Thanks for taking us along on your day in Northern Cyprus, Gabriel. I really enjoyed it! Those donkeys were so funny how they just came right up and stuck their heads right in the car! 😂I'm grateful for your videos, because I get to see so many places up close that I probably will never get to visit in person. I love learning about different cultures, and seeing different landscapes and environments.
Just come back from there. The donkeys are great and the north us beautiful
Gabriel, in case you haven’t figured it out yet, you don’t have phone service because T mobile does not offer any service in north Cyprus.
Just like no international airline flies to the occupied north of Cyprus no legitimate phone company offers service to the occupied north.
Would you expect T mobile to offer service to Crimea?
damn
Apostolos Andreas Monastery has been built in the place where it is believed that Apostle Andreas has reached Cyprus as an Apostle from the holy lands. As a Greek and as per my name (Andreas) it has a special place for me especially since it is in the occupied part of Cyprus. I always considered of traveling there . Thank you for this virtual journey.
You can come… Two state solution will happen
Oh that was great and thanks so much for sharing all the hard work you put into each video. Appreciate the videos even more. Love these random road trips showing out of the way places. Northern Cyprus looks so interesting and those donkeys were cute. Hope you had a nice beer to relax afterwards. Cheers ❤️😊🍺
I appreciate the way you as a traveler are a witness to all that you experience, without passing judgment or taking sides.
Amazing how you can always find the beauty in desolation and present it so well. Great job.
Gabe, thank you for shearing great video. We really enjoyed your videos give us more relaxing time. We are waiting next video. Chaos
Your Northern Cyprus video is amazing! 🏞️✨ Captured the essence beautifully. The scenic views and your storytelling make me feel like I'm right there with you. Thanks for sharing this delightful journey! 🌍🌟

You are an excellent CZcamsr/photographer/editor/cinematographer/... . I thoroughly enjoy your videos. Thank you for traveling the world, visiting unique places and taking us along!! Hello from Phoenix, AZ.
Another Awesome Adventure Gabriel🙂
Thank you for this great video! Your exploration of Northen Cyprus is very interesting, there are always curious ruines, churches and splendid views. I see for the first time homeless donkeys.
Yes another awesome new video
Amazing view brother...
We visited for two nights in 2004 and came back in 2006 to plan for our retirement. Moved over permanently in 2012 once my Mum was no longer here. Have never regretted it, it’s a wonderful place to be
Wonderful. I’m thinking of planning for my retirement in Crimea. It’s a very beautiful place and since Russia liberated it the prices have been very low.
@@mn7486 don’t go to Russia! Wait for ukraine to liberate.
@@Tay12345 Russia liberated Crimea just like Turkey liberated North Cyprus.
We've just got back from Bogaz, we live in the UK. North Cyprus is a beautiful country, we are planning our return already!
@@fenixvolt2777 Don’t forget to visit Crimea next, really nice country now that it has been liberated by Russia.
LOL @ 29:02 .Gabe, your donkey feeding time looks like something that belongs on MY youtube channel! haha...Great video! Cheers!
This is a truly great series of videos. I know this part of the world reasonably well, but it's interesting and refreshing to see it through a new pair of eyes and from a different perspective. As others have pointed out elsewhere, there is a dearth of videos on Northern Cyprus, little more than 'brave souls' (sic) crossing the border at the end of Ledras Street, or short vids advertising property for sale in Kyrenia. I'll be sad when you leave TRNC :(
The donkey situation just made me smile sooo much! 🙏❤️☮️
Always fun to feed the animals lol
Hi Gabriel, you fed the donkeys with a type of plant called carob. It is a bit sweet and has a unique taste, and is suitable for human consumption as well. In the Mediterranean region they also make chocolate bar from it. 😊
Great video !!! 😃😃😃❤❤❤😄😄😄
Wow, these donkeys are so likeable, beautiful and nice. Thank you for this video.
Great video, the donkey food is Carab. It's sweet and a bit chocolaty. They make a syrup from it.
I'm waiting for Gabe's first ever livestream. Guaranteed he'll make at least a hundred dollars or more from superchats in one sitting, as seen with many other youtubers.
Hi Gabe great video on northern Cyprus amazing place not as touristy as the south its more laid back enjoy your adventures☺

Hello Gabriel ... We enjoy your videos a lot and your narration. Thank you. The food that you gave to the donkeys is from a tree called Carob, the pods are green then they turn dark, the pods are then pressed and molasses is made from them which is very healthy and tasty. The donkeys have great taste buds . Carob trees usually are found in Lebanon, Syria, and I guess Cyprus has them as well.
Hi Gabriel, what you can do when you don't have an internet connection is to pre-plan your trip, and make points like A - First stop, B - Second stop and so on. For eg - Start from your hotel then go to Church 1 (Stop A) then Beach (Stop B) then Other place (Stop C) and back to the hotel (Stop D). In this way it will be similar to the way you are traveling without internet , you will get your live location and also don't have to go to only 1 place. I did the same while traveling in Goa, but there is a limit of 10 stops in Google maps. 😅😅 I love watching your videos. And as you just go with the flow, my tip may not be helpful for you 😅😅😅
If you feed the donkey, other interested parties will come.😊Awsome snaps!
Yep, one of those fundamental laws of the universe.
I like the scenery of the peninsula. It is very Mediterranean.
Smart little boy, donkey food seller. Good seller! 😂😂😂He's gonna be a rich guy when he grows up.
Great video thank youuu
29:43 it's Carob..commonly found along the Aegean and the Mediterranean coast..Turks make a molass (pekmez) of it, it has many health benefits.
Your a real trooper feeding donkey's out of your car window how cool is that...
I loved watching you feed the donkeys, so cool
Are you sure this donkey was asking for food?
I think it was licence and registration.
The beach is like endless and awesome. 🏝️
Beautiful place.
I really enjoy every piece of this 😂❤❤❤
Hi, the donkey food is Carob, it's a very sweet pod that grows on a tree, it's similar to chocolate, it's very sweet and is used to make pastes and such
Ah, Cyprus, where even the goats have better tan lines than most tourists! It's like the island's been in a constant competition with the sun for centuries. Kidding aside, one of the countries I wished where my dart would land is here in Cyprus. I wish sooner.
amazing video.. eyes of the donkey is beautiful
I was going to visit it, but now I don't need to, as you were there and I have seen everything.
I really need a new pair of jeans. Saw some online today, so I don't need to buy them.

Have you tried downloading the offline map on google maps while you have WiFi?
Those donkeys further away from the city liked pretty bad. Guess the city ones are well fed.
Loving the churches and other structures. Even that newer monastery was beautiful.
I think the lion may be a Venetian symbol, they resemble the lion in St Marks square in Venice.
That makes sense.
In Morphou, St Mamas monastery is dedicated to the hermit that rode through the town on a lion. Just like the one above the door of this church.
Nicenice. I’m baking myself in Bundi, Rajasthan, got my 5year visa at last. Heading down to Gokarna on Sat, Rajdhani Express.
Nice man, enjoy. I'm thinking about India for the fall.
I have been in that situation with the phone. Before you leave wifi start the map. It will work until you stop the map. Don't touch it as it is easy to lose the map.
While Gabe is taking his videos and makes his living an entire nation is mourning!
The reason for not getting service is because his western cell phone company imposes sanctions to the occupied illegal northern part of the island. He does not have this problem in the free republic of Cyprus, a few miles south.

New vid!
Been following your channel for a while. Finally subscribed today! Thought I would make a suggestion after you explaining the issue of poor mobile internet. Have you tried downloading the Google Map of Cyprus onto your phone, to be used offline? If android tap your profile picture and then offline maps and select the area you want to download. We did this in Sardinia recently. Works well except for "traffic updates" but it doesn't look like it's a problem in Cyprus 😂 BTW, we're from Santa Cruz, NorCal😎
Amazing, I didn't know about that option, downloading it right now.
2nd probably...cheers!
First man, big congrats. 👍👊
@GabrielTravelerVideos Gotta say your video are simply the best! Cheers 🍻
Haha, donkeys are cool👍
11:30 That is a nice building. It seems to be abandoned and untended.
Hey Gabriel. Are you still in North Cyprus?
Yes. This video was filmed two days ago.
Thanks for all the enlightenment, Gabriel. Regarding Google Maps, why not download the whole country and navigate offline?
Gabriel…would you ever travel with a fellow CZcamsr? My wife and I sure enjoy your videos.
Yes: czcams.com/video/_poyctbFxp4/video.html
@@GabrielTravelerVideosI’d love to do Bosnia / Kosovo / Serbia, but anywhere would be fine. I’m a 32 year retired Army Colonel and would love to join you for an adventure.
What! I work in an office 8 to 9 hour days in the same area I grew up in boring pennsylvania. 38 years in same office. Lol. No fair complaining about world traveling for a living! No matter how much boring work involved.
Maybe t mobile can help with some settings or choose the network manually etc
My Swedish phone changed to Turkish internet once I choosed the Turkish network manually when I was in the TRNC in 2021. It actually worked perfectly.
I tried manually connecting but no luck. No biggie since things are working out and I'm not here for long.
The British military bases there have phone boxes like in England 😅
Can you tell us about price of nice small home. How much is rent of home ???? A month rent
Hi Gabriel, what camera do you use to film your videos?
DJI, there's a link in the description.
You should have bought some apple's for the donkey's, plenty fruit in Cyprus 😄
29:45 Is that carob, of the legume family?
you feed the donkeys with Cherubs! (Cherub tree)
The food that you feed the donkeys is carob from carob tree!
FAMAGUSTA.........THAT IS THE PLACE WHAT YOU HAVE TO SHOW US....THAT WILL BE GREAT.
Can you👀detail the cost of living. can you have 24 hour internet access
HI Gabriel
Hi there. ✌️
We need Gabriel to start a podcast.
Which side of the road are you driving on is it the same as London, England
They drive on the left, funny as well, considering their brother nations in Greece and Turkey drive on the right.
Yes, on the left same as England, because Cyprus was a British colony.
It almost sounds like your GPS is turned off
It's no internet connection. It happened as soon as I entered northern Cyprus. GPS is working in terms of at least showing me where I am on the map.
you mentioned all the time it takes you to edit and upload your videos each day have you thought about emailing your video footage from each day to someone and they do all the editing and uploading for you, perhaps a friend or family member or pay someone to do it, that would free up more time for traveling
Bon appetite :))
Thank you for promoting North Cyprus. ❤

Did you ever find out what that abandoned grand old building at the top of the stairs was?
Nope, I haven't come across any additional info since seeing it.
@@GabrielTravelerVideosas far as I am aware it is a closed school. It's identical to our occupied village school, situated in a Turkish training camp. So no access.
@@dizzeeblondee5309 I see. Must be built by the British I would imagine and abandoned either in 1960 when Cyprus gained independence or else in 1974 after the invasion.
@@GabrielTravelerVideos no it most certainly will not have been abandoned in 1960. These schools were for Greek children and were very much in use right up to the 1974 invasion.
Yes, Greek or Cypriot schools tend to be built in a classical style, and have a colonnade like that at the entrance.
Looks like the donkey chow is carob
I see, good to know. I had no idea what the carob plant looked like, even though I've eaten lots of carob chips.

It's carob , χαρούπι in greek, τεράτσι in cypriot greek. 29:50 hahaha the donkey knows exactly what you just did and stands near the window waiting.
Hi Gabriel, regarding the phone service, that area of the Island seems to be using only 2G or 3G and it doesn't seem like they have 4G service, at the very least slow Internet. They really need to upgrade the service, possibly no demand for it. It's funny how they still have these Greek churches in the area so I'm assuming that a large number of Greeks still live in the area. Beautiful beach a bit of rough water very murky a lot under current.
Greeks are only .2% of the population of Northern Cyprus. I think most of the churches are just old churches that have been abandoned and aren't really used, perhaps a few of them are attended by some of the remaining Greeks.
PS. Here's some more info about the town where I stopped at the church and the mosque:
"Before 1974, the town was predominantly inhabited by Greek-Cypriots. During the Turkish invasion of Cyprus in 20 July 1974, the peninsula was cut off by Turkish troops, and this prevented the town's Greek-Cypriot inhabitants from fleeing to the south. As a result, with 250 Greek Cypriot inhabitants, Rizokarpaso is the home of the biggest Greek population in the North. Between 1974 and 1985, however, around 2500 Greek Cypriots left the village. Although the Greek-Cypriot population is now mainly elderly and shrinking in size, they are still supplied by the UN, and Greek-Cypriot products are consequently available in some places."
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rizokarpaso
@@GabrielTravelerVideos it's it's still kind of strange how they've maintained it for the Greek people there I guess the remaining people who live there but they still have the availability to see these things there they could have easily knocked them down and not doing anyting. And of course you have a dwindling population from what you've indicated from what you got.
@@wilfredotorres6628
It’s not uncommon for the Turks to defile elements of culture which they do not respect and claim “ownership” of the works of other cultures when they find it beneficial.
In the occupied part of the island, few stand and many have been converted to mosques or demolished.
UN has imposed sanctions to the occupied territory thus no cell service direct flights or boat transportation. Sadly, it has become a Turkish Provence.

According to Google Cami is pronounced Jaam-e
More like D-jam-ee, with the emphasis on -ee and (considering the "opening" of the word) the -D and -j,combined together, spelled really heavy, like Djibouti, for example. I'm pretty sure that the Turkish people spell it like this, because we use the same word in greek language
