Girl, you and I have different definitions of "modest"...that is an above-the-knee, red, pencil skirt with a fairly high slit in the back. Lol. I definitely wouldn't call that modest, and it looked so great on you!
I think nowadays as long as you’re not flashing people you are considered modest Lmao I agree the outfit was cute but yeah, that’s not what modest means.
You can totally sew those pants to fit you! It shouldn't be too difficult at all since it's a softer fabric and it's only 2 inches!

you could just use a belt for the pants that don‘t fit perfectly at the waist, I always have to do that because my waist is so small literally no pants fit me
Im relatively new here and am confused at why you cant wear a belt???
If those striped pants are only a bit too big or in general if you have the typical gap over your butt you can just sew a thicker piece of elastic into the waist band to pull everything tight in a relatively subtle and very comfortable way.
Might be worth a try because it's actually also easy to do by hand. You either open up the seam and anker the elastic on both sides inside the seam or you just sew it on the inside of the pants. Both work fine.
For the rubbed thighs sew in a piece of old jeans fabrics from the inside of the pant leg to reinforce that part of the pants or buy those iron on jeans patches you then also iron on on the inside. Can get you a good amount of extra wears out of those jeans and it's very easy to do too and those patches are usually cheap as fuck and come in different colors too.
