      I have watched the sermons and numerous services all through the last two years both before and after my conversion. They really capture what I think of as true Orthodoxy.

    I have never known anything about the Orthodox Church, only Protestant and Catholic. I have thought that you are the ones who worship idols, now I know that you worship God, and everything and all the saints in God. While, for example, many celebrities and many in Hollywood are false idols, and that one worships as an example something materialistic. And I thought it was evil to call someone other than God father. Now I know that of course, you spiritual fathers speak God's truth and are in the holy spirit, and then is it God's when we call you fathers. There is also something close safe and familiar about holy fathers. Very interesting and good that such humble people as you are the truth. Good to have found what I have to listen to in order to learn life's most important teachings.

    Iam trying to follow god, but i cant complete the way, so I need your help to deliver us a sermon about how we can fight distractions of minds, boredom in spiritual practices like prayers, bible reading and liturgy, and how to cure our heart inclination to mundane things.

    Please help me understand about Judas.
    In the Gospel Judas is said to have repented yet hung himself. What has happened to Judas? I feel so sorry for him.
    The Gospel said he repented. It was in the service of Holy Thursday.

    • @TheMikeSkvor
      @TheMikeSkvor Před 2 měsíci +2

      As our Metropolitan has said many times throughout his sermons: he went to the wrong high priest. Since they didn’t care Judas fell into despair and hanged himself. It’s a sad state.

    • @mortalsclub
      @mortalsclub Před 2 měsíci

      @@TheMikeSkvor I understand all that. But Judas repented. It’s in the Gospel.

    • @NoeticInsight
      @NoeticInsight Před 2 měsíci +2

      @@mortalsclub repented just means to change one’s mind about something. So he realised his guilt and his wrong, he repented in that sense, but he did not repent in the full sense by going to Christ and asking for forgiveness. Which is a necessary step/part of completing repentance.
      He fell into despair and killed himself. He believed his sin against Jesus was so great that Jesus/God would never forgive him. That is why Judas, unfortunately, will be in hell. Not because God doesn’t want to forgive him, but because Judas is so overwhelmed by despair that he has no faith in God’s mercy. He will never ask for forgiveness because he doesn’t believe God will grant it. So he stays in perpetual guilt and grief. It’s very sad.
      That is why hell is permanent. Not because God hates people, not because He doesn’t want to forgive even those in hell. But because the fire of hell is actually God’s love and glory pouring out on them…but those who rejected God in this life will not be able to bear his glory and love. They will feel his love as burning fire because it is their self guilt and self damnation. They will feel so guilty for having rejected God’s love that they will never ever ask for forgiveness. They believe God won’t ever heal them and have mercy on them. That’s why His love burns them in hell. This is why hell is so teething and why we would never want anyone to go to hell and why we should pray even for the worst people for God to help them and have mercy on them and forgive them.

      The translation can be a little misleading. The original Greek does not use the word "metania" which means repentance, but another word which could also be translated, "he thought it over."

    • @mortalsclub
      @mortalsclub Před 2 měsíci +2

      @@OrthodoxTradition thank you. The English text should be corrected. Nonetheless He was obviously in distress and his “thinking over it”lead to his suicide. His hanging of himself can be interpreted as extreme despair for his betrayal of our Lord. I’m not condoning suicide. I just see Judas as someone who was seeking mercy and forgiveness- but how could he get it when God Himself is the one he betrayed?
