  • Hey look, I called it. This is Nintendo's biggest release for September 2021 though, so it was kind of a shoe-in, even if WarioWare isn't one of Nintendo's top franchises. Arika collaborated with Intelligent Systems prior in the Maximus Cups featuring skins based on Fire Emblem: Three Houses and Paper Mario: The Origami King, so it probably wouldn't have been that difficult to do.
    Wario plays on his handheld device he created in the center of the screen, which also makes up the playfield background as a modified version of it is superimposed around Wario that makes up the skin's HUD. The GTA-looking background features 19 of the 20 playable characters (including Wario). From left to right, the top row has 18-Volt, Mona, Spitz, Dribble, and Penny; the middle row has Orbulon, Master Mantis, Young Cricket, Jimmy T., Ashley, and Red; and the bottom row has Dr. Crygor, Mike, 5-Volt, 9-Volt, Lulu, Kat, and Ana. They all seem to be standing proud or in awe for whatever reason.
    Characters have small pixelated heads in the Wario Cup, a series of weekly challenges and represents their lives. Those are used for the Minos designs here. Wario is on the I-Block, Young Cricket is on the J-Block, Mona is on the L-Block, 9-Volt is on the O-Block, 18-Volt is on the S-Block, Kat is on the T-Block, and Ashley is on the Z-Block. Bugs, as are depicted in the game's story mode, are on the Garbage Blocks.
    KOed players are represented as a Wario Bomb explosion, as seen in each microgame when time runs out. They're in color if you knocked out that player and in grayscale if you didn't. Badges are represented as Coins, which are redeemed for Prezzies in the Break Room in Get It Together! Complete Badges are gold, and incomplete ones are fuchsia.
    There isn't any particular theme to any of the sound effects; they're all general use ones except for clearing a Tetris, which uses the clear jingle for some of the standard microgames. The music, meanwhile, is the title screen music for the beginning of a match. At 50 players left, it switches to the character select theme. At 10 players left, it switches to the theme of "Potty Pursuit." (Thank you to AnthonyM the Gamer Artist! for identifying the latter two.) I'm guessing these are found in the Variety Pack, which I haven't fully explored yet. It's odd because there are two stages in Get It Together! with music playing continuously, but one of them has vocals and I think they want to avoid anyone saying anything because royalties cost extra. When 50 or 10 players remain, you'll hear Wario's version of the Speed Up jingle. Placing anywhere other than 1st will get you the jingle when you lose your last life (Get It Together! has a different Game Over theme for each stage, but this is what they have in common), while placing 1st will play the theme when you clear a Boss Stage.
    There is, unfortunately, no poop button in this skin.
    I predict that the 25th Maximus Cup, for October 2021, will be themed on Metroid Dread; it's the biggest game of Nintendo coming out for that month, and we haven't had a Metroid-themed skin yet.
    Match #1
    Skin: Special Theme 17 (WarioWare: Get It Together!)
    Mode: Normal
    That Mandrake was a real survivor! They made it right until near the end with minimal Badges, but they kept soldiering on! I think this is also tied with the second fastest I've reached the 100 points at just two matches, but I felt the first one was something of a warmup as I hadn't played since the last Maximus Cup.
    Match #2
    Skin: Special Theme 17 (WarioWare: Get It Together!)
    Mode: Invictus
    So I move on to Invictus. Of course this happens. The two in the final two spots were experiencing a real tug of war! This was actually about 4 minutes of just the two of them, neither able to gain much ground on the other. I wish I could've seen bigger screens of their playfields. (Also, here's "Tomorrow Hill" from WarioWare: Smooth Moves, the last standard WarioWare game I featured on my channel.)
    Match #3
    Skin: Special Theme 17 (WarioWare: Get It Together!)
    Mode: Invictus
    I think I needed a warmup for Invictus too--as it seems, it's a matter of being able to keep up with the highest gravity, provided you're not savagely attacked when the gravity was still manageable. The capacity to continue to attack even under the highest gravity is the key to lasting when the background dissolves into that fiery ember background. Also, notice the unusually low Badge count going into the top 10. I think this is the first time I've ever seen no one reach 4 Badges through the entirety of a match. I don't know how that could even happen.

    The 50 theme is the Character Select theme, while the 10 is the Boss Stage in Wario’s level.

      @ From what I can tell, performing well gets you targeted by more people towards the beginning of the next matches. If they have their targeting set to Random, it will more likely prioritize someone who's been doing well recently.

    You should have learned t-spins they are very good! I saw a lot of opportunities on where you can do them.

    • @Overhazard
      @Overhazard  Před 2 lety +3

      I know how to do T-Spins, but I prefer to do combos. They're faster and send more garbage blocks over time. I only use T-Spins if I can work them into a combo. I never do them for the sake of doing them.

    • @Overhazard
      @Overhazard  Před 2 lety +1

      I also play Puyo Puyo Tetris 2. That game's competition is so fierce. It's like training with weights. My win ratio there is like 30%.
      (If you aim to improve your Tetris 99 game, the best thing to do is remain on the offensive. Use KOs or Attackers for your targeting and practice on your 3- or 4-wide combos. Some people will recommend T-Spins, but I find them impractical and slow compared to combos.)

      @@Overhazard Any other general tips? I'm pretty much a beginner when it comes to Tetris so my puzzle solving skills suck lol

    • @Overhazard
      @Overhazard  Před 2 lety

      @@DoctorMario606 A lot of it comes from practice and pattern recognition. The way you get good in Tetris is the same as any other video game: play a lot, and play often, and you'll improve bit by bit.
      One way to practice with combos is to set aside 2 columns on the far left or far right of your playfield. Practice arranging the blocks so you have as few gaps as possible. Once you feel you're ready, try to place as many blocks in a row as you can into that gap to clear lines, one after another. If you feel you're good enough, move on to 3 columns. Then 4. If you feel confident, put the gap in the middle instead--it's harder to arrange, but you have less risk of losing.
      If you have a way to play single-player Tetris, use that to practice without worry of other players throwing Garbage Blocks at you. You can play at your own pace there.

    oh of course when you play nearly nobody goes for you at the start
    but when i play literally everyone targets me

    • @Overhazard
      @Overhazard  Před 2 lety

      Oh, it does happen to me sometimes. I actually prefer it when I'm targeted by a lot of people because it causes a higher garbage output, allowing me to take more people out and get more badges. Most of my 1st-place finishes involve getting ganged up upon. These were just odd in that they didn't happen or happened later.
