The college hit that opened up a new audience in the USA for the band. From the album Earth.Sun.Moon.
There's a great CD box set available from amazon.co.uk of the first four albums and bonus tracks.

It's 2020 and this still sounds ahead of its time. Love and the Rockets were geniuses.

Vinícius Ferrenberg History repeats its self, the worst is yet to come.
That is because this is as timelessly original a message as they come. In essence, there is nothing new under the sun.
Will always love them. So much wisdom in these songs.
you will notice a strong Buddhist backbone to almost anything he says of substance. The "Kundilini express" is pretty much a roadmap to Satori

Showed my seven year daughter this video as part of her ongoing musical education. We watch a huge variety of styles in the hope that some of it will stick. Tonight at tuck-in she started singing this song. 🤩
That makes me so happy :)
That's awesome.

Awesome parenting!
Being alive in the 80's brought me here ☮️
In vitro fertilization brought me here.
Haha. Same.
@SNOOBCOC haha. Toooo funny. Thanks pal. I hear ya
Bauhaus and Love and Rockets, and later Jane’s Addiction, were openly and staunchly against ideology and virtue signaling, yet they were anything but nihilistic. They combined the rejection of conformity with the observation that life is more meaningful than we were likely being told. This is what made their music irresistible to anyone with a brain and the gumption and audacity to use it.
I traveled here via a time machine. Fuck this, I'm headed back.
"Simple as a flower, and that's a complicated thing..." OMG. So Great!
Guess you never watched Mtv,this song was in heavy rotation
@@jasonhoffman218 Why would you say that? They never implied that it was the first time they'd heard it. I could have made the same comment because it IS an epic lyric. Heard it in the late 80's. Stop being one of those lame internet buzzkills.
they rocked Dodger Stadium in summer of 89 to open up for The Cure. I remember them playing this song.
I saw them at Universal Amp with the Mighty Lemondrops
Opening for the Cure on the Disintegration tour?!? Man, in Dodger Stadium, as well? Man, that’s the stuff of dreams!
Saw them at the Beacon. Fabulous show
@Lexi it was my first concert ever.. I was 15 in 89. I know of Love and Rockets music but that live show made me an instant fan .. I bought Earth Sun and Moon on tape lol. Pixies, honestly, I wasn't a fan of Pixies but now I appreciate the Rosa album and Doolittle album. Shelleyan Orphan was incredible and I was listening to Century Flower album on youtube .. The Cure was dope that night.. THis was their peak(Wish too).
I was there!!! The pixies opened.
Growing up on hair metal, so grateful the girlfriend turned me onto LnR. Got to see them in '87 in a theater setting with some opener I'd never heard of at the time called Jane's Addiction.
Grumpy old man here... those were the days!
& now as a young man I'm sitting front row in Detroit going to see Love & Rockets open up for the original line up of Jane's Addiction!! 🫡
August in San Diego seeing L&R open for Janes. Can. Not. Wait. 63year old.
members of legendary band Bauhaus reinvents itself into another legendary band

They actually morphed into 3 bands....the 3rd band being a side project called Tones on Tail 😀
Now 2/3 of them are in a band called Poptone.
3 bands

Love that they able to do 2 of the best cover songs ever as 2 different bands !
This song is over 30 years old yet doesn't sound dated at all. When I first heard it a few days ago, I thought it was a new release.
Thanks for reminder of being old ! Was 18 when this new and was already a fan of the band! Still a great song at 52 ! Glad you found it !
I imagine It would be hard to confuse this timeless classic with any music released in 2020. This sounds like real actual music performed by talented musicians on real instruments. Music in 2020 is made by pressing buttons on a computer or Mobile phone by talentless hacks.
I think nobody is coming up with new ideas. That’s why.
@@bigsistahtips everything has already been done.
@@OSDCrusher imagine if people would have thought that way and stopped at classical music.
This always was my favorite Love and Rockets song.
I'm no exception, please call my name
@@annahau8588 I saw them once in Cleveland, Ohio, USA. Interestingly enough, they came through about a week before Peter Murphy on his solo tour. I loved both shows. Oh, to be young again!
Daniel and David's voices are a beautiful match.
Like Layne and Jerry from Alice in Chains...
Once of the greatest bands ever... saw Peter Murphy but missed these guys
When I was a teenager in the late 90's my older brother won some concert tix from a radio contest. The band was The Specials. He had no idea who they were so he gave the tickets to me. The other band on the bill? Love and Rockets. Club DV8 in SLC, UT. What a great show.
AWESOME!!!❤❤❤
"you cannot go against nature, because when you do go against nature its part of nature too "
i remember this band from way back when, appreciate them a lot more in 2020
Discovered this band 6 month ago, watching movie Guest.Love it too much
I actually quote that line about as much as I quote anything from the Bible.
@@red_x322 you shoulda been there 35 years ago- sick track...when MTV played this, anything I was doing just stopped for a sing along with my girl- sick track!
This line always stood out to me as well.
I quote this line all the time. It's very philosophical.
This is real good music ,I get goosebumps ,and a bit of the creeps but that's what I love
Pure quality. This music lasts and lasts.
This is an incredibly deep, cutting and fun, pop song.

Some Bands are Much Better Than Others .
This was the first L&R song I heard after Bauhaus broke up. They still had the magic without Peter Murphy. A different lighter magic but magic still the same. I did NOT want to give them a chance but they changed my mind. Never doubt the power of Daniel Ash and David J again!
I think in retrospect Peter Murphy was holding Ash J and Mann back
Peter leaving Bauhaus basically ended his commercial career. L&R had not only a successful commercial career but also curated a library of solid, artistic songs that eclipsed anything Bauhaus recorded. What a mistake, the least talented thinking going solo would work out. Probably working in a fish and chip shop nowadays.
@@drk321 where have you been the last 20+ years? Murphy had a decent solo album and there is no fucking way that L&R did ANYTHING that would be considered better than Bauhaus. I liked L&R but nobody can compare to Bauhaus. Not even Bauhaus minus Murphy. Like with any really good band it took all 4 of them to make the Bauhaus magic. Can you imagine the Beatles without Lennon? Everyone is entitled to their own opinion no matter how misguided it may be. 😶🌫️
@@drk321 there is no fucking way that LR eclipsed ANYTHING Bauhaus did. Although LR were good they were minus the magic that Murphy brought that he couldn't recreate without Ash and Jay. And Murphy knew where owed his fame and Rock and Roll lifestyle where he never had to get a real job. He got back together with Bauhaus for several successful tours of which I saw a few shows. Saw them in 2006 and even though Ash was getting old pudgy Murphy looked better and still Brought it. Hardly working in a fish and chips joint I'd say.
@@antknee5556 This is an opinion issue. No need to get defensive and I personally usually do not use public opinion or record sales to tell me what is artistic. But it is MY opinion that when Peter left Bauhaus, you didn't hear much from Peter again. MEANWHILE L&R put out epic ambient/goth/ethereal music for years. Sorry to offend you. Maybe you can get a therapist to cope with your injury? Jeez buddy. You like your guys I'll like mine. Dial it back. Some MF's like Coldplay. Mourn those fools and let's just realize we are of almost the same DNA. WE LIKE GOOD SHIT. Fist bump and let's move on. Just like Love and Rockets would say: Yin and Yang. I like both but I am bumping L&R every time. Aloha.
I STILL HAVE THIS ALBUM IN ITS PLASTIC COVERING LOVE THIS ALBUM

Ah the glorious 80s!! These guys just bring it all back. For a moment it's like the world hasn't moved on...
Tempus fugit!
Aww Daniel's smile at the end
I saw them at the Fox Theater in Detroit in 1989. Janes Addiction opened for them. Unforgettable show.
Looking back in 2020 the 1980's right up until the end were far far better than the 21st century so far.
Tengo todo en vinilo todooooo lo oficiallllll este disco es una obra maestraaaaa de los maestrosssssss😊💪😎💪😎💪😎💪😎💪😎
Used to play this song in the garage.
The way he sings into the camera it's like he is seeing me dead in the eye and singing. It's like a fucking therapy!!!
I interviewed Daniel live in Hollywood in the early 90s, an awe-some meeting of the musical minds.
So how was his attitude like? He seems like a cool guy.
I will always be grateful to Bevis and butthead for turning me on to this amazing song
Great song! Been one of my favourites for years! Play it at least once per week! Love the Hippy vibe🎵🎵👍😀
My 80s soundtrack from back in the day✨🙂✨
[Verse 1]
You cannot go against nature
Because when you do
Go against nature
It's part of nature, too
Our little lives get complicated
It's a simple thing
Simple as a flower
And that's a complicated thing
[Chorus]
No new tale to tell
No new tale to tell
No new tale to tell
Ah
[Verse 2]
My world is your world
People like to hear their names
I'm no exception
Please call my name
Call my name
[Chorus]
No new tale to tell
No new tale to tell
No new tale to tell
Ah
[Chorus]
No new tale to tell
No new tale to tell
No new tale to tell
Ah
[Bridge]
When you're down
It's a long way up
When you're up
It's a long way down
[Breakdown]
It's all the same thing
No new tale to tell
It's all the same thing
No new tale to tell
It's all the same thing
No new tale to tell
It's all the same thing
No new tale to tell

No new tale to tell
It's all the same thing
No new tale to tell
[Outro]
It's all the same thing
No new tale to tell
It's all the same thing
No new tale to tell
There may not be a new tale to tell but the age old tale being told here is chock full of pearls of wisdom. Who knew a Rock n Roll song could be used as guide to achieve enlightenment?
So much of their music is about achieving enlightenment. Kundalina Express comes to mind.
You can hear the influence this band had on the Dandy Warhols
And a few other underground bands back then. This was their first "hit". It got some heavy rotation on Mtv back then and was a mild hit on the charts. They scored even bigger with "So Alive" about a year or so later, but they were always relatively underground.

A song from 35 years ago pops into my head. Search youtube and there it is. How frustrating the past was. Despite the end of democracy and global warming, what a time to live.
Except there was no way to find a song from in your head and play it instantly 35 years ago, was there
@@jayjones9125 that's what he was saying
Yeah cept there was NO CZcams and Love and Rockets albums were actually not easy to find. You had to go to "Alternative" record stores. They do not exist anymore. I can think of only 1 in my city. CZcams mainstreamed a lot of things in a negative way but and also opened up the music many of us grew up with to a whole new generation of listeners. And judging by what I hear on the radio today they need it sorely.
It was a great time to be alive. Before AIDS, before Blink 182, before Fentanyl, Before Trump, before Covid and the girls were beautiful.
In 1989 there was a small town in NJ called Highland Park. In that town was a street .On that street was a house. In that house was a basement with a dark stairwell leading to the backyard. In that stairwell we're several teenagers smoking weed . I was one of those teenagers. I wonder what was playing on the stereo.......

Great song!!
60 cycle brought me here 🤘🏼
I find something really special in the Love and Rockets music. For the lack of a better word, I gues I should call it "the vibe", which in my opinion makes their better songs (and not all of their ledger is impeccable to say politely) absolutely unique and and simultaneously timeless. I mean this tune, or No Big Deal, or Haunted when the minutes drag... the list goes on - in my opinion it's like what quintessensial rock music has since become, the very core of its last evolution can be found on those 80s recordings. it's just a feeling of mine though.
You're right on the money...
And so eloquently expressed, congratulations!
Saw them live in 1989.Gofathers opened for them. Awesome show!
