Valdivia is one of that players that have an absolute control over his body and the ball with it, that's what is special about him and the players that are called "10's", they create opportunities for the team to score goals in almost every way possible and the other team can't ignore someone like him because if he's not scoring or attacking...he's recovering the ball and making that godly passes (probably the best at it, that precision and visual to do that passes is unique to him, i'm pretty sure no one in the world have that visual and thinking in football, it's his best weapon) to their partners, attracting the other teams attention to him with more marks looking at him rather than to his partners, using that capacity to dribble and generate opportunities to score...and enjoying the game, he enjoys every game and that's important.
Like him you have like 2 or 3 more, but in the base....he's probably the last true "10" of the football.
If you want to see more 10's check Juan Roman Riquelme from Argentina, he's more tactic and less dribble, but similar to Valdivia and probably the same exact quality of a 10, just a little different.
EDIT: and you ask why is he looking away when he does some passes? it's just tricking the other team to look at his field of view, where he's looking rather than the ball and it's trajectory, when i said "generate opportunities to score" is at THAT level of generating opportunities to score, hes a trickster and dribbler in every way (like a 10 should be) and that's what makes him a big threat to the other team, and the best 10 in the history of Chile.

Jorge Valdivia the last 10 😔 he didn’t played in a big of Europe because he wasn’t disciplined, he like the party and drink 👀 and yeah, he played in Palmeiras (Brazilian league’s) , probably the most similar player is Riquelme (from Argentina). Valdivia used to fix a game in 20 minutes creating at least 3-4 opportunities of goal, was insane, he still, and like you saw it he’s crazy jajaja. He play now in first division of Chile in Union la Calera and was part of the gold generation of Chile, champion of America cup 👏🏻 I remember that in South America the others selections (the coaches) always used to asked if Jorge Valdivia was playing the game, all the teams considered him a threat 👀
You should react to Matías Fernández, he won the award to the best player of America in 2006 just with 20 years, he played with Jorge Valdivia in Colocolo and in the Chilean selection team, part of the gold generation of Chile too, champion of America cup. another incredible talent, he was the promise of America, unfortunately a lot of things happened, but everybody thought that he was going to be one the best in the world, the rabona, fake rabona and the free kick was his thing, actually he’s one the biggest exponents of the rabona, with Maradona, Claudio Borghi, Ronaldo, and others.
