- Windows 11 Narration (Text To Speech) Walkthrough [Tutorial]
Narrator reads aloud the text on your PC screen. It also describes events such as notifications and calendar appointments, which lets you use your PC without a display.
Text to speech, also known as Narrator in Windows 11, is a tool that reads out loud the text on the screen, as well as the various actions a user takes while working. The Narrator tool is, therefore, helpful to those with visual impairment who cannot read the text on the screen.
Several users with a clear vision may find this feature annoying as it hampers their work. Imagine working on a system with the text to speech feature enabled. You will hear every action you take, anything you type, and hear the text on the screen. If your work involves concentration, this feature will be detrimental to it.
Text to speech is, turned off by default. If it is enabled on your computer, you can easily disable it in settings or using the keyboard shortcut.

hmm it's not intuitive at all and this does not help. I just want a pdf or a website read aloud!
Is this just for navigation? It always reads other crap. it doesn'T help that the text i read is in another language then my win language setting.
Agreed how hard can it be to implement "select text right click and read aloud function." Its 2023 and were still having an operating system that acts like windows 95 its ludicrous
I was hoping to see a demonstration of narrator but that wasn't included in the video. Narrator in Windows 10 isn't great so I'm hoping it's better in 11
Hi there! I need help!! My friend is visually impaired and she needs to know how to keep the narrator turned ON always (all time "needs the narrator to start as soon as the laptop turns on". Please advice, thanks in advance.
:)
In windows settings, in ease of access settings, then narrator settings. There should be "Start-up options"
i pasted new text but it just keeps replaying what i pasted in the past in a loop :/ who made this
this wasn't helpful. I want to be able to select text right click and be able to selected a "read aloud" option... I dont see that anywhere
How do you slow the speed
Hello, my wife is mute and wants to use her pc to talk to me , how can we set up narrator so when she types it will read out loud what she said ? , thank you
if you have Microsoft Edge installed she can type in the browser, then right click at the beginning of the text or select the text she wants to read and choose "read aloud" after right clicking. You'll also get a bar on the top side of the window where you can select a different voice or change the speed. It sounds pretty good too.

The redundant "Go ahead" for everything is uniquely American.
