As a 90s baby I’ll always love this movie
I grew up loving this movie & Nicolas Roeg is my favourite director. I'd argue with anyone to this day that this is the scariest children's horror film ever made. Some genuine scary & also very creepy moments. The Erica story in the beginning is very creepy. I still think this is a scarier horror in many ways than a lot that have been made for adult audiences.

If the 'Erica Story' is the one where the child disappears into the painting, then I COMPLETELY CONCUR! The most memorable part of the film for me, was that haunting tale. Loved Mai Zetterling's warm and wise portrayal as the Grandmother, also. 🪄
Don’t Look Now is one of my fave movies and has inspired masterpiece movies such as Hereditary

The fact that Michael had a minor kerfuffle because the hotel was letting his wife down says so much about how loyal and great this couple is. So happy that Jessica got to have her dream moment (s) with the witch.

Oh did y'all notice the squirrels running down the power lines near the front of the school?? I know they aren't mice or rats but I guess maybe in a way they are. One splits off and runs toward the school the other keeps going straight. Pretty cool😉

Yesterday was my paternal grandmother's birthday. She would have been 125. A day short of Halloween, but she had this wart on the tip of her tongue. She was a witch of the South.

There was a slew of incredible "childrens'" movies in the 80's--Something Wicked This Way Comes, Return to Oz, Black Cauldron, The Witches, The Neverending Story, all the Jim Henson films--that just wouldn't get made today. Those movies were my gateway to loving horror. And great quality filmmaking, too.
This was amazing Michael and Jessica, we were in Newquay in the Summer, and went around the grounds. Adore Cornwall ❤. Spent my honeymoon there in 2016 too. You both did an amazing job. And Jessica’s kindness to the grand high witch. Loved it all.

I’m in my mid 30’s now but I worked at this hotel for a few years back in 2006-2009 as a waiter/porter. Lot of good memories! As a huge fan of the movie as a kid I was obviously so stoked I was able to get a job there even if it did mean relocating at the time. Other than some licks of paint here and there it’s barely changed!
One of my favourite movies a s kid! I dunno how many times we rented this VHS from our local Blockbuster haha! Good times! (or 'Ghoul times!') 👻

Hi Jessica and Michael I'm from Australia thank you so much for going to this hotel and showing us where the witches was made. How beautiful I'm sorry your check in was messed up but you got there in the end. When you were talk about the movie and the fruit from the scones getting eaten reminds me of my sister when she was about 2 years old got into my mum's cream biscuits (like an oreo) managed to get the biscuits undone licked the cream out put them back together and back in the biscuit barrell.
My mum had visitors over brought the biscuit barrell out and had to apologize for my sister licking the cream out the middle my mum said she has never been so embarrassed in her life. I loved the honesty at the end. I can imagine how disappointed both of you were. Having to confront the manager must of put a dampener on what should have been an amazing experience. The hotel and the scenery looked beautiful and the locations you found at the being were real gems. I love an honest review and the both of you are genuine people, that's why I watch your channel. Oh I would of been so annoyed too. Coming so far for that to happen. And the money they spend staying there totally wrong how the hotel went on with them.

It’s not ranting, it’s real life and your not going to sugarcoat it, which is what we want. Grew up on a spanish channel called Telefutura that would play The Witches, Goonies, Poltergeist, the boy who could fly, Home Alone, Back to the future, The neverending story, Dennis the menace, Addams Family, Little Giants, Edward scissor hands, The exorcist, Child's play... and lots of 80s and 90s movies. It is the reason why the witches is one of my favorite

This was fantastic. Love the obvious enthusiasm and knowledge you both have regarding this movie. You mentioned the Hammer movies too...its a shame that most of them were done on amazing sets so you can't do much with regards to finding locations.

Man I remember reading the book and then when it came out, seeing the movie in theaters as a kid. Both absolute classics and the illustrations of the Grand High Witch in the book freaked me TF out when I was little!

I know Newquay very well. Used to holiday there as a child then !y mum moved to just outside Newquay in 08.
It's a beautiful place & has lovely beaches . I'm the summer the sea is Crystal clear, & there's dolphins, seals, basking sharks etc.
The witches was one of my favourite films , return to Oz, & The worst witch are my top 3 childhood films. 💓💓.
