Chorus:
Two years ago, a friend of mine
Asked me to say some MC rhymes
So I said this rhyme I'm about to say
The rhyme was Def a-then it went this way
Took a test to become an MC
And Orange Krush became amazed at me
So Larry put me inside his Cad-illac
The chauffeur drove off and we never came back
Dave cut the record down to the bone
And now they got me rockin on the microphone
And then we talkin autograph, and cheers and laugh
Champagne caviar, and bubble bath
But see ahh, ah that's the life, ah that I lead
And you sucker MC's is who I please
So take that and move back catch a heart attack
Because there's nothin in the world, that Run'll ever lack
I cold chill at a party in a b-boy stance
And rock on the mic and make the girls wanna dance
Fly like a Dove, that come from up above
I'm rockin on the mic and you can call me Run-Love
#SuckerMCs #RunDMC #OfficialVideo
Everything in this video is the TRUE essence of HIP HOP, the Breakin, the Graffiti, the Dj, the Gear, the Music this is what you call HIP HOP not the watered down Industry controlled stuff thats out nowadays, Thumbs up for the Real HIP HOP HEADS
Speak on it!!!
Run DMC's music should be taught in schools
Just 1 reminder of the genius of super producer Larry Smith...R.I.P.
THIS IS DEFINITELY HIP HOP 🤎
1st rap song I learned word for word. I almost broke my cassette rewinding constantly
Lol me too
This group NEVER got the "flowers" that they should have received. They are one of the best in the rap game. 🌟
If you found your way to this video I congratulate you. You've successfully fought through the bullshit and arrived at the center of the hip-hop universe. Welcome.
One of the most iconic opening lines in hip hop history period!
It's the foundation of hip hop.
WORD!!!!
YO YO MY BROTHER YOU AIN'T HEARING NOTHING FROM ME KID IF YOU MISSED DA LYRICS IN 83 WE I GOT TO TELL YOU SOME PEOPLE LOST PARTNER BIG UPPS BLESS UPPS FLAT BUSH STILL HERE
Bro damn near every track from the 80's had a phenomenal intro
It is THE iconic opening line that created the crayze. I was in Jr High when this came out--a kid from El Salvador was singing this in woodshop while working the disc sander. He could barely speak English, but the boy had all the lines down. That's when you know your shit is worldwide! Run DMC weren't the first (props to Sugar Hill, Kurtis Blow, and all the brothers working the NYC rap scene) but they broke through the ceiling and made this a global phenomena.
I grew up in the 80s and man it was one hell of a fun ride.
U got that right 👍👍
RunDMC,LL Cool J, Mantronix, the original 80s crew, the best and beats the rest.
Only true hip-hop fans find themselves here.
Now this is rapping. Run DMC is legends.
A hip hop classic that won't ever get old
It never NEVA get's old!!
DJKARMA real talk
How can this "never get old" when it's like over 30 years old now though tbh??
@@josephblanchard6248 Because music is eternal. In 100 years you will be so old and look completely different but this song will stay the same even after you die.
It's get old.
It doesn't get STALE.
Please send these guys to Australia.😊

Sucker MC Started Modern Hip Hop
When it was released in 1983 or when the video came out in 1999?
that beat is still SLAMMIN!!!!! after all these years. We used to be rockin this in the cafeteria back in the day.
DMC's verse is too sick yo
No useless sounds just pure HIP-HOP!

1979 - emerging genre of music//culture from the Bronx, NYC. 1989 - Worldwide and expanding throughout the universe. Today - WTF!?
I'm an oldschool break dancer. Everything I see in this video is real hip hop. They did it just for hip hop, not for fame.Respect Run DMC.
Everything but black people Dj'n Mc'n, break dancin,, graffiti'n. Image is Everything. If it's not a big deal than why change it
Big Daddy Kane? Plenty good ones out there too
This is our heritage, influencing cultures around the world!
Run had the sickest flow........
I remember when this song hit in NYC, they played it damn near every hour on 98.7 KISS.
I agree this is the hardest beat hip hop has
yup! My all time fav!!!
Seen Run DMC in Norfolk scope coliseum in Virginia man 1985 all the way live front raw man I had to play that one.😊
Funny how they chose not to use any American Black or U.S. Latino B-Boys but instead European ones showcasing how far Hip-Hop had reached and impacted other heads one would not normally think would embrace the culture, especially to such dope precision levels.
Love how all 4 Elements of emceein', deejayin', b-boyin', and graff writin' are repped too.
And of course, Golden Era Hip-Hop fashion of the 80s and 90s as well.
Dope
Man, you hut it right on the head. I thought it was just me when I saw this video
People always stay brainwashing ish
The beat is sick.
One of the best rap songs of all time. From the Godfathers of rap .

This song makes me so happy I want to cry. Best beat ever. Next best... Peter Piper.
Peter Piper moves the crowd like a tsunami brutha. I love hearing that shit at a club or before a concert. Real hip hope makes you feel some kinda way.
Yaas! Agree
Thats good to know. All the people who came before you must be very relieved.
I must have heard this 200 times and it's still as fresh as the day it came out, just so raw, absolutely timeless, was lucky enough to see them at the Brighton Centre England in 1987, great times
Per me è stato un onore aver partecipato a questo videoclip.Questa canzone la ballavo quando avevo 12 anni
iconic, timeless, and never forgotten....
Listen to the hunger in Runs voice...
14 years later..............R.I.P. Jam Master Jay
Genetically Superior there will never be another like JMJ!!

Apart from the Eskimos
0:10 "Two years ago, a friend of mind, told me Alize and Cristal blows ya mind" -Tupac
The roots of rap. It’s amazing how far we’ve come.
Percocet Music Now.
@@justynhunter9976 you’re just not looking in the right places. Rap has become so diverse just like other genres of music. There are a bunch of trap artists then there are people like baby keem, j-cole, kendrick, who resemble older rap artists.
I hope you don’t mean mumble rap 😂
This is why....this is why I love my country....a mi me encanta me pais...no other place is like this...
THIS SONG IS STRAIGHT UP GANGSTER!!!
#Legendary
Tamaku'Yahu Byn Yar'sharal for real though

GANGSTER?? WHERE??
@@eastsidekousky6212 I doubt he meant literally to do with gangsters. Just in case you were serious with your response.

Young people these days DON'T KNOW WHAT GOOD MUSIC IS...
One of the best rap song ever!!!
83 over 40years ago and still fresh
Its amazing the impact of black culture on the world.
Inner City culture
+171TITO Suburban culture. And "inner city" is an American concept. In Europe the "inner city" is the posh, affluent neighborhoods. It is usually just "the city."
+171TITO nah black culture mostly. latinos and others helped a lot for sure though
Its amzing to see the impact of white made technology on the world
@enmaxus
Been that way for thousands of years. Stuff like this, is just history repeating itself, again.
Greatest hip hop cut.
these are " legends " and this is a " classic " ! .....
A is for the apple I like to eat,
B is for the awesomeness of my beat...
"I'm DMC, in the place to be, I go to St. John's University/and since Kindergarten I acquired the knowledge, and after 12th grade I went straight to college!" (underneath JMJ's dope scratches)

SUCKER MC'S, I LOVE THIS OLD SCHOOL RAP. GIVE ME OLD SCHOOL ANYDAY.
dont panic, this was mainstream in the 80s
That must of been amazing
Original beat, rarely replicated if at all. Original lyrics, this track used in films {Boyz 'N' The Hood}, fuckin mental tune...modern hip hop needs to listen and learn.
