Türkiye'den geleceğiz 2 kişi ağustos ayında. Kendim de mübadil bir ailedenim Ptolemaida'dan mübadele ile Türkiye'ye göçmüşler. Batı Trakya ve Balkan Türklerinin kültürünü araştırıyorum ve korunması için çalışmalarımız var. Balkanlarda hala yaşayan Türklerin olması çok güzel bir şey. Balkan Türk kültürünün devamlılığını sağlayabilmemiz de çok önemli. Yardımcı olursanız sevinirim.

As far as I know Maronia was/is an entirely Greek/Christian village, but one can find mixed or entirely Muslim villages in the same district (Rodope), though they look very poor. I partly (1/4th) come from Komotine and has visited it several times and funnily enough I prefer staying in... Maronia.

Yes, Maronia is a fascinating village. It has a rich and ancient history, dating back to ancient Greece. It was later under the protection of the Ottoman Empire and was the setting for some mythological stories. In many ways, Maronia, like every piece of land in this region, is very precious. Because no matter what religion, language, race, or culture you belong to, this is a human history and we all watch this history with admiration. It is not a single culture that is valuable, it is the fact that multiple cultures have lived here that is valuable. In my opinion, poverty and wealth are relative concepts. We value more the cultural structure of the region and the fact that many civilizations have left their mark here. As I said in the video, perhaps the Greeks are the most similar to the Turkish race in history. Because I can say this as someone who has lived very well on both sides.
