Making EVERY Gen 1 Pokemon A Spirit Battle for Super Smash Bros Ultimate

- Spirit battles are one of the most fun ways super smash bros ultimate goes about referencing the several different franchises within it. Pokemon is of course one of the biggest franchises in smash ultimate, and that means there are a lot of pokemon spirits. However, not every pokemon got a spirit battle in smash ultimate, so to coincide with the release of brilliant diamond, shining pearl, and the upcoming legends arceus, I've decided to create spirit battles for every single one of the original 151 pokemon from red, blue, and yellow for super smash bros ultimate!

Okay really cool idea. We take these Spirits, and someone mods smash bros ultimate to play exactly like pokemon red and blue. but when you encounter a trainer or wild battle, the custom spirit battle occurs. You can still level up your character just like in pokemon just by updating it's attack/jump/defense stats
Woah that does sound like a really cool idea for a mod, definitely would be interesting to see how leveling would work with a system like that!

I have an idea/challenge: Create a spirit battle for each fighter spirit, but with 2 conditions:
1. The battle cannot use the original fighter
2. Try to only use Miis as a last resort

23:47 idea for cloyster is to have his attack and speed raise and his defence to drop when he’s at high percent, to reference shell smash, a move he commonly uses.
Good idea, and maybe it could be very weak to magic and electric attacks due to its poor special defense stat. First its defense(take less damage from jabs, punches, kicks, etc) should be high, then low after using shell smash.
I think Sephiroth could be MissingNo, since his final smash causes random effects (and if you squint super hard his down special kinda looks like MissingNo itself). To reference this, his final smash meter would charge very fast and he would often use down special.
Please dear god don't let Seph spam final smash
Make it spawn a ton of Master Balls and then make the spirit itself give you a Master Ball to reference the MissingNo Item Duplication.
A legendary spirit
As another psuedo-pokemon one, the substitute doll could be a Green Greninja that spams down B on Pokemon Stadium 1.
I always felt like there should be a unique spirit effect
“the enemy’s [X] attacks have a fire/ice/PSY/etc effect”

heres an even bigger challenge, make a spirit battle for every grain of sand in the desert resort from pokemon black and white.
You should have used snake in ekans fight and controls could be reversed, referencing to ekans' name.

18:25 For a reference to Kadabra's and Alakazams spoons, we could have an invisible Villager who only uses down smash. Kadabra has one villager and Alakazam has two. That way the spoons can be referenced and it will make the battle stand out

I think the spirit battle for Onix should just be a big snake that prefers using grab attacks, and like you said, harder to launch. (Hey it's better than White King K Rool lol)

Jynx, electabuzz and magmar are the trio of the punches since each one of the 3 learns one of the elemental punches, ice punch, thunder punch and fire punch respectively
I would like to see something similar to this, but with the gym leaders, Elite 4 members, and champions of each region. (I am actually quite surprised none of them got spirits.)
I would definitely like to see the other generations done eventually. Since gen 1 has so many more Pokemon than anything else (save gen 5), the others should be a lot easier and quicker to make (again, except for gen 5)
Technically Gen 1 is the most represented Pokemon gen in Smash Spirits (at Least I think that), so other gens would also have more work than this, even more if we add Mega Evolutions, Alolan/Galarian/Paldean forms and Gigantamax forms
Onix should’ve been represented by snake because onix is a… solid snake

I made a spirit battle for every boss in SMO :)
Madame Broodal: Peach in red alt with a large PAC Man
Topper: Luigi in normal colors
Harriet: Daisy in blue alt and the only items are explosives
Rango: Ness in yellow alt (It’s the best I could do, there is no one with a fedora)
Spewart: Donkey Kong with white alt and poison floor
Knuckletoc: Kirby in blue alt with an invisible little mac who only uses neutral B with icy floor
Torkdrift: White ROB with the blow vacuum item
Mechawiggler: Purple Yoshi with super scope in reference to the tanks used to fight the mechawiggler
Mollusque-Lanceur: Purple inkling who mostly uses up+B but can use other moves
Cookatiel: Falco with red alt with a lava floor
Ruined Dragon: Purple Charizard with electric floor
Bowser: Bowser with a lava floor
Mechabroodal: Large ROB with green/brown alt with 3 small red falcos, with only explosives and the ROB is distracted by explosives

One addition to the cacoona battle could be, as the fight goes on, the fighter's weight will increase, making them harder to launch, but at the start of the fight, their base weight will be quite low, meaning you have to end the fight quickly or you'll be sitting through a long fight (just like the time wasters themselves). They dont attack much, past maybe a jab input or jump either, just move around and get heavier and heavier.

I love imagining what the spirit battles would be like for characters who don't already have spirit battles, so I'm excited to see more of this series :D
Some ideas I have:
- A spirit battle for every Mystery Mushroom costume in Super Mario Maker that isn't already a playable fighter and doesn't already have a spirit battle
- A spirit battle for every spirit in the game that doesn't already have a battle (except for fighter spirits, bosses, and maybe enhanced spirits)
- A spirit battle for every Mario powerup that isn't already represented in some form in the list of spirits, whether by a spirit of the powerup itself (e.g. Super Star) or a spirit like Metal Mario, Fox Luigi, or Flying Squirrel Toad
- A spirit battle for every Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl fighter
- A spirit battle for every WB Multiversus fighter, once that game is out
- What if the trophies in previous Smash games were spirits instead and there were spirit battles for all of them (except fighters, bosses, and maybe the stage trophies in Melee, but including characters that became fighters later in the series such as Wario's Melee trophy)?
I thought of some more video ideas:
- A spirit battle for every idol in Kid Icarus: Uprising that isn't already a fighter or a spirit
- A spirit battle for everything in Pac-Man's Namco Roulette taunt that isn't already a spirit
- At least one new spirit from every series that has at least one game in the NES, SNES, N64, or Genesis Nintendo Switch Online apps but has no spirits in Smash Ultimate
For Alakazam it would be cool to have 2 invisible villagers to tag along and spam down smash (shovel) and its like alakazam attacks with psychic powers
Besides the bizarre bit about Pikachu (who would literally be perfect for a Jolteon spirit battle, wtf you going on about with ZSS), these were very well thought out.

I like the ideas of using the lips stick flower, but you could have gone a little extra and had the flower permanently attached to you and a healing sprout permanently attached to the Ivysaur to reference one of the more common moves they use in Leech Seed.
i think it would be pretty cool to also include the spirits properties, like their special ability or type. that might be a lot, but i think it would be neat.
I wonder how every undertale character, cuphead character & touhou characters be like if they were spirit battles be like.
Ok I really like this video and it got me thinking about my the gen 5 cast because that was my first Pokémon game. (I think serperior would be solid snake. They are green and they are snakes)

Execute is definitely seeds. They're grass type, it evolves into a tree, and seeds can be called tree eggs, the "yolk" is just part of a seed

12:24 a horde of blue Charizards spamming Fly can work too. It could be at Great Cave Offensive omega and it would be a stamina battle (with the horde having low health) and/or super armor (The Zubat line’s standard ability is Inner Focus, which prevents flinching)

Gonna have to correct your Zubat idea. Obviously it would be a bunch (at least 10, but as high as it can go) of tiny Meta Knights on Great Cave Offensive. Maybe even make it go dark periodically. Zubats are also pretty well known for the Leech Life move which siphons health, so if that's a feature in Smash, stick it on 'em. But they'd be super weak and likely wouldn't even attack much. Stamina mode too. And maybe add in a dash of reversed controls for Supersonic confusion

as an idea for the future, pokemon that are kinda tied together due to being pendants/comlementing each other like Alakazam and Machamp, or having sth from the pokedex thrown into it, like Hypno having a little female villager rep the maybe kidnapped girl, could be used more!^^ That would be so great!

I think something you should consider are type matchups. Not all battles need one, but maybe throw a few weak to fire move or something like that into some battles

I can't really think of any perfect fighter for the Paras line, but Daisy is orange, uses toad as part of her moveset, and can put you to sleep with her final smash, referencing the move Spore.

I had my own idea for Spearow's Spirit Battle. It would reference the scene at the beginning of Pokémon Sun & Moon where you first meet Nebby the Cosmog on a rope bridge and protect it from a group of wild Spearow. The Spirit Battle would be against three small Dark Pits and take place on the Swaying Bridge section of the Wuhu Island stage. You'll also be partnered with a small dark Kirby representing Nebby and will lose the match if he is KO'd.
