Bauhaus and Love and Rockets, and later Jane’s Addiction, were openly and staunchly against ideology and virtue signaling, yet they were anything but nihilistic. They combined the rejection of conformity with the observation that life is more meaningful than we were likely being told. This is what made their music irresistible to anyone with a brain and the gumption and audacity to use it.

Peter leaving Bauhaus basically ended his commercial career. I find something really special in the Love and Rockets music. For the lack of a better word, I gues I should call it "the vibe", which in my opinion makes their better songs (and not all of their ledger is impeccable to say politely) absolutely unique and and simultaneously timeless. I mean this tune, or No Big Deal, or Haunted when the minutes drag... the list goes on - in my opinion it's like what quintessensial rock music has since become, the very core of its last evolution can be found on those 80s recordings. it's just a feeling of mine though.
