How the heck would a cat open an autolock door tho? Because i know the type of door that would be common in Australia (wink) and that can't be opened by cats. It requires two opposable thumbed hands. It's not like American doors where one lock exists. Something fucky was going on, just saying.
Also, Kiara's not showing it much, but she's defo freaked out about it. Everyone here who has experienced someone else entering their place without permission knows the feeling.

    • @Quantized2

@@feodaron89 My guess is that the door is "auto locked" from the outside. Meaning that to get in you need the key, but to get out you only need to push down the door handle. Maybe you can lock the door completely if you lock it using the key when leaving (or engaging the lock from inside), but if the brother left the door to auto lock it could still be opened from the inside with the handle alone... Similar to hotel room doors. Maybe.

Legislating morality is an impossible task for a government to take on. Especially when "moral" is a much more fluid and moving target in societies than "legal" is.

@@Valius_V The legal and regulatory frameworks of most, if not all, modern societies are so complicated that the average person routinely breaks some rule or another without realizing it. These are usually not infractions that would lead to serious criminal prosecution, so calling them "crimes" is a little bit of hyperbole, but it's virtually impossible for anyone in those societies to follow all the rules all the time.

People should know their rights and he right to privacy is a big one, the police should never enter your Home without a Warrant in hand. Before calling the Police the Neighbor could have knocked on the door and then close it if nobody is home or call the household or call relatives if they know the number and if not observe for a few days if something really irregular is happening. Then when the House owner is coming home you can ask if something happened and tell them what you observed that worried you. Do not call Police on intuition alone. The Police have the duty to execute the law and NOTHING ELSE! Do not let the Police overpolice someones behavior or let them intrude into someones affairs without reason. There is strict boundaries of what the Police is authorized to do and it is in your and the police best interest to know what these are. Her reaction is very weird. She's not upset her brother left the door open and pets could have escaped, or that someone may have broken in. And thinks it's odd the police were called in that situation or would just close the door that's unlocked.

yea she doesnt seem right in the head there.
of course the police would be there if someone reported a possible break in.
them being there to check if someones hiding in the building then calling the owner to let them know what happened is the basic course of action in that situation.
and why did she assume she did something bad in the first place?
thats not exactly a sane reaction to getting a call from the police.

Probably a door that hadn't actually closed properly (and thus locked) to begin with, but yes.

I'm guessing the cops went through everything in case the occupant had been murdered and stashed somewhere.
Good on the neighbour, given what they were aware of, namely a young woman who apparently lives alone has her door suddenly left open with her cats running free and no sign of her?
Yeah, that looks like a very scary situation where time may be of the essence.
