Yes. I quietly had the spicy version with onion rings back in mid July. It was decent. The sandwich has been out since at least June. The commercial with the lady and the psychiatrist he been running for months. Did Popeyes relaunch the sandwich in August? Maybe it was first launched a couple months ago to a few test area’s and was launched nationwide August 12. That’s the only thing I can think of... if that’s not the case then I’m confused as hell.

Folks, it's a marketing strategy. If I owned a restaurant, I would do the same thing. Whenever I'd introduce a new food item, I'd make sure not to have more than 15 of them. That way I could tell people, "Sorry folks, we sold out already. They sold like hotcakes!" Everybody will be anxious to try them after I put the word out.

I’m willing to bet there were two major reasons why they “sold out” 1. The employees most likely were getting over worked and probably started threatening to quit 2. I really wouldn’t be surprised if somewhere out there some people literally started fighting over the sandwiches and Popeyes dint want that kind of trouble on their hands but I could be wrong

As a current Popeyes employee, I can say that we ran out of the chicken sandwich because we ran out of the buns. It has nothing to do with the flower the chicken is breaded in or the chicken piece itself. It is simply the buns. A confirmed release date for the chicken sandwich will be 1 October.
