Desk Pop just uploaded their review which wasnt that positive. One of the dots lost zero just by being bumped with a mag...
they both failed and the dot disappears towards the top of the window
I had some issues with mine too. Screws were trash and the light sensor isnt great. Tolerances are also off with Zev cuts.
His video was great. The cult will go mental when they see it.
@@poortac5568and thats what you get for thinking olight could put out anything of quality lol
Yeah he said both of them lost zero and then he beat the crap out of one with a big ass rock and that thing fell apart like pot metal which is a bummer. I got one to test but they didn’t send me a rail mount with it. I was going to see if it survives a shotgun 😬😬😬 hopefully they’ll send me a mount
Hey sootch, I met you today at the NRA conference. They say don’t meet your hero’s, but I’ve been watching you since I was a little kid, and I couldn’t have asked for a kinder, more welcoming greeting. Thank you for all these years of great videos and information. Hope to see you again in the future! 👍🫡
Hi Sootch, my buddy and had the honor of meeting you today too.
I agree totally with above comments.
Thank you for your humble and genuine welcome. Thank you for sharing all your prepping tips and best reviews always. We appreciate the photos with you too!
You’re a valuable resource and YT friend!
Thanks for everything!
So, as someone who is blessed to actually know Don (Sootch) personally, you are absolutely correct in your assessment! He is in person, exactly who he is on video: warm, friendly, kind, approachable, knowledgable and extremely humble. One of the greatest men that I have ever had the honor of meeting and being able to call a friend! He has touched so many people through his incredible volume of videos.
I met a few Fly fishing icons of mine, at some expo shows. They were great people too! I'd enjoy meeting Don, and having a conversation with him... for hours!
I met sootch a few years ago at a olight function in the Atlanta area. Spoke with him briefly..very friendly. Seemed like the person he projects on his videos. 👍🏻
Guys, he makes good videos, mostly. Hes just a regular ass dude. Hero??? We gotta get you out of the house more....
Legend has it this video was edited on the optic screen.
😂😂😂
Sheesh Can we download apps through that screen😂😂😂
for real...does HBO come on that thing?
Nope Cinemax
I can play a fist person shooter game on it! 😂😂
It's the Olight IMax.
@motonut007 😂😂I haven't gotten around to these things yet.. I'm sure I will tho but definitely not that size
Yall make the same lame jokes wit the holo comp and the other large sights?
Looks like a small block Chevy is perched on top of your pistol. Love their innovation and looking forward to a compact model with closed emitter and a 32 MOA Circle Dot.
You SOB! 🤣😂🤣😂
This comment gave me a good chuckle
Hahaha… same here.
Micro red dot?
My brother in Christ, they spelled MACRO red dot wrong.
smaller than a 507 comp
Macro is smaller than micro! 😮
@@chrissewell1608 "Macro- is used as a combining form meaning “large” or “great.” The word micro describes something that is very small or something related to things that are small in size or scope."
@@chrissewell1608 huh?
That bad boy running Windows 98!
My issue with cheap(er) sights has been tiny windage/elevation screws that don't have enough adjustment range and the slot getting stripped after just a couple adjustments. Also the website does not explain which guns it mounts on without adapter plates.... (supports industry standard mounting....? that means nothing, there is NO industry standard). 3 MOA is really not ideal for fast target acquisition, but of course that's a personal preference.
You seem to have mounted the sigh on a Glock and it looks like you used an adapter. Is that included?
Thank you for the nice review. It’s very innovative and clever.👍👍
Great meeting you yesterday at NRA. Appreciate you being so welcoming. Best part of the conference for me!
I love your detailed reviews on our favorite stuff;...GUNZ and Junk. :) My good man, It would be awesome to get a camera view through that sight while you slam steel with it. Stay blessed my brother!!
Do a drop test on the top of the sight
Put it on a SCAR17 and see if it survives.
Bad ass, God bless brother. Keep up the good work love you channel!
I use an OLight pro light. I love it. Excited to see they're offering a red dot sight
Hey Sootch, Awesome review. Just order my olight. Plus, I wanted to know what type of sights are you using with the Osight
This being a larger sight will be perfect for my mini 14 with the hanibal rail upper hand gaurd
Great video Don!🇺🇸👍
Been waiting for this to drop
Of the entire design, the over-the-top charger is spectacular. It's a bit larger than I prefer, but I can understand the argument towards visual acuity, especially for those with vision problems, or dot acquisition. It visually looks pretty sturdy, but I'd definitely like to see some torture testing. Great vid!
Also, as a p.s., I would like to mention that I, personally, prefer a more round design and wish there were more options in that regard. I'd also like to toss out there to Olight that it'd be nice if they would coat the edges, especially the top left and right edges, with polymer or a rubberized coating over the metal. Anyway, just some random thoughts.
This sight will be perfect on my mini 14. I think it's better as a small carbine sight than a pistol sight.
@@calvinsallee I agree, it fits much better on a PCC.
Looks great another Trijcon SRO alternative like Gideon Omega I'm going to get this on sale too. Big window and green dots are key for older eyes with astigmatism. I have several Olight products, which sure the Sure light haters will always say something but they are great and keep innovating.
That's way cool. Gonna have to get one
Love all your videos. Would be interesting to compare it to the Holosun Comp. I wish they would have added a few reticles to choose from - would be nice.
The external charging cover is a game-changer for keeping things convenient and streamlined.
It's certainly a cool unique feature, but at the same time if the dot goes like 3-5 years between charges I'm uncertain of the need for such easy charging.
That said ordered one to play with.
I am impressed. Will continue to watch, as other large channels am sure will get a hold of it for further evaluation. Hey OLight! Send one to this small channel for evaluation! Unless I missed it, is it an open or enclosed emitter? Is the battery manually replaceable or is it one and done? I did not see a side battery tray or if it is a bottom loading scenario.
I definitely want one. I’ve stuck with my iron sights because I like the unobstructed field of view. Maybe this big window will work for me. I already have a PL 3 Valkyrie light. Just can’t find a holster that will work with it.
I think this might be what I have been waiting for.
Nice review. Next step the Ogun available in multiple calibers and colors... 😉
Tools are necessary! 💯
Awesome video 👏
Being slightly older has taught me a few things...
Trends come and go in all industries (especially in the firearm industry)
The larger sight window on this is a great option for newbies to red dot sights or folks with eye problems.
Just like cell phones, they got smaller and smaller until they figured out it was too small, so they went larger until they became tablets.
Red dots are following the same trend.
The innovation of the charging is a massive upgrade, so I'm excited to see how this changes the other companies in the near future.
Great job to Olight for pushing innovation in the red dot market!
I'm definitely going to buy one just to check it out and see for myself.
I bought one to test for myself. I’m not looking for a carry red dot, just something for fun so if it doesn’t work as well, I won’t be mad
Thank you for reviewing an interesting new product.
I light have very good products.and at that price I’ll be getting two of the green sites looks great awsome thanks sootch once again
Don't waste your money. It doesn't hold zero
Been looking for a pistol red dot and i love olight. I think that will be my next. i will keep watching your testing to see how it does. Thanks
I own an baldr S and it has not failed me at all. Not an Olight fan boy either. I have seen many other vids with consistent hits with this same optic. I wouldn't want it personally when there are much better options for red dots, but i'm not going to hate on anyone who does. I lot of folks in these spaces are hive mind haters just because someone else told them to hate a product.
that charger is a great idea!
I’d like to see the window and overall size comparison with the Holosun 507 Comp
Just ordered one. I have a 507c on my 320 I’m gonna out this on my dagger. I didn’t realize it was that much bigger than the 507
Does it automatically start charging the sight or do you hold the button for it know to start charging?
I spoke to them early on and tried to discourage them as well against entering the market mainly due to the competition going against Holosun. I am pleased with what they were able to bring to market that takes many of the recommendations from the community while offering their own twist with unique Olight features.
It would be interesting so see if the chargers for olight flashlights would charge it as well. I'd be worried about losing the charger. Or it could be a cool upgrade for future models to be able to use those.
Is the mounting plate seated correctly? Seems high in the rear.
They are $40 off right now! Just ordered 2 in green laser! Great review! You sold me on them!
Sorry you wasted your money
@@platapus112 Why you used one and sent it back?
When you're old and have Glockoma, it sure is nice to have the Big Screen.
I need to see this on the Bog!!! Can it Co-witness with the flip up irons?
Don, this was a really great comprehensive and detailed review (as always). It gave me all the info and comparisons that I would need/want to be able to see the benefits and differences between all the competitive RDS’s on the market. I am really glad that Olight came out of the gate with green as (for me personally) I only use green sights! My preference, up to now, has been Holosun but after seeing this review, I think I am going to have to get one of these and give a go. I am curious as to how it stacks up size wise to my Holosun 507 Comp………it looks like the size will be very similar! With that in mind, this sight could be a game changer for the competition guys who are on a budget!
40$ off for the opening few days just on the the OSIGHT. Makes it 159. i’m 45 and I cannot get used to these red dots because the windows are too small! i’m going to give this a try. Already ordered it in a comb w/ the PL MINI Valk. 3 rail mount light new today as well for 60$ off the combo and used a 15$ off cupon 75$ off total plus 2 free gifts the i1R & The i3E..can't beat that! Oh free shipping lol
Just ordered. Thanks for the review
Bad move. This sight is horrible. Not everything olight makes is good. Don't drop it! One drop and it's done. Oh and it doesn't hold zero for shit.
A welcomed addition to the field of sights. Thanks Don for the unveiling.
*unwelcome
@@poesantana7679 Quit being an a.. hole and grow up.
So what happens when/not if/when your battery dies? Can it be replaced by the consumer or do you have to ship it back to Olight to be replaced or are you just screwed?
Goes in the garbage, where it should have went to begin with. Don't worry though cause it will never last long enough for the battery to die completely before it breaks.
I’ve had bad experiences with a couple OLight products but I always compliment them on their ingenuity and making their products rechargeable. Seriously, it’s 2024, why are so many electronics not rechargeable?
I love olight but this thing is hilariously massive!
I love my 2 Trijicon RMR HD’s! Just wish they offered them in Coyote Tan Color.
They have any plan to come out with a circle dot option?
ok,Im going to give it a try. Just ordered it and we will see how it stacks up. Like you said in a very crowded market. I like the ability to see the charge. Because this is so tall I may try this on my carbine instead of my handgun. I think they provided a free picatinny rail mount with the purchase today.
Give an update once you try it on a rifle, if it survives or not
That screen size i think this would be a better option for an AR pistol. Perfect for a Blackout
I want to buy one but think may wait/hope the come with model with circle around dot.
Seems to be similar in size to the 507 comp. Is that your impression?
..Charging holster,(solar or battery) powerbank on front picrail (CR,AAA),
Power source connected via anti loss coiled cord), powerpack in bottom compartment of the grip etc...
Wondered how long it would take Olight to jump into the market. LOL went to buy one and nope not till tomorrow.....great price.
What if the battery won’t charge anymore? How would you take the battery out if you needed to replace it because it won’t charge? Or would you just get another new optic from olight? How long is this rechargeable battery good for? Thanks 🤙

I made the mistake when first buying red dots that I bought the big 27mm swampfox and I was glad it fit in my safariland holster but I don’t think this one will
WOW 😮 Olight made a Red Dot sight. Two thumbs way up 👍👍
Olight haters will still hate though...
If the best thing about the optic is the charger... that's not saying much. They need to focus on making the sight bulletproof itself. I'll wait for version 2.0 before I consider looking further.
man I love this sight and price point especially.Paying $400-700 for overpriced sights is over!!!
Can you lock it on a certain setting ??
That’s cool
Should include a basic plastic hood for range use.
I’m sure they will fix the red glare on the top third of the window in gen2. Dustin Ellerman did a good job pointing out this flaw.
We need to see some torture test!! Can it handle being dropped?
S00ch you are my hero
what adapter plate are you using for the optic?
What gun are you using I see two different ones?
Recharge!!! Sold
For $50 more you can get a 407k
Not bad for the price. It would be great on a range toy or competition gun. I don’t think it’s great for ccw or duty use but it for the price it looks pretty good.
What is that charger you plugged into
Olight: we need a good, relatively inexpensive, fully enclosed emitter with a shield RMSc footprint for truly concealable defense EDC for those of us that have to go work hard for our money everyday. Can you help?
RMSc would be nice! Hopefully they will make a variety of sizes!?
If you work hard for your money then you should have the money to buy many lights . Olight went with one optic like everyone else at first . Companies never release an optic that checks every box . Just for a certain group . I like big optics like the SRO and holosun ummm Pro?haha it’s to early I can’t rember but I own it and it’s olights best light for pistols . It’s so nice . Anyways those two are the most used full size optic for competition and DUTY use
Yup. Once I tried fully enclosed, I can't go back. Holosun makes the cheapest version now -- but it's still over $300! If Olight can make one fully enclosed for under $200 and compares well to competitors in terms of durability and quality, these will sale well. Even if these red-dots, are under $150, I think I'm going to skip and wait and save money for a fully-enclosed one -- even if it would he the Holosun EPS.
(fully enclosed version are much easier and quicker to clean without any special tools at hand... basically without needing a cotton-swap/q-tip in hand. and prevents dirt from blocking the emmitter).
I use my non-enclosed red-dots only at the range, and home defense -- have too many of these. but for carry, it must be fully enclosed.
More than a few reviewers have found it doesn’t hold zero. Have you done any drop tests, and how many rounds through it so far?
So I went to check out at the olight sight but it won't let me and on Amazon it's not available.
My issue with rechargeable batteries is they are the same type as in your phone and after a couple years the battery starts to fail. For my money, I'd rather use top install throw aways...
Super cool. Hopefully it holds up to testing in the long run when it gets more popular. I’ve always been an olight fan so this is cool
Will this mount directly to the slide or do I need to get an optics plate?
RMR Footprint. It depend on your slide
It's a great feature but as useless as my motorcycle rain cover (it's always parked in the garage). If the battery can last 50k hours how often do you need a charger? I have 9 different reddots and for the past 8 years of shooting almost 20k rounds I only changed the battery once for the SRO.
Batteries go bad and lose capacitance over time. I like but I also want to know if I can change the re chargeable battery.
Nope. Can't change the battery. But it does have a lifetime warranty, and someone said the battery would be covered.
Olight hq less than 5 miles from my house...dropped by a few weeks ago and absolutely love their products.
Discovered them at local gun show and a diehard fan now.
Great products, packaging, and quality...very innovative products
What’s the fire rating
Lmao I seen this on reddit and thought it was a shit post, they actually made a red dot.
Will it work with canik pistols scootch👍
It's an RMR foot print
Can this red dot directly mount to a sig p365 x macro ?
I'm just happy someone is making a good red dot for less than a trillion bucks honestly it looks like a perfectly fine dot for defense or target shooting as long as you take care of your stuff it should last a long time
You can get a tested, reliable red dot (Holosun 407k) for the same price, if not cheaper. There's no way I'd buy this over a 407k.
Holding zero is kind of important though...
Charging cover is awesome but i would like to see something a little smaller down the line
Honestly, I don't hate it. Has some good features. Time will tell if it's a reliable/durable sight.
Unknows aside, seems like a good duty optic. Too large for an EDC.
Great Video (as usual) Love Olight, especially Baldr S light/laser and their flashlights. Nice to see them expand into optics since they seem to excel in other tactical areas. Presently have a SHIELD on my Glock 19. This might make a great replacement. I like the recharge “case”, the bigger window, the auto or manual modes. The SHIELD I have been using has NO selections buttons. Only auto by design. But sometimes AUTO is just not bright enough for these old eyes. Nice to see choices. Holosun is the predominant sight used on all my P365 variants. Hard to beat. But I might just have to try this Osight out on my Glock 19. Thanks for the review.
I assumed everyone was moving to enclosed emitters, so it's weird that they're launching a new open emitter model. I would never go back to an exposed emitter.
The 50,000-hour battery life is a game-changer, and the large lens provides excellent visibility.
Idk if magnetic charging is that great of an appeal vs the bunch of other pistol RDS with a CR1632 with either top mounted or tray mounted batteries for easy replacement without having to rezero the optic. I always keep CR1632s around since they're in my other optics and some other things so replacement is easy and I do it on a regular schedule. Unlike Olight's weapon lights, you can't detach it to charge it while keeping your weapon in the safe or case. I guess you could just throw the cover on it inside instead. We'll have to see how people accommodate to it or not.
I have watched a few videos on this sight. So far you’re the only one who likes it. The sight won’t hold zero after a few mags. And the glass breaks very easy.. why is your video so much different?? Did olight pay you?
I really wish that promo code worked. I would definitely buy it
Can't wait to try one out
Seriously?
I have astigmatism enough to cause most electronic dots to be fuzzy apostrophes if they're too bright(mainly on auto adjust). Does Olight do anything for that?
No. It's fuzzy if you have a astigmatism.
@@Tron2pointOh thanks
@@bjdog42 yup. I have the same issue.
@Tron2pointOh Cyelee claims some of their optics are made to address that. I'm gonna try one.
@@bjdog42 I think the holosun eps are supposed to do the best for astigmatism because of the double lense. I haven't tried it though. I'm about to give up on pistol dots. My astigmatism just turns them into a huge comet instead of a dot. On rifles the primary arms prism scopes really help though.
