I travelled to Lahore from Karachi 30 years ago with family when the road network was not very good . I enjoyed my trip and the dal n chapatis of roadside dhabas . The road was not safe particularly in Sindh area so l cleared Sind during daytime .
Hats off to MIAN NAWAZ SHARIF who got the motorways constructed n facilitated the public .

I'm not sure how you overlooked this, but there's a rest stop named 'Sahianwala Mini Service Area' on the M4, complete with all amenities, including a petrol pump. I've journeyed along this route countless times. Therefore, the recommended approach would be to refuel your vehicle first at the 'Bhera Rest Area,' followed by the 'Sahianwala Service Area' on the M4, and finally at the 'Uch Sharif Service Area' on the M5.
I started my journey by car from Karachi @ 0430 hrs and reached Peshawer @ 2200 hrs. same day. Had multiple breaks. First break Karachi to Moro, second break Sukkur, third break Shorkot, fourth break Bhera and then straight to peshawar. Single driver.
Finallllly, the legends on road trip .. the most authentic details one can find for this route. Thank you guys.

After Sukkur you should take NH55 instead of NH5 as it has way less traffic and road is also good.

You should have taken N55 (Indus Highway) after Sukkur which goes directly to M9. It's a great route which hardly any traffic and newly built road.

Thanks for this travelogue, nice to see how nice Pakistan Highway system is being built. 14 k / L seems low for Yaris...I get 16 in my Hyundai Sonata in Toronto / US highways..is it because of quality of fuel, I put 87 octane which IS regular...Thanks for all the details, who knows, I may visit Pakistan after 31 years......
Royal Taj Moro is a good place for the family to have breakfast, lunch and Dinner and to use the restrooms.

I have done this trip in June this year with kids. It’s difficult especially Sukkur to Hyderabad since no motorway. With small kid it’s difficult for him not recommended unless mandatory. Hats of to you being one driver

Just wana add one thing pindi bhattia jab ap cross karty towards M-4 before sahianwla interchange on M-4 ek stop hy which is also called sahianwla rest area go petrol pump were u can top up ur car. Best of luck you both doing great 💯

Best day to cover the sukkur/karachi is friday, you will neither find any heavy traffic nor more rikahaw/carts/bikes on this track on friday.

Awais, a tip on pumps at M4. Unless Govt constructs Any Pump on roadside rest areas You can tak exit either on these gojra, toba tek sing and right after the exit you will find many pumps. Refill and then re enter on m4. I know its hassel. But in case you are in critical situation then you should not take risk with family.
Painsra, gojra, toba exits hace pumps right after exit. I know these three exits after Faisalabad. From toba there may be more exits till multan. But I have no personal experience with them.
The best exit with lot of pumps right after exit is Gojra.

I have personally travelled many times from lahore to karachi by road. I would recommend.
- Start it around 10pm at night, lhr-sukkur is all motorway which you can do in night.
- Make sure to do the sukkur travel in day light (too dangerous to do in night) + roads are in bad condition (will make you tire early)
- Make sure to move to N55 when you are half done with sukkur. N55 connects to hyderbad interchange, and is around 100km long which is in much better condition then sukkur road.
Btw I noticed that yaris only gave 14.2 avg, shouldn't this be arround 16-17?
I have 1300cc, probably the average would be higher for 1500cc

I went to jhelum from lahore and back on toyota yaris it gave an avg of 17km/lit. On motorway it easily maintained a speed of 140km. I travelled 565km on a full tank until fuel low indicator came on.

I traveled a lot of times from khi to Skt with 2 kids and dad, app log thora ziada sooch rahy hain, its easy to travel, it took me like 18 hours from KHI to SKT and SKT to KHI in one go no rest. asan ha
