  • In the summer of 1947, General Motors Corporation launched its first vehicles developed after the war, the Advance Design Pickup Truck. Oddly enough, the management of the concern decided to first update the design of the trucks, and only then take on the modernization of passenger models, although earlier, as a rule, commercial vehicles lagged behind passenger cars by at least a year. This attention to pick-ups and vans was simply explained: American farmers and workers also wanted a stylish and comfortable car so that they would not be ashamed to drive into the streets of the city. Considering the requirements of the post-war period, GM designers completely redesigned the truck cab, making its cabin more spacious and increasing the glass area. The body was noticeably taller and more voluminous, the headlights were integrated into the front fenders, and the radiator grille received a horizontal structure and a central bulge known as Bullnose. The most recognizable elements of the Advance Design pickups and their successors were the "stepside" steps between the cab and the protruding rear fenders that helped climb into the body, and a tailgate with a large "Chevrolet" lettering. For the first time, an option such as a radio was available on trucks.
Technically, the Advance Design trucks were not as progressive, but not too outdated either. They had a solid ladder frame, two continuous axles on semi-elliptical springs and mechanical drum brakes on all wheels. The length of the wheelbase depended on the carrying capacity and body type. On a light half-ton truck Chevrolet 3100 it was 116 "(2946 mm), and on the heavier Chevrolet 3600 and 3800 with a payload of 3/4 and 1 ton - respectively 125.2" (3181 mm) and 137 "(3480 mm). The Chevrolet 3100 was powered by a 3.5-liter overhead valve inline 6-cylinder Thriftmaster 216 engine with 90 hp, then it was replaced by a 3.9-liter LoadMaster 235 engine of the same design, producing 123 hp The standard was a 3-speed manual transmission with lever on the steering column (from 1948), but from 1953 it was possible to order a 4-speed automatic transmission Hydramatic.
The Chevrolet 3100 was offered in several body styles: a pickup (3104), a van (3105), a Canopy Express van with folding side panels (3107), a three-door Suburban station wagon with a double tailgate (3106), a three-door Suburban station wagon with one tailgate from the top and lower halves (3116); and open chassis (3102, 3103 and 3112). In 1954, the model received an updated body with a one-piece windshield, a radiator grill with a single horizontal bar, round taillights and a revised instrument panel. The Chevrolet Advance Design series were the most popular American trucks throughout their production, from 1947 to 1955. They had GMC-badged counterparts that featured a different grille and more powerful engines, but were less in demand due to the high price tag. In 1955, Advance Design was replaced by Task Force pickups.

I have watched Many Other Customization Channels for Years and all have their Own Unique methods to their Art Form! I will Admit that I Like what You have Accomplished with this Truck. I am Retired and Babysit my Grandson Max and we Watch as Many of the Modification Channels as we can. He Loves them and watches as Quite as a Mouse. Especially when 1 of the Mods Catches his Eye! I sort of have a Vested Interested in this 1 in particular because my PaPa had 1 just like it (PRE CUSTOMIZATION OF COURSE) when I was a WEE Little Lad. It was Green as well and we used on his Farm to Haul Hey to the Pastures at Feeding Time. I have Subscribed to your Channel and I look Forward in seeing more of your Art Work. Thanks
