Lovely video. Silage making with a traditional trailed forage harvester on a beautiful day, can’t beat it! Those Reco Mengele choppers had to be the best machine of their type ever made. Plenty of farmers I’ve spoken too agree and regret selling theirs. 😮
Thanks David. Mengeles certainly were a grand machine, pity they stopped making them, anybody who has a tidy one should definitely hold onto it. Hope to get a video with an 18ft swath later, we have lifted it before but not on camera, shows the fierce appetite these machine have.
Have to agree that those Mengele harvesters are quite the beast. They have a huge flywheel effect, owing to the mass and inertia of the chopper at the back of the machine. The high tip speed is what gives them that long throw of crop into the farthest reaches of any trailer. Good old German engineering. Why and when did they stop making them ?

Reco mengele were a great harvester and so was the pottinger harvester
