- For years, Jonathan Knight performed in front of thousands of screaming girls as a member of popular boy band New Kids on the Block, but the pop star was hiding a huge secret.
I'm so glad that Jonathan Knight has conquered his panic anxiety attack, and he looks fantastic! He feels confident, articulate, intelligent, well-spoken, and just a humble person. He is going to be just fine with New Kids On The Block.

IRL he there really is no problem about his sexuality. He did not harm no one and he was no danger or threat. He also was not the 1st or the last to reveal that he is gay. I find that he is successful and continues to be talented.

I agree! Looking back on old videos and watching old interviews, you could see Jon wasn't always as playful or talkative as the others (and I know they shielded him as much as possible, which shows how strong that bond is for ALL of them, even today).
Seeing this today, some 6 years after (and wishing I hadn't missed the Amazing Race), I'm so proud of Jonathan for speaking his truth, living HIS life out loud (and yet not). A few months out of the year he rocks out with the boys (and is DEFINITELY more at ease with that fame), then he and Harley do what they do best--hang out on the farm, save historic houses and enjoy life! ❤

I feel glad that he is happy and speaking up for himself now and I feel kind of stupid now because my first reaction was also "Oh My GOD I DIDN"T KNOW HE WAS GAY"!!!??? It's good that he can finally overcome the stress that comes from hiding and finally just let it all go and not feel like he is letting anybody down.

He is in his own way lucky. He has the love of a wonderful Man, he's not an addict and he takes life one day at a time. I sometimes wonder if George Michael felt he could have that peace of mind back in the day.
Something else was going on, too, at the time the New Kids were at their first peak: AIDS. A lot of bigoted people assumed that anyone who was gay either had the disease already, or they'd eventually contract it. I mean, who knows? If Jon had come out back then, some parents might've forbidden their kids to have anything to do with the band, especially attending the concerts. I feel so bad that he had to struggle like that, and I'm beyond happy that he's in the place he is right now.

Those words relate so much to what Jonathan was going through back in the day. In fact, many fans of the movie feel it was a thinly-veiled reference to anxiety and depression.

She was trying to save the image on early days for the fans that though he was straight!!.
In the 80s, someone being gay was not talked about. It was still new to many of us. We didn’t know what to say or think about it. I can understand hiding his sexuality back then. We knew that many artists were a bit different but it wasn’t talked about. Nowadays it’s a much different world and more accepting. I’m just glad that Jonathan is no longer having problems with having panic attacks. I saw him on Oprah and he looked horrible sitting on stage being frightened.

Instead, I choose to love others, because Jesus said "Let he who is without sin among you, cast the first stone" (John 8:7). People like you who leave nasty judgmental comments are the type of Christians who need to examine what's in their heart a little more closely, because I know Jesus would never support such a vindictive person. We're all sinners Cathy in some way or another and how about we leave God to decide whether we're worthy of His kingdom. It's not up to us.

Always kinda loved Jonathan. He's a cool dude. But's it's really crappy that (some) selfish people around him made him feel bad, and scared to be who he is, just because they felt it would harm their earning potential. That's messed up.

monkeegirl76 Davy4ever if you go back over his responses back in the day...none of his responses hint that he’s straight. We assumed he was straight when he answered the questions. I remember one article all the other guys were very particular about what a girl looked like, but Jon said something like “looks don’t really matter. It’s what’s inside that counts,” paraphrasing of course. The other guys said she has to be petite and cute with a sweet smile...something like that. I just thought he was being super sweet...I was struggling with my body image back then, so his response made me relax. He’s sweet anyway ☺️ He’s my favorite...always will be. We have way more in common than I ever thought as a kid. I think he’s my favorite because I see a lot of myself when I see him.
