As a Mexican, me and my dad both stayed up until 1 am watching this game We nearly woke up the entire house when Álvarez scored. We were so ANGRY and frustrated at how every opportunity was wasted. Then they scored within the last 20 seconds we were ecstatic.
A lot of Honduras fans say this game was rigged, but their goalkeeper was wasting the whole game, and there was two substitutes in the nine minutes that’s why the referee added two minutes as a Mexico fan myself I think the goal from Edson Alvarez was a miracle.

Throughout the whole entire game the Honduras keeper dropped “injured” 5 times including his teammates I think the keeper himself wasted about 19 minutes himself and during extra time there was a an accidental hit between heads and added 2 more minutes makin it 11 added minutes keeper from Honduras proceeds to step over line twice fair game in my opinion
As a Honduran fan. I gotta say we had played mediocre. We had chances especially from el Palma but failed to failed to execute but also I understand how they were wasting time like crazy. We were annoyed with the goal keeper how he would wait at the last minute then drop to catch the ball. As much as it pains me Mexico won as they should. What Honduras lacked was pressure and sportsmanship. Yea that’s the goal keepers karma, bit us on the ass. At first i was saying 9 minutes is too much but then i went and rewatched the game and the ref shouldve added like 15 mins for all the time wasting Honduras did. They took their time on almost every chance they could, which, cant blame them but they were aware the ref was keeping track.

apparently fifa rules are that when it goes to a shootout yellow cards are reset, even Malagon after the GK got the yellow went and told the ref and you can see the ref respond that its not an expulsion.

Me as an American from Mexican parents. (I’m a fan of Mexico) but, this game was too exaggerated for me. Mexico had many chances to score over Honduras, missed chances, and if that wasn’t enough, getting 12 minutes extra time where they made the tied, in which they should’ve tied way before the extra time. Mexico won on penalties for luck and not for effort. In my opinion, I would say Honduras needed the win, because they played better and tried harder than Mexico. ❤️🇲🇽❤️🇭🇳
As a Honduran, I agree that Honduras deserved the win, but I can admit that we played poorly this game. This was not the same team that won 2-0 in Teguc, and to give up 34 shots is regular time is unacceptable. Luis Palma air-balled a tap-in, Elis was not the injection of speed he should have been at half-time, and Maldonado couldn’t send an on-target long-ball to save his life. However, our defense was better than normal. And to miss/have blocked 24 in box shots was also terrible from Mexico. Plus, the obviously undeserved 11 minutes aggregate time. My point is, that’s why Honduras deserved to win. Not because they played good, but because outside of possession, Mexico honestly played worse.

It was one of the most frustrating matches I’ve seen Mexico play. We got lucky Honduras didn’t score at least one goal
Me as an American from Mexican parents. (I’m a fan of Mexico) but, this game was too exaggerated for me. Mexico had many chances to score over Honduras, missed chances, and if that wasn’t enough, getting 12 minutes extra time where they made the tied, in which they should’ve tied way before the extra time. Mexico won on penalties for luck and not for effort. In my opinion, I would say Honduras needed the win, because they played better and tried harder than Mexico. ❤️🇲🇽❤️🇭🇳
As a Honduran, I agree that Honduras deserved the win, but I can admit that we played poorly this game. This was not the same team that won 2-0 in Teguc, and to give up 34 shots is regular time is unacceptable. Luis Palma air-balled a tap-in, Elis was not the injection of speed he should have been at half-time, and Maldonado couldn’t send an on-target long-ball to save his life. However, our defense was better than normal. And to miss/have blocked 24 in box shots was also terrible from Mexico. Plus, the obviously undeserved 11 minutes aggregate time. My point is, that’s why Honduras deserved to win. Not because they played good, but because outside of possession, Mexico honestly played worse.

The time wasting by Honduras in this game was crazy. From min 45 to 90 the goalkeeper spent almost 10mins in the ground. They added 9 mins of extra time and they wasted almost 7 mins. So they added 2 more
