Tribeca's Disruptive Innovator Award 2011! This award humbles me and I hope it humbles nations who care and share with me in making rehabilitation redemptive.
Byron F Garcia, has shown a great deal of integrity in introducing his program at Cebu. On these pages and other places, he and his ideas have been derided by people who have neither tried them out nor made their own contribution to the prisoners. Yet, there are present and former Cebu prisoners who testify that this program of dance and self-discipline has changed their lives. We can see the fun the prisoners are having as they dance. Good work, Mr. Garcia. You make a difference in lives.
Here is a person who made a difference. What is the last thing you did to make a difference? To inspire hope? To bring about change? Something with integrity and without greed or selfishness? He's taught intregity, hope, hardwork and teamwork. The self discipline alone that's involved in these dancers looking like they've spent their lives dancing is a testament to what his program has done.
Thank you Sir for your time. .and speech ..well done with your affect to help the guys to keep going and think postive ..you are a good men Sir ..bless you always. .🙏 Cheers from Australia
Mr. Garcia....God bless you for your courage and hard work!! I would like to know if you are aware of any other prison systems that have WISELY followed your lead, or, are most not brave enough to try? As a US citizen, I learned of your work through CZcams, wish that US prisons would give this a try! Also, your work introduced me to Asian music, language, culture, etc..a world I would not have explored otherwise. Salamat!
when relatives of these inmates are ashamed of them because they are in jail.....seeing them perform all these dance moves makes them forget that they are prisoners. They are in prison but they have fun. They are admired not of what they go to jail for but they are admired for what they did good while they are in jail. Each of them i'm sure is enjoying the dancing.. Cebuanos/ cebuanas are known here in the US for being a big fan of dancing and singing... maybe we can also explore singing
dghan kaaung salamat sir byroo garcia sooo proud of your innovation, you are true blue cebuano with a creative mind. just a question ikaw pba gdala sa dancing prisoners or dli na? im a ocw - (overseas cebuano worker) working here in qatar and it's been my long time dream to witness the dancing prisoners live but every time i go home in cebu
Mr. it is evident that you treat inmates as real human beings and with that they start beleiving in themselves and working a for and achieving individually and as a team a positive goal. Keep being such a good example. We would like to know what other reforms you have implemented inside. your prison.
It's to bad that because they are behind bars, people need to be petty and try to score cool points with negative comments. They do more work learning routines than many of us spend doing anything of worthwhile outside of work during our day. They weren't surfing CZcams...
Mr Garcia, I am impressed with everything you did. I even praised you in my social media who has 90,000 viewers, not as many as you of course. But I think when you do an acceptance speech, shouldn't it be at a proper location and posture? Coz it is some sort you were given, and giving an acceptance speech in a proper manner reflected your respect of that award. Having said that, keep up the good workl
i hope you also serve them nice meals and lots of respect and prisoners entertainment like watching movies karaoke and livelihood program and also their cell should at least well ventilated and organize so they won't feel like they are in prison because they are also human being who is trying to change their lives,
Angola State Prison host a yearly rodeo. Prisoners must be well behave in order to participate in the rodeo privilege. There is a documentary by....Frontline, if I can remember correctly.

Well deserved award at that. :) One of the many reasons I've always been proud to call Cebu my home.
Michael Jackson would be proud of how you have used his music and dance to help people and to spread his message of L.O.V.E.
