- In Nigeria, an 11-year-old artist is creating waves with his unique creations. From a makeshift studio in a poor neighbourhood in Lagos, Waris Kareem produces incredibly life-like works of art. CGTN's Deji Badmus went to check them out.

I just don't like any abstract or modern art that literally looks like it could have been done by a child (his most famous style) so I poke fun at him and others like Warhol. If you couldn't tell I'm not that much of an art guy. I like practical sciences and whatnot so the only artist I've got a lot of respect for is Da Vinci.

I’m surprised that kid hasn’t made more money, these aren’t just good drawings, there’s a lot of good drawings, these are important historical documents and visual diaries
A child should be left to be a child. I am sure when the time come he would make more than enough to make a living. We have too many of them in Nigeria. More than 3 decades ago while in early stage of what we called high school in Nigeria (probably 12 - 13 yr of age) I had a friend who had notebook full of cartoon images with story-line, all created by hand with a pencil and pen. Just too realistic. God know what he does now.
