Thank you very much for this upload. Most revelatory. Have always admired him, especially his Mozart, and believe him to be amongst the kindest, most decent and honourable people in the world of music. Remembering that his family lived in Thessaloniki, we shudder at the narrow escape they had: The Nazis invaded in the early 1940s and sent all Jewish people to be killed at Auschwitz. If the Perahia family hadn’t emigrated, we would not ever have known Murray.

My pleasure. Thank you for your touching and thoughtful comment. Murray is certainly a light for the world and his fellow musicians. We are lucky to have him.

I think what separates Murray P. for me from the rest of the crowd -- i never tire of his playing.....always interesting, full of unique colours and rubato....and it always holds together

Great to get an insight into the life of Murray Perahia. Love to see professionals loving Mozart. All the CDs I have of Mozart's music are by him.

I remember Murray well from P.S. 115 and JHS 22. He played at our assemblies and we were in awe. Destined for fame!

You should write about that. Just think back to the past and speak it on tape and then write it out and cut out things that are repetitive.

A wonderful pianist. He is also a great mentor to young pianists. There are many videos of his work working with young talent.

He is my absolute favorite. Every pianist has a persona and style but my favorite is that with Perahia the performance is never about him.
Also I newly discovered his edition of the Beethoven sonatas. Urtext. The real deal! Fingering falls quite naturally and allows for phrasing just like his!

his playing around the 24th minute really speaks to me, warms the heart. I dont know another pianist or artist who can achieve that.

Murray Perahia's complete recording of the piano concertos
with the English Chamber Orchestra has made a lasting
difference to understanding of those works, without
putting in the shade other greatly gifted pianists who
have recorded them. ~John Rosselli, *The Life of Mozart*,

Miss jeanette Haien made an exciting recording of the Mozart Piano Concerto # 16, with the National Gallery Orchestra, on an old 10-inch record. I've always loved it.

I recollect vividly the recital he gave in Shanghai Grand Theatre in Oct2011. His playing of Schubert's Impromptu D899 Op90/3 in G-flat in encore is probably the best interpretation of this piece of work I've ever heard. Thanks for sharing this valuable documentary.
