This is how life should be led. No lakhs and lakhs of rupees, but pure bonding among the fellow teammates and wonderful enjoyment. Life was so simple yet very very happy till the 90s I believe. These guys really show us the meaning of "One life...live it" :-). I watched 83 yesterday and my son was wondering why there are tears in my eyes. How can I explain him what it means to be a Indian cricket fans and watching your heroes !

Just amazing and heart warming to see these legends together. They are the OG! One cannot ignore the camaraderie and friendship between these greats seen through their casual banter
can't give the whole credit to a one man... I always believe that.. Kapil Dev was great... That 175 innings is one of the best ever but contributions of other shouldn't be forgotten... Patil scored quick runs in so many matches... Quick 30-40 down the order (51 of 32 balls in semis).. Amarnath was MOM in both - Semifinal and final, the way Binny & Madanlal bowled throughout the tournament ( being highest & second highest wicket takers... 18 &17 sclaps respectively) ..Yashpal scored quick 40s in 2-3 matches
and all this happened when team's best batsman Sunil Gavaskar was out of form in WC. 😊

I also remember the last match in a series against Australia, when Australia batting last had to score some 100+ runs to win with a lot of time. Kapil Paji had tremendous pain in one of his legs, I think. He took some painkillers and bowled his heart out. We won that match thanks to his tremendous spell. That was also the match in which Sunil Gavaskar was given out when playing well, and that whole feeling of unfair treatment was channeled into a great energy by a great player like Kapil. What a player!

Remember watching the finals. When India got out and Richards was spanking the ball hard, had lost all hope of winning and then came the running point of Kapil's running back catch. After that every ball was cheered right to the ultimate Amarnath wicket. As a 15 year old that moment is forever etched in my heart and mind. even at 53 now I still remember as if it was yesterday. No Indian can ever forget that day. Thank you Kapil Dev. Thank you team.

1982 Pakistan series Gavaskar was skipper and we lost 0-3 . Gavaskar was sacked and Kapil Dev was named the new skipper . We lost the test series there but by a closer margin and won a ODI match . The world cup was next and we defeated west indies in the first match in the group stage . That was followed by two defeats and the zoo mbabwe match was crucial and Kapil Dev sunglehandedly won that match and changed the game of cricket for this world not just India . 🙏
