You can use lumineth as high elves. Decent model equivalents for archers, spears, swordmasters, silverhelms, infantry (or magic carpet) wizards, infantry fighty hearoes, infantry battle standard bearer, bolt thrower. Great eagles from LotR also work fine and as stand alone monsters won't look out of place next to the lumineth. Ranking the lumineth up on squares might be a pain, though. And the price... us$60 for 10 archers or spears, oof.
More significantly, there are lots of units you might want to field that don't really have lumineth equivalents (scouts, phoenix guard, dragon riders, dragons, etc), and while they'll eventually be available as actual high elf models again, the difference in aesthetic and scale might put you off of mixing them together in the same army. So before trying to use lumineth as high elves I'd really recommend using proxies to try some lists with just the above units to see if you can get an army that works for you on the table out of that.

I had the lizardmen starter army from 5th edition, with a few vintage metal units. Just picked the Seraphon vanguard and it makes for a very decent force.

What do you think about the models compared to the old ones? I think they look pretty awesome!

@@tabletoptyrant9573 the new ones are fantastic! Especially the rank and file units, they're way above (I prefer the vintage stagadon though).
My only grief is that they made them so tall, they really clash with the old ones (the new saurus are more or less the size of the old kroxigor) and the new skinks are as tall as an elf (with its helmet). Love how the new kroxigor are towering everything though.

Warriors of chaos is probably the best option for using AoS models in tOW. They look great, they directly represent the right models & gear. The only issue is that getting them to rank up on squares is a bit of a pain. Again, I recommend assembling all the models without attaching them to the bases, then ranking up the bases in the formation you want to use (with any heroes in the front), marking the bottom of the bases so you can easily put them back in the same order, and then gluing the models to their bases one at a time being careful to make sure they rank up as you go.
for the knights in particular, start with the middle guy in the unit glued in the middle of his base, and then the models to the left and right can drift a little further left and right respectively to fit, counting on the extra space added by the unit tray to reduce the awkwardness from not being perfectly centered on their bases.

Lot of the units in AoS don’t always have a full command. Gotta do some serious conversion for them.

OBR look great, but they really don't look like tomb kings. Now that GW's selling actual tomb kings again I'd just wait for those to be back in stock rather than getting their spiritual-but-not-really AoS successors.

Re: vamp counts, both blood knights and vargheists are rare units, meaning you won't be able to fit them into a 500 point game unless you're willing to ignore the category limits, which is fair enough in minimal teaching games. As for the skeletons, imo you're better off going with hand weapons intstead of spears. Skeletons aren't really there to cause damage, an extra 5 attacks at Ws2, S3, no AP isn't really worth the added 20 points imo. The hand weapons are also a bit easier to rank up on the new models. As for ranking - Blood knights fit on 30x60s fine so long as you don't use the champion's mace (just give him a lance or sword, you can even still use the cape if you clip off the lance arm and trim it to fit around the shoulder of whatever arm you do use). The skeletons can rank up, but they're a bit fidgety - both the weapons and their swirly skirts can get in each others' way if you're not careful. I recommend ranking up all your bases in the formation you want to use (I go 5 wide with skellies, again imo they're there to bring static res, not damage output), label the bottom of the bases so you can put them back in the same order later, put whatever character you might want to attach in the front, then carefully glue assembled models in one at a time, starting with the unit command, making sure they rank up and fit around your hero as you go. I prefer the old 7th edition skeletons as they still have great detail and proportion compared to the old tomb kings skeletons, but they rank up super easy, you just have to be careful around your heroes. Unfortunately they're hard to come by these days, so its good to know you ~can~ fit the soulblight skellies if you're careful.
Expanding from the starting set, the current zombies should be no trouble to fit. I haven't tried the dire wolves yet, some of them might be a bit long for their bases. Grave guard are easy to rank, they're still old warhammer fantasy models that haven't been replaced. Black knights & Hexwraiths (if you can even find any, they've been out of stock for a while) are also old fantasy models, but they always had trouble ranking up on their old 25x50 cav bases. Now that they're on 30x60s though they should be fine.

Skaven should be fully good right out of the box...lol, Lizardmen are pretty close as well. Daughters of Kaine, daemons, vampires and ghouls should all be close enough for most people. If you are down for converting there are tons of things you can do with Lumineth and Sylvaneth to use them with OW.
