    I think they should add an AA readiness buff so each time your ship gets hit by carrier ordinance you get a stacking aa buff with a 3 minute timer so the Carriers cant focus you all game and is forced to at least swap targets or get punished

      The CV rework in testing has something like that. Won't be as long-term, but it looks like it's meant to say "if you try to drop the same guy 3 times he'll start to chew your planes up".

      @@nlb137 The way the system in testing works is when your AA is active you start charging a meter that does not decay and when the meter is full it buffs your AA for several minutes.

    When I started to play this game many years ago, a Tier 10 Atlanta-ish cruiser , with longer range was appealing. But those floaty arcs always made the Worcester hard to play for me. Now if I was to play an HE spamming light cruiser at Tier 10, I just take out my Jinan. The range is long enough to be useful, flatter shell arcs, smoke and oh those torps!!

      Who cares about flatter arcs when this has a ton more armor, more ap pen, more HE pen, radar and more usable heals alongside with cracked maneuverability and turning circle all in one?? You say the arcs are a bad thing as if you aren't able to hit ships over islands for camping behind them (ie a des Moines or anything else for that matter) and they can't do anything in return to you hence dislodging most campers for playing too passively. I like jinan as well and it feels like kitakami and Austin had a baby born with insane potential but Worcester eats up jinans alive by virtue of radar alongside any dds that dare cross its path, which is something jinan might not do particularly well on its own without a radar or severely outpositioning a dd. One thing I will say jinan does slightly better is the lower caliber ap shells tend to not overpen as much into dds so you have a bit more ease of use there

      Jinan has poor ballistics than any cruiser. Probably on pair with Colbert.

      @@Joakico You´re mistaken, the ballistics on the Jinan were recently buffed. True, they are not ¨Russian level¨ ballistics, but it is now far easier to hit targets even a max range. The Colbert and the Worcester are much worse.

    Pretty excited to see Jacksonville, which is the T11 US CL I think. The T8 Cleveland is still one of my favs to this day, and Worcester is just a better Cleveland.

    Rng, I was having an amazing azuma game yesterday, 260k DMG double arsonist, high calibre, Confederate, witherer, still had 20k health and damage to be farmed when the CV came for me and rng decided I'd had enough fun and detonated me. I sometimes think the Devs actively hate the player base.

    I would really like for you to try SPLIT tier 8 destroyer, the most balanced ship in the game, I would like to see if you can use him good, cause it is really balanced ship, nothing on him is too much. Fun little ship with nice guns.

      Skip Seattle it's a floating citadel and had some bad turrets angles keep playing Cleveland I have it too Cleveland can easily do a lot of damage and fires

    new-ish player here, whats this about ifhe and 32mm, is it some kind of general armor threshold you want to get over why...? im asking because in about every discussion ive seen on the subject about half say its not needed and the other half says its good to take in high tier.

      32mm is the common thickness of outer armor on battleships at T8 and higher. Taking IFHE means you'll be able to penetrate their armor from your HE, means more damage.

    off topic, but i hope everyone rips WG a new one for the huge nerf to the credits and xp in the current round of d-day ops. funny they never fix the mistakes that go in their favor, but always do a quick fix when something is in the players favor.

    Mine is colbert but worcester is a 2nd favorite soley because of how insane it can be to scare bbs with its agile rudder shift to bounce tons of shells youd think it has no business doing (while angling just enough to make whatever shells pen your bow just overpen into the sea and not your citadel) that with only to roast them into oblivion or using the nutty dpm to to create a crossfire of ap hornets that rip apart most half health bbs for thinking that some light cruiser doesnt have menacing damage until its too late for them to do anything. The radar being some of the highest uptime in the game makes it a mauling machine for anything that depends on smoke for cover lends itself to a real feast or famine sort of feel but once you get used to all of its strengths and have feasts all day, there is little that comes close to how satisfying it is to pull it off

    I mean you're whole argument against CVs can be used against BBs and over-match as well I mean lets be fair, a Yamato or even that Kremlin just has to click on you in a CL and there isn't much you can do about it. They will just get free damage regardless of if you are angled properly or not. You just take damage. Difference is that BB is doing that again in ~30 seconds, that Midway dropped it's last Torp bomber attack at 6:40, and with you travelling towards the Midway and being ~15km away didn't get his next attack off until 7:33, nearly a whole minute later, and only got 10k damage out of that attack, while losing planes thus hurting the CVs ability to do that again. Aircraft might be fast, but shells are faster. I mean hell, rocket planes in general have a rough 4-5 second window just for the machine gun time on their attacks. That's the time it takes Worcesters shells to travel 7km.
    For comparison a Yamato while sure it *could* be being shot at during that time, fires every 26 seconds before AR, could have fired at you twice and likely would have gotten a lot more than 10k damage. Seeing as 10k is less than 10% of his potential damage output per salvo. That Yamato *could* have also been 26km+ away far outside of your gun range and still gotten at least 10k damage if the Yamato player can aim. Big ask I know, but point stands. I would imagine you yourself PQ could get at least 10k damage out of a Yamato over two salvos at 26km, and it's not like your Yamato will lose a barrel or two after firing a few times and need to repair them.
    I'm not saying the interaction is perfect between surface ships and CVs, but what I am saying is situations like 6:08 are the bullshit ones. That Midway made no mistakes, he slowed his planes to avoid the flak spawned in front of them, and the game spawned more flak inside the squad because he had reached the inner limit of where flak can spawn so it spawns inside the squad. DDs with DefAA can do this on purpose as well. Leading to Fenyang being an amazing AA DD if you know how to abuse the flak mechanics. (Full AA build Worcester can also basically be a no fly zone even when DefAA is down, the main issue is the CV needs to be attacking YOU or a team mate close to you because your long range AA is kind of bad.)
    Is it fun for a CV to just fly up and drop some bombs on you? No not really, it's equally not fun to be sitting in a cruiser and having a Yamato/Bungo/Ohio/Georgia/Enter the name of any other 30mm overmatch here, just double click on you from 20+km away and you lose 10-40k+ HP with nothing you can do about it. Difference is, there isn't a CV in every game. At T10 there is ALWAYS at least ONE 30mm overmatch ship on the other team.
    I am expecting this to get a lot of hate so enjoy the engagement boost PQ, but it is a legit question, why are CVs bad and unfun, but over-match mostly/completely fine? I mean you've said it yourself PQ you find 406mm guns to be "small" for T10 because you want that over-match. So why do BBs get to deal free damage regardless of the angle of their target, but CVs are bad when they deal "free" damage at the cost of their way of dealing damage?

      As someone who plays mainly cruisers, sometimes BBs and despises both CVs and overmatch it boils down to one thing - at least you can do something about BB shells coming your way. With how passive meta is, BBs are too scared to come closer than 18km (and that's being generous). Between the time they fire and shells reaching you, you have more than enough time to accelerate/decelerate or turn in/out, even if you notice the shells a bit late. Not to mention BBs dispersion is absolute fiesta, it's not that surprising to aim at waterline at 15km and half shells straight up goes to the next postal code or just land short thanks to the spaghetti WG is serving us.
      Meanwhile CVs? While you can to degree mitigate rocket damage depending on the animation lenght, torpedo bombers can straight up cross drop you with double or even triple drop if your flak RNG sucks. And dive bombers? Remember all the angling or turning in/out? In case of dive bombers CV goes "lmao XD" and simply adjust bombs mid attack, something no other class can do. Imagine if Jinan or some DD noticed you are dodging torpedo spread and just goes "lol nope" and magicaly bends them to turn to your ship in order to hit it.
      The worst part about anti-cv defence is the fact it's pure flak RNG. You either luck out and decimate incoming squadron (which any CV player with 2 functioning brain cells will just outright avoid doing or cancel the run entirely), or just shoot down 1 or 2 planes. And that's with full AA build involving aux mod 3 with DFAA active.

      @@UnknownDream92 You can only do something about those BB shells coming in, when you know they are coming. Let's be real not all of us run Incoming Fire Alert to know when that BB 20+ km away on the opposite flank that has line of site has shot at you. You will almost always see the aircraft coming. Plus in a lot of situations it's ether move to avoid the shot from the other side of the map, and likely expose yourself to the BBs on the flank you're on, or don't move and eat the shells. The result is still damage being done, and very likely by a ship that is outside of your main battery range. Not saying this is every time, but in my decently extensive experience playing Cruisers that happens more often than it doesn't these days. Lord help you if there is a Bungo on the other team on the opposite flank.
      CVs also deal with dispersion just not to the exact same extent, though at some tiers it sure feels like it. Ever tried to get consistent damage out of Ryujo's dive bombers? Shokaku's aren't much better. They drop so few over such a large area you are lucky to get more than a rough 30% hit rate. Even with maxed out accuracy there is still dispersion to everything a CV does. Can be really funny playing a CV with 3 torp bombers and watching two drop right on top of each other while the other is off all on it's own. Then it gets sad as the ship you are trying to torpedo just turns into the gap the game gave them purely by RNG. I'm not saying CVs aren't more consistent than say BBs. But when that CV has around a 45-70 second time between attacks and that BB has a 26s time between attacks, and the damage potential difference is as large as the gap between CVs and BBs, (133,200 max damage from Yamato's 9 guns that ignore a lot of armour, if all 12 of Hakuryu's torp bombers hit AND the target has no torpedo bulges it's only 111,996 damage, and the Hakuryu has to put in a lot more effort than the Yamato and that damage is spread over 6 different attacks)
      That is something else to consider is CVs are putting in a lot more effort than just "fly to target and left click twice" you need to aim the attack, adjust your aim as best you can when the target maneuvers, then for your follow up attack assuming you can make one you are likely going to be at a worse angle of attack and on a shorter timer because the longer you spend closer to a ship the more AA damage you take. Bit of an extreme example but my Gouden Leeuw gives even FDR about 4 seconds per plane once he's within 3.5km before I've focused my AA or popped DefAA everything running and he's losing a plane every 2 seconds he's within 3.5km of me. Yes GL is an extreme example, I've got a full AA build on the thing because I found it's AA funny. CVs tend to take one pass and never come back unless they literally have no other option.
      BBs just double click, or at the more lazy just hold down left mouse. They don't even have to input a full left click and get damage. Normally 8-12k damage at the low end if their aim was good. Then they get to do that again in roughly 26 seconds. CVs it's entirely situational if they get to even get a second attack off. If they don't now they've got to travel back to the target, spending likely on average 45-55 seconds.
      I'm not saying it's fun to have a CV focus you down, and attack you over, and over, and over again. What I'm saying is I'd rather it be a CV and not a Yamato or Satsuma, because at least you will live longer against the CV and you are at least getting some spite kills on their aircraft that DOES give you reward payout. The potential damage from the Yamato or Satsuma sitting so far away you likely can't even shoot back means next to nothing, while air damage reward(if I remember correctly) 50% of the planes HP as regular damage reward.(I could be wrong on this, remembering a news post from years ago at this point)
