On 17 June 2024, four new people: a Lady and three Knights were inducted into the Most Noble Order of the Garter.
It is the oldest and most senior order of British chivalry. lt was created by Edward lll in 1348.
The people admitted to the Order have all contributed greatly to British public life.

The Garter Knight in the first car was HRH THE Duke of Kent. Unfortunately, his sister HRH The Princess Alexandra due to ill-health was unable to attend. This is just for the record. Thank you, 'Travelling Solo' for your excellent coverage.

What was the march the band were playing as the Garter Knights entered St Geoge's Chapel?
@@matthewriddle1020I'm not home currently but once I get back, I will look this up in the printed programme I bought on the day
For the Procession, the programme states the first outward march is called Steadfast & True. The other march listed is called With Sword and Lance. I then went CZcams to see if either of these marches sound like the one in my video but they do not. It’s quite confusing because two military bands played on Garter Day. Each played at least 2 outward marches, 6 pieces under the heading’ Static Music’ and each played at least 2 outward marches. Sorry I am unable to pin this down for you
The march is Golden Spurs, by Samuel Rhodes who finished his military music career as Lt. Colonel Director of Music, Scots Guards, in the late 1950’s.

This is the coolest order imo. I hope they still follow the quirky little rules. I know when knights of the bath used to get created, they were totally nude to bathe which was fine until we reach Mary Tudor! She had someone step in for her. I don’t think they take it THAT seriously anymore 😂 I hope the knights are still created, but in a more modern and comfortable way.

I never thought about it before but I think you are right. Prince William may well be the youngest Knight of the Garter.

It seems similar but apparently, the stories of the knights of the roundtable are myths. Whereas the order of the garter has been in existence since 1348.
I just read a article about king Charles and Camilla feeling about harry , Camila no matter what harry is his son ,
Hopefully, they will resolve their issues sooner rather than later. It would be wonderful if Harry could be William’s right hand man, just as their mother had hoped.

Camilla is a member of the Order. I do understand your point of view. However , time has passed and Camilla has been married to Charles for almost 20 years now. When you look at it like that, it would be strange if , as his wife, she wasn’t a member. Despite everything, Catherine’s predecessor, Diana, will never be forgotten

That may be King Charles ' philosophy. I hope so. The chapel service was an hour long. I wish I had enough battery to film it. Next time, if I am fortunate enough to get one of those lucky , green tickets.
