just defend for his life with all the defense badges I had on me.
It took like 4-5 bursts of +10 charge attacks from Yoshi while I try to survive with Mario throughout the entire fight.
Will there be a Book of Mario for the remake?
Just did the pit, regular play after chapter 5, ALMOST DIED TO A 5 SWAMPIRES WITH RUIN POWDER, they confused Mario and Bobbery, I didnt know the timming of super guard for them so I randomly got it, I was left with a 1HP mario and 2 HP bobbery and no FP, luckily I got fog on my side and managed to superguard the incoming attacks but still, it was so much BS and I was ready to throw the run, when I got to Bonetail it was a breeze compared to that…but pre hooktail…pre chapter 2? People is nuts

I’m so used to them getting something wrong.
There is 1 thing, only being able to do 1 trouble center quest at a time
The remake has tones of flaws. Slightly Longer loading times, 30 FPS, Set Dialogue speed and No scrolling back dialogue. This is far from a definitive Edition to play this game, but I do think it is mostly preferrable to play than the gamecube version.

@@ovite1240 Remake is Better in a lot of areas, but for a quick playthrough, The Original is better. The timed saved from the QoL features in the remake is lost by the set speed of the dialogue

Bonetail was always female in every version EXCEPT English for some reason, this one just makes it accurate to Japanese like every other Country was.
Bonetail was translated as male for some reason when she was always the oldest sister, so the remake just rectified that.
Honestly Bonetail might have the best and most fitting song for all the bosses.

The only music I think the original did better was the Dusk theme on the Excess Express. The new one took away that instrument that made it serene and replaced it with a violin. It's not bad, but the original definitely did it better

I'm surprised that no one is pointing out that on the remake bonetail tattle log is a she but on gc is a he so it's clearly that the real trans is not Vivian but rather bonetail .
That just to make it consistent with every other dialogue version. In the original, everywhere except America had Bonetail as female. This game is far more accurately translated, which makes this more apparent.
One of the few tracks in this remake that's a straight upgrade to the OG.

Between the Shadow Sisters, the Tail Sisters and the Shadow Queen herself, the developers were really on some "girlboss" energy with this game.

Correct. Had to check the EN Tattle. He was male in the GCN version, but apparently female in JP, which the remake takes after.

I love how everyone is saying the music slaps when the instruments are taken directly from the sticker star/color splash/origami king entries, hah.
the music is generally the lowest thing on the list when discussing the issues with papercraft mario, because for the most part it usually isn't one
I mean those games got the music right, even Sticker Star had some good music
Soundtrack was never an issue though.

Music was never the issue with Papercraft (which is what I'll be calling those games from now on), and instruments are merely the ingredients of which music is made. How they're used determines how good the resulting song is.

uuuuuuuuh why does an ultra shroom even matter...you only have 10 HP. Just carry more life and super shrooms as you get revival and full healing for less. Secondary question: Do the dragons still have that uncounterable bite attack that you can't superguard?
His partners have more than 10 max HP. Additionally, it's also pretty rare for the audience to throw you a Ultra Shroom.
@@reallyannoyingguy6625 Maybe so but in RPGs where the player character is king, you're gonna take the safer option in most cases. Should be noted that I'm talking from a casual perspective. As much as I love this game, you'd never catch me challenge running or speedrunning this game. I get the feeling that if I did, I might find a reason to dislike or even hate TTYD, whether due to a glitch or bad rng is up for debate.

I seriously doubt that. There's different words in Japanese to denote male or female. There's no way they'd confuse Bonetail's and accidentally genderswap her into male.

Yes it is. It's not that bad here, but it makes the characters look like they're "on" the environment rather than "in"/apart of it. It creates a visual distinction between the character and the environment, and it's ugly and immersion breaking.
30fps Sweet Treat isn't looking quite right
