  • Loneliness is like an ache and often we feel ashamed to admit that we feel lonely. Ruth Graham shares national statistics about how half of American adults feel lonely, and how loneliness can affect us emotionally and physiologically. Ruth describes her 4 failed marriages and how her father, Billy, was very gracious and forgiving of her mistakes. Part of Ruth’s loneliness stemmed from missing her father as a child. She relates the Bible story of Hagar and how God sees us when we’re lonely, and she described the value of having community. On day 2, Ruth shares more stories about Bible characters who learned importance lessons in their loneliness - David, Daniel, and Abraham. Then Ruth shares her favorite memory about a lonely Christmas where her husband went on a hunting trip, but she found ways to express her gratitude and even worship to the Lord. Ruth describes some dangerous responses to loneliness, and she explains how solitude is better than loneliness, but it’s a choice we have to make in our perspective.

What’s worse is when you’re lonely and reach out to the church and no one shows up. Please believe this is not putting down the church but seriously their are desperate people wanting a friend and
have reached out to so many Christian’s organizations and.. nothing.. wow.. who cares.. Jesus does I know for sure but sometimes after losing your husband and have no friends.. maybe just maybe you could use a hug from “! Someone with skin on”.

I have to spend time alone to rejuvenate. Plus I love my mornings alone with coffee with one scripture just popping up in my head that I will think about throughout the day . Sometimes I'd love for Jesus to show up in human form.

I think as Seniors our loneliness is very different from younger people also divorced Seniors. I think some of us choose to be alone maybe it doesn’t help that the church doesn’t have a place for Seniors and divorced. I’m 69 years old work full time and my job is my mission field. Weekends I choose solitude to recalibrate for the coming week.

@13:40 You are very fortunate someone told you that you weren't crazy. My experience is that men don't get that type of support and IN PARTICULAR NOT FROM THE CHURCH - like women do. Self deletion is 4x higher for men after divorce because (in my opinion) they are either not believed or no one cares.

This certain guy that is reaching out is my ex husband and we are permanently divorced. And we aren’t reconciling he is not a believer at all. And he doesn’t want a personal relationship with Jesus at all that’s his decision that he has made. And his family they aren’t believers and they don’t want a personal relationship with Jesus Christ either they go to church in order to make off the box that is what religion is all about and religion (religiosity) is not Christianity at all!!! Works without faith is dead this is 100% true!!!

The loneliness comes from Christians spending so much time at work doing jobs that have nothing to do with their gifts and talents and the disconnect in the Body of Christ. If we are serving and working using our gifts and talents serving each other, we would never feel lonely.🙏🏿❤️
