- A defense attorney told jurors Wednesday that the death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins was an “unspeakable tragedy” but that “ Alec Baldwin committed no crime; he was an actor, acting.” Baldwin’s lawyer Alex Spiro emphasized in his opening statement in a Santa Fe, New Mexico, courtroom that Baldwin, who is on trial for involuntary manslaughter, did exactly what actors always do.

Well because of inept prosecutors case was dismissed with prejudice meaning he cannot be tried again the DA’s office failed to turn over evidence to the defense prior to the trial as required .

HE was responsible for the WHOLE SET!!! He was the PRODUCER!! And there were misfires on set before this incident!! He shot after “Cut” he wanted fast charging of firearms without time to check the weapons!! He gave Hannah a DUAL ROLE, half armorer and half proper!! He let the prop personnel hand guns over to actors!!
Sorry but this was absolutely NOT an accident, to many parameters that needed to fail for this to happen, and the B-crew all quit the day before…. I can smell a revenge action from far away!! Nothing like this just happened to happen the following day… it was created!
Blame the Prosecutors for their misconduct. If they didn’t hide evidence from the defense, it wouldn’t have gotten dismissed.
Baldwin said he doesn’t like guns, yet there was a live gun on set. The guy was careless on set and rush through it just to save money and in the end it cost her life. He deserves to do some jail time for what he did period. Do you agree with me??

I see your point, and from a certain perspective you could see it as gross negligence. But you have to remember, this guy has been on dozens of movie sets. The gun he handled was given to him by an armorer who was supposed to first check the chamber. What is crazy is how a live round ended up on set in the first place. Whoever brought a prop gun and decided to put a live round in it should be the one held responsible. I know it’s the person who fired the gun and he didn’t take gun safety as seriously as he should have, but what if he didn’t actually pull the trigger? What if? You don’t know for sure. Have you ever seen the movie 12 angry men? It’s a good example of how every little detail matters in cases like these.

Alec Baldwin should be charged with assault also for shooting Matthew Hutchins.
The armorer, Hannah Gutierrez Reed, had been hired to perform two jobs. One was the armorer in charge of guns and gun safety, and also an assistant to the prop master Sarah, who was in charge of the props used to simulate 1880s Kansas on the movie set south of Santa Fe, N.M. Rust' First Prop assistant director David Halls was sentenced in deadly on-set shooting. David was the last guy that told Alec that it was a cold gun. If you do your research correctly…you will find that it is not the law for actors to check guns when it is handed to them. Alec supposed to point the gun where the director says and he did several times with dummy bullets until the day more than one person didn’t do their job. That is not his fault.

@@Jeremy-th5pt It’s the same charge as Hannah and Dave. Dave took the deal and pleaded guilty. Probation. Hannah would never be able to work again around guns as a convicted felon so she chose to fight it and got maximum sentence which is 18 months ( will most likely serve less than half). Alec did not believe he was culpable and would not take the plea. So he can be charged with involuntary manslaughter as well with a maximum of 18 months. How are you imagining he should somehow be charged with something greater like second degree murder? Did you watch Hannah’s case with all the details? Why on earth would anyone want the director of photography dead? So, no, no one “ should be charged with murder.”
It doesn’t make sense .. he was a apis actor on a set of a film using weapons that are meant to look real.. he isn’t responsible for live rounds someone else brought in set. That was grossly negligent to bring live rounds on the set. 😢

This is a tragic incident that should have never happened, but the fact of the matter is Alec did not INTEND to kill, nor did he factually assume the gun was loaded with an actual bullet.

Because Helena was trying to get the gun being drawn out in the light of the church? He was doing the shot over and over to get it correct. She literally told him to aim at her armpit direction. He believes it isn’t loaded with live ammo. Hannah loaded it and said COLD GUN as did Dave Hall.
Obvious he has anger issues, but no way did he know the gun was loaded with a real bullet. Case closed.

Not guilty. An actor should not be charged for this shooting. The producer, the prop master, the armorer- there is a case for that- but an actor should not be charged for this kind of situation- his job was acting. Not set safety. . Also , just because you hate Alec Baldwin - that doesn’t mean he is guilty. Did Alec Baldwin bring real bullets into the set? This case is absurd.

@@Serenitynow958 Thanks! The whole thing makes me want to say- "serenity now! Serenity now!" Why? Having been in shows that used firearms- I could see that the armorers were SO GOOD and SO NECESSARY. The system was SO WELL RUN. I was on 24 for several seasons. The armorers were so good, that they gave us guns that didn't even work and immediately retrieved the guns seconds after the shot was completed. They were on it. PROFESSIONAL. To fire a BLANK in a staged Romeo and Juliet, we had an armorer on us the entire time supervising everything we did. Every night the steps were followed to the letter; there were more than 10 steps per shot. If you blame the actor for an accident like this- you are an idiot; You know nothing about acting or performing or stunts. NOTHING. That is like blaming the actor who died in the Twilight Zone movie years ago, for causing his own death, or even Brandon Lee. Grownups should be responsible for all the weapons and let the children do the fantasy acting. That is the correct and safe hierarchy. Have systems that are rigorous and FOLLOW THEM. Don't blame the actor- Baldwin didn't put the bullets in the gun. "Serenity now, " please!

They didn’t party with the crew either. Sharp and wouldn’t be smoking weed. I can’t take the ridiculous comments. Alec Baldwin is not guilty even if you MAGA people wish he were. Dave Halls pleaded to gun charge. He admitted that he made a mistake. The gun was supposed to be checked by him after the girls. That was not Alec Baldwin’s job. Actors do not have the duty to check the gun. The judge struck out the excuse that Alec was a co-producer. Alec will be acquitted. He should be. What happened to Halyna Hutchins was a tragedy for her and her family and for Alec Baldwin in a different way. He didn’t deserve this. It makes people wonder if he had been framed.

You guys blaming Alec are ridiculous. A race car driver wouldn’t be responsible if his wheel fell off due to the driver having no expertise in the engineering. Alec has no clue about guns and it’d be WORSE if he tampered with them. And to say a movie shouldn’t be pointing guns at people is the dumbest thing ever. The armorer was already charged I believe, that’s where the blame is. Just the same as if someone was electrocuted. Should Alec test the voltage on all the lights??

Tuggin at emotions has nothing to do with the facts. It’s a movie set, there was an armorer, these guns are props but, yes, are real guns; most movies use real guns due to it actually being cheaper as they sell them when they’re done. You asking the same stupid question is only showing your lack of understanding, not mine. If someone points a gun at anyone they are committing a crime, however that’s not what was happening.
People are being ridiculous for thinking Alec had any responsibility. You just hate him for playing Trump on SNL. Critical thinking means you realize Helena literally ASKED HIM TO AIM THE GUN AT HER TO GET THE LIGHTING ON THE GUN CORRECT. He’s an actor , not an armorer.
