      I have one because I love Mazdas. But everything Doug has said is true. The ride is absolutely shocking.

    I’ve done over 1,000 miles in my CX-60 Homura PHEV. More comfortable and plush than my former Mercedes E350 and it takes potholes better than the Mercedes low profile tyres, so I don’t understand the ride criticisms. Economy is good, EV range circa 32-35 miles. Had far more admiring comments than I ever did in the Mercedes. Its road presence and Soul Red Crystal is head turning. I saved £12,000 compared to equivalent German PHEVs. If you are a brand snob and happy to waste money, it’s not for you. But a sensible choice for many.

      I've the impression that many reviewers already saw the early reviews on the CX-60 during it's launch. At that time, indeed, suspension wasn't dailed in (did a test drive with an early edition version back in August last year). However the CX-60 delivered this year (in BE) has updated suspension, different shox,.. did another test drive and I was personally very pleased.
      So could it be that reviewers that submit their vids in the last months just mimic what they've heard in other reviews rather then coming up with their own honest opinion?
      Similarly, many vids mention the lack of touchscreen (even though mentioned as a positive thing here), that info is wrong. There is a (permanent) setting that allows you to make the screen a touchscreen, even while driving. It's obviously hard to know every feature of a car you're reviewing, but if you spend time reviewing a specific one, like the touchscreen, it should be correct imho...

      It’s interesting to compare recent positive Australian reviews with early UK reviews. The Aussie launch has benefitted from the much earlier European launch and Mazda resolving some issues. My PHEV car has the new factory fitted shocks, and tomorrow will receive six software updates addressing minor glitches that Mazda has ironed out. Yes, there have been a few challenges, like an over sensitive I-Activsense system, but no entirely new car is ever perfect at launch and Mazda and it’s dealers are doing a commendable job in ensuring post sale customer satisfaction. I love my CX-60.

      ​@@philipwolski2299 Hi mate. It's not released yet in Australia. I've preordered mine with the petrol 3.3 turbo last December. Little bit lighter than the PHEV and diesel so I look forward to testing the controversial suspension. ETA was June though mine hasn't even been build yet. As usual down under will get the cars last. 😢

      Your Mercedes will have had run flats and lower profile tyres though no? the Mazda doesn't. In fact it has rather meaty tyres even on the 20's and it still runs rough. The CX60 is a great car! but no way is the ride even comparable to any German brands. But as you say, its a top car for value without a doubt.

      I also have that tacumy PHEV and now over 10000 km and it isn't perfect but for that money, it is great and anybody who has entered in the interior was blown away so.. I look forward to a future generations of this model..

    BMW X3 Interior is the same as that of the X5 why are you complaining about the CX60 being similar to that of its sibling? Its like you hate to admit that Mazda have made a great car both in design and engine tech. The fact that a small company like them can still innovate and explore new engine tech bothers you so much

    Did a test drove last week, diesel is much better to drive than PHEV. That doesn't mean PHEV is slow, it's really fast and zooom. But it requires a longer stopping distance because of the weight. On motorways it's an ooomph, sticks to the road. I didn't had to even break on motorway curves. It was really smooth. Compared to similar priced BMW X1, it's far better. PHEV and Diesel is similar priced as well. I went for the PHEV and booked that one, will be arriving next month.

      @@tonnyochieng118 I am not criticising the reviewer here. But this exact written review has been posted in their website last year or so when the model was released. Mazda has improven a lot after that, they are doing free replacements of suspension for those who need a comfier one.

      @@danilozoff1411 got my PHEV as well. handling is perfect, apart from suspension. It's a stiffer ride and it's not an adaptive one. Mazda says it's because to avoid body rolls in corners and for better handling, but it really doesn't work in UK roads. There is a courtesy swap for a comfier suspension, but I will wait an year to do that till my new suspension breaks in.

    I have the cx60 phev homura. After two cx5 diesels.
    The ride is fine but the pot holed Roads are garbage. 60000 warranty yes but batteries have a 100000 warranty period.
    Average 42 to 48 with long distance motorway travel and mid fifties around Bucks town use.
    My electric range is temp dependant. 15 deg gives 39 miles fully charged.
    10 degrees generally 32 to 34.
    Minus 6 deg in January then 22 to 24 electric range.
    Regenerate on the move and it takes about 40 miles to build back another 34 mile electric range.
    Handling is good and value is way better than Lexus and BMW.

      I’ve ordered one of these and really wont use it purely electric. I ordered the phev purely because its the quickest.
      How does it work if you want to keep the battery at a charge to use the extra power ?

      @@gary5516 there are options to recharge on the move at various percentage of total battery output and if you drive in sport it uses more ice with electric boost but mid 30 s distance but it does fly but not for long. The generation mode eats a bit into mpg overall but if you know in 30 miles you will be on good switchback roads and want to preserve the electric range until then you can. Normal mode switches between petrol and electric but hit the recharge button and electric use is much lower it takes a bit of experimenting to keep your mpg figures up but driving in sport reduces mpg but is fun for 35 miles.

      If you live in urban city and can home charge efficiently then you will have 35 - 39 miles daily to use before eating up the gas. If you live where its cold and bad winters expect 22 to 25 range max.
      If however you live out of towns or drive longer distances then the mpg suffers and instead of 55 mpg your averaging 38 mpg. Still not bad for an SUV AWD weighing over 2ton.
      If you can buy the 3.3 Diesel version in your country i think that would be best suited to this size vehicle but if you are being hammered by fuel costs or want to drive greener the 2.5 PHEV is so far good for me and my mixed use.

    Comment about the ride is utterly false. I've had mine just over 2wks, drove various roads with plenty potholes nearly 1000 miles and absolutely love it. I previously had BMW 330e touring which I loved to but definitely not missing thanks to the cx60.

      Early CX-60 PHEV production cars did have some suspension problems. However, if requested by a dissatisfied customer, dealers will replace with less firm shock absorbers. My PHEV was delivered in early March 2023 and has the revised factory fitted upgrade. Like the OP, I switched from a Mercedes and prefer the CX-60.

    My dad just got his Homura PHEV CX60 yesterday and wow what a car it is!!! I have a 2023 CX5 and I love it to bits but the CX60 is on a totally different planet in terms of luxury and quality. It’s beautifully built.
    Mazda are really upping their game, and yeah the price of the CX60 is high but you spec an X3 hybrid to the same level and you’re talking £60K +
    The Mazda is nearly £10k cheaper and built better.
    And I love the fact that Mazda are avoiding the stupid touch screen bollocks that other manufacturers are churning out, it’s illegal to interact with your mobile phone whilst you drive and I really don’t see the difference between fannying about with a mobile or using a touchscreen system.
    It’s too distracting and is just completely pointless.

      Can you confirm the screen is definitely not touchable? Before it was release, it did say the screen is touchable when the vehicle is not moving and it will disable the touch feature when the car is moving?

    The point around boot space vs the lower spec cx-5 is totally irrelevant when it’s bigger than all it’s class rivals, surely that just means the cx-5 is also a decent package.

    What this review has completely missed (and every other one I've seen) is there is no mention of its class leading 2500kg towing capability in a PHEV! There is an issue in that Mazda only give you a towball limit of 150kg which will not match many caravans up at the 2500kg ATM but I've ordered the car (July delivery) and purchased a 22ft caravan balanced for the towball constraint. Why oh why is the towing capability not making headlines?

      The 2500 kg tow capacity is the main reason I am looking at the CX-60. There are slim pickings for cars with similar towing capacity for the type of car in the price range I am looking at. Volvo XC60 can tow 2400 kg, but is pricier and only has 100 kg tow-ball download maximum.

    No mention in this review of the new 8sp auto transmission installed in this model - which enables manual shifting of gears. For me, a proper auto transmission with manual shift matters a lot. I prefer this setup to CVT based systems offered by Toyota and Subaru

    The Display is fully touchscreen.. There is a feature you can enable or disable to allow touchscreen only when stopped... but if disabled, it is touchscreen anytime...
    Would be great to do a review having tested the features fully...

    strangely; i drove a mustang mach-e, cx-60 and audi q4 etron; the cx60 was a match for both -- in terms of smoothness and comfort (mach-e was firmer ?) and of course was more than a match in terms of specs. I don't get the fidgety ride-handling that most of the reviewers are complaining about 🤔🤨🤔

    the warranty is 6 years or 150000 km whichever comes first, i thought you said only 3 years? And the ride is smooth a bit stiff but it is sport car, not a rolls

    Most car owners are not concerned with negatives highlighted by car reviews, especially ride quality. They just want a car that looks good in their opinion and moves. What you get as standard on this car is what the BMWs and Audis will ask you to pay for as options. You can imagine spending thousands on a BMW yet 360 camera, HUD, seat heating, and cooling do not come as standard.

    Picked a PHEV Takumi up last week. Early days but I am pleasantly surprised at how good the car is. This review is in my opinion inaccurate and misses the point of the vehicle which is cost and economy. I have a smart energy tariff and i calculate on my mostly short journeys i am paying 4p per mile. On the suspension points i have had multiple german pemium cars of all types and many of them were at least as stiffly strung as the cx60. Watch other reviews for a more accurate opinion.

    He is a really hater of Mazda... I have an Homura CX-60 PHEV version and for my side there is only one thing to improve an it is the sound of the electric motor only when you start to drive, let say the two first seconds when you start to drive... Nothing terrible to deal with. Other than that the car is perfect

    Rather than a "luxurious ride," I would enjoy firm suspension like Mazda offers. Hands down, it is a better choice than any rivals.

    That Ride/drive-quality critique is too exaggerated, it moves similarly as the other heavy PHEV-SUVs, out of air-suspension on some more expensive Models. It's not a sport-car.

    Love the car itself, but the phev is just garbage for me. The range is ridiculous, the car heavier and the fuel consumption on the highway isn't really good either...

      @@MrVroom1 that might just be my brain, I guess. I’m loving my full-EV Fiat 500e so much I’m starting to think about replacing the big diesel Duster we use for longer journeys, IKEA trips and so on. And right now, it’s between a plug in hybrid like the £40k Sportage or Tucson, making do with a slightly smaller boot with a £40k Niro, or spending the £50k to step up to one of the tonne of EVs at that range; EV6, Model Y, Ariya, Polestar 2, XC40 etc.
      So however I look at this, it’s either £10k overpriced as a hybrid, or a disappointing compromise from a full EV.

      The point is you can go to Dundee from Aylesbury and back like I did last week 435 miles each way. Fill up twice each way and generate EV range so combined mpg of 42 to 44 at 70mph and stop for comfort breaks twice total 45 mins without requiring additional day to recharge and queue for hours like many did

      An Ionic 5 with the 77KW battery option has a real-life range of about 320Km (Summer trip to France, Airco on, car fully loaded or worse, a winter sky trip). Meaning I'll have to recharge at least 3 times, hoping that there is a charger free during this bussiest period on the road. For me, that's still a blocker in my head, I'm not ready for that :-) It's obviously a worstcase scenario that only happens once or twice a year, but that's enough for me to still go for a phev instead. Don't want the hassle of renting a car during that period either. For me the electric option would make a lot of sense as a commuter, but since we "only" have one car...
      Next to that pragmetic approach, I just love the styling of the Mazda vs a mediocre "nah" on the Ioniq or EV6, though others will say the opposite ofcourse

      Indeed, saw a few reviews where this info is just wrong. One reviewer copying the other one I think... there is a setting where you can make the screen touchscreen for all that is Android Auto or Apply Carplay related, even while driving. Mazda native infotainment remains touchless, unless you drive very slow. A little bit a weird setup, but it's native infotainment is designed for it, it works well (based on my current experience in a CX-5). They can't really anticipate on all kinds of apps of third-party suppliers which is probably why they made touchscreen available for all those, even while driving.

    Rubbish, so many details didn’t match the reality. starting with the warranty, Mazda Europe offers 6 years for this car ( starting from 2023)

      Indeed, when I ordered mine, it was still 2y warranty but was informed (by Mazda) that I'll get 6 years of warranty (8 for the battery). That's a very nice free upgrade and also tells me that they believe the car is very solid build. We'll only know in a few years.

    The Mazda PHEV can only travel 25 miles in EV mode and all versions get 25 mpg combined. So the PHEV only saves you one gallon of gas per charge and in my area it costs as much to charge that massive battery as 1 gallon of gas. $4,000 to carry around a 700lb battery that saves you no money......no thanks. The Mazda PHEV is the most inefficient PHEV sold today.

      I’ve been running this car in the UK for Car Magazine’s long-termer section for the past six months and 11,000 or so miles (17,702 km), which is plenty of time to generate some firm electric range and economy numbers. But of course, being a PHEV, those numbers can vary dramatically depending on where you drive it and whether you remember (or bother) to charge it, which takes 7h 50 from flat using a regular 240-volt UK household socket.
      I’ve never matched Mazda’s quoted 39-mile (63 km) electric range, but I have seen 32 (52 km) a few times. Most days, though, the battery seems to be toast in 25 miles (40 km). That’s enough for me to run errands close to the house like dropping kids at school, and means many days the 2.5 ICE motor doesn’t get out of bed, but it doesn’t make much of an impact on a four-hour motorway blast.

      @@clarkkent9080 Thats interesting, thanks for that. It will be my first time having a plug in hybrid so i assume the range you get can differ on different factors etc.
      For me 30 miles ish is ideal electric range for dropping kids off to school, round town etc before i head off to work and use the normal petrol engine. Sounds bad but my main reason for going hybrid was for tax benefits, cant really say i got it because im an eco warrior. lol

      @@grahamsteele6232 I am not an eco warrior either so I have to see some logical benefit. Just because you don't pay for electricity at the plug does not mean it is free.
      I calculated that the battery would take 16 Kwh to charge from 20% and my electric cost with tax and fees is 0.18 per Kwh or $2.88 per charge. I just filled up at $3.03 per gallon.
      The CX-90 gets 25 miles of EV range or 25 mpg on ICE/hybrid so a battery charge saves one gallon of gas or 0.15 cents. Assuming 6 charges per week every week, I would save $47 per year. The PHEV is at least a $4,000 option not counting tax and loan cost. So I would break even in 85 years.. Woo Hoo order me al least 2.
      You have to do your own calculation to determine if it makes sense but even in the hydro power Pacific Northwest with cheap electric rates, you are looking at at least 5 years to hit that break even point

      Is that very different compared to other PHEVs? I understand that the RAV4 is more efficient (but it's a different taste).
      That said, unfortunately, we'er not doing what is most environmentally friendly or makes most sense, we're just following the tax incentives. The diesel version seems to make a lot of sense, reported consumptions numbers for a car of that size are very decent, but buying one as a company car would be tax suicide (we're taxed on engine size and CO2 numbers). In reality, even electric car's should get a CO2 emission rating. Even if you've got your own solar panels, just building the batteries, recycling them. Not that I'm against EV's, but granting them an 0 emission score is just short-sighted.

    Completely disagree about the infotainment system. Can't speak to this vehicle, but I've owned the CX-5, best friend has the CX-9 and I've driven the CX-3, CX-30, CX-50 as loaners. I hate the Mazda system. I actually think the placement of the knob does not work for all. Was uncomfortable to reach in the CX-50 (for me). I also think it's clunky. Requires multiple twists and clicks just to do basic stuff like tune the radio. I actual think the need to twist, click, read a menu, then read, twist and click again, and even again just to basic things is actually way more distracting than a touch screen. I found my attention off the road way too often and lingering as I read the menus and the need to visually confirm I was on the right choice before clicking. On top of that It doesn't make great use of the screen space either leaving tons of just unused space or overly spreading things out for no great reason. Not going to write it here, but I would love to speak to Mazda's engineers and help them to fix it. The ride, handling, materials, value all good. Infotainment system? The sound is fine, basic features are there, but the controls suck in my opinion. And quite frankly the dash design is getting dated in my opinion as well. The competition is changing, improving and innovating, but Mazda seems stuck and is making everything way too similar.

      Tesla y was 84,400 with upgrade wheels, upgraded white interior and $5000 semi auto mated upgrade pack.

      Why, average driver do not drive more then 50km daily only need a 50-100 km battery . It then seems more stupid carry around an oversized expensive heavy battery, a battery that degrade by time without even being used. And on long journeys avoid the hassle find and spending valuable vacation time at some horrible boring battery charging station.

      US commenter here. A hybrid or PHEV makes a lot a of sense in this country where trips can be hundreds or thousands of miles long. No worries about finding gas stations to refuel. Even if there were enough electric charging stations (currently not the situation today), charging time would be multi fold longer than pumping gas.

    Bought that car, completely disappointed would never do the same mistake again, for such money you can buy diesel q7, x5 and enjoy much better ride and comfort. Price should be max 50k eur in takumi design, not 65k they ask for it now. Horrible @mazdas..ks
