One of my favourite dance tunes from the sixties. I remember dancing to it in the school hall in 1962 - the year of the big freeze in the UK. Or was it 1963? Long time ago!
+Ann TwoShoes I agree ,and the year of the big freeze was 1962 , as i was going out with my girl friend and we would sit for hours on my m/bike in the snow !
+Ann TwoShoes Yeah, the Big Freeze of the 1962-63 winter. Great times, back then, with such fabulous records in the charts, and lots more to come as the Sixties progressed.
Ann TwoShoes - As far as I can tell, this song was first released in the U.S.A. in June, 1962. The Big Freeze started in the U.K. around Christmas, 1962.
There's no way this show isn't from California. The clothes, the hair.....Southern California, hands down. I lived there in the '60's and miss the dancing like this.
The dance performance is from a TV show, Hollywood a go-go, hosted by Sam Riddle. Here you can see him directing dancers to take centre stage. Also the house Gazzarri Dancers appear here. This song is dubbed over the original sound track but I am not sure what song that had been.

As an 17 year old student at College at Walthamstow London, I had tickets to see Chris Montez , Tommy Roe and the Beatles on 9 March 1963 at the Granada East Ham. My girlfriend and I attended a great concert which stayed in my heart being a great fan of all three, ln December1988 flying on Concorde from London to Barbados my Norwegian wife and l sat by Ringo Starr and Barbara Bach, who, like ourselves were going to Mustique. We were to stay with our friend Basil Charles the owner of Basils Bar Mustique as on 7 January 1989 we had exclusively booked a celebration of my wife's 40th birthday party attended Ringo, Barbara and Rolling Stones' Mick Jagger and Jerry Hall. Mick and l shared an architect who designed both our villas
Chris Montez toured the UK in 1962 on the strength of this cracking song. In Gloucester, about 120 miles west of London, he had this totally unknown support band called The Beatles. Chris had never heard of them. Nor had the local newspaper reporter, whose main interest was in Chris Montez, the hot new American star. Out of professional concern for accuracy the reporter got this unknown Brit group to write their names in his notebook, thus getting perhaps the first set of Beatles autographs. A few weeks later he threw the notebook away....
This is masterful! The talent it took to put this all together boggles the old mind. Great music. I have played it a dozen times, as I lived through those eras and recall the movies. We will never see the likes of them again.
The boogie moves and energy are contagious! Not being of this generation Mr. Montez is heard of in many generational performers. This banger among many of his others are simply magnificent🎉 Bravo

@@irenecarhart I am from a Scots/Irish family,my grandfather moved here as he was on the run,he was to be executed by firing squad,my grandfather was fighting the British after they burnt the family farm down looking for weapons (that were not there) sadly this activity by British forces made young lads in Ireland join the IRA in the late part of the 20th century. My grandfather told me he had to fight back in some way at the family having the farm burnt down,I can't argue with that...I felt really sad when you said you had no family...tell you what Irene, after a recent car accident I prob will be joining you up in the great dancehall in the sky my family is your family and I hope youl have that dance with me..ps the place in Scotland where I was brought up is a little town called Falkirk....best wishes Sean
@@stilllaughing3959 Thank you! You're very sweet. If you don't mind me asking what happened? Are you okay?
Now this is what I call dancing. Even though I'm not from that era but believe me when I say this was the best music.

One of the greatest twist records ever made. Fantastic beat! This record was played again and again at parties in 1962/3.
Best song ever! That beat and most of all Chris Montez's voice.🎸🎶💃🏽💞
Me & my brother used to play my mums Chris Montez LP on 75bpm. It made us laugh so much. This song will always remind me of them both. 20yrs this July my mum passed and 10yrs have come & gone since my brother passed. This song still makes me smile as it brings back great memories as a young kid.
I wish there was a club where we could dance like this all night.
Wow! Going to the dance growing up and seeing these older ( seniors) girls with their perfect Breck Girl hair and sweater dresses just mesmerizing! God it was fun!
A TRULY GREAT ERA
I remember this song from the early '60's. Still enjoy listening to it today.
Let's dance Trisha 💃
I'll dance with you to Trisha Ann .I am a old age pensioner but can still hold the girl and manage a few steps 🎼♥️
I would love to dance with you
I wish I could have lived in those times , everything was so classy and fun
It indeed was. But if you lived in those days, you'd be an old man, like I am today . ( 68) But it was great.
@@skipdow3 nothing wrong with being more expirienced and mature! Nice to see more mature people on the internet
Les années 60 étaient merveilleuses et les chansons formidables !

GROWING UP IN THIS TIME GOD IT WAS GREAT THIS KIDS NOW DAYS HAVE NO IDEA WHAT GOOD MUSIC AND GOOD TIMES ARE
It's still as fresh today as was play in 1962. 😊
I play bluegrass and was playing at an American Legion..My mom got up and was gliding across the floor with her 1950s style moves like these ladies and I had to tell some of the old men my mama was married lol..When I hear this old rock and roll music I think of her cause she listened to it all the time and danced lol
In the 60s with the 7" Let's dance vinyl in hand I went to all the house parties. Great Chris! How much fun we had!
God, doesn't this bring back the memories. I've watched and listened to this video Many time and remember when I was out on the floor. Love it.
He is one of the very few artist that can brag that once, he was bigger than the BEATLES! They were once his opening act!
I always loved this song.
What a GREAT tune!! You CANNOT sit still hearing this!!
+Ann TwoShoes major hit on campus of Penn State in '63-64; college Mixers were fantastic.

Sounds fun Bonnie 😄
The dance performance is from a TV show, Hollywood a go-go, hosted by Sam Riddle. Here you can see him directing dancers to take centre stage. Also the house Gazzarri Dancers appear here. This song is dubbed over the original sound track but I am not sure what song that had been.
Oldie but goldie I’m 22 years old lovin this funk
I’m 50 yrs old my grand pa use to play this and a bunch others now I play em with my 8 yr old daughter and we dance like this 🤣😂🤣
Miss you granddad- served 1941-1965
Army 4th infantry division
I love the big smiles on everyone's faces. :-) Happy happy.
Yes these were Happy Happy times
There will in my opinion never be a time like the 60s for music the kids today dont know what they are missing.
I grew up listening 60's music. It was the best!! ❤❤❤
how cool to have your contribution to pop culture to be an appearance on one of these shows as a teenager ..... you can go online and show your grand kids how you were on the cutting edge of cool back in the day!
Ready steady go Friday night Eileen
Just clean and pure, i lived through it, and loved it.
American Bandstand- Spotted the monkey, fruge, watusi, several others. Each couple danced their favorite.
Beautiful people, 60's style.
I love the way they all get to take a turn on the dance floor whilst every body else stands back and watches
When we all danced. It was great times.
The dancers are great.
Chris Montez Band is my favourite and the way they sings the songs.
Those great days of the 1960's that changed music forever!
Mad Greek
Clasic song from the 60s.this young man had a few hits.60s were great with music.
This was a great dance song, the beat is phenomenal.
I wish I was born earlier and could have experienced this time.❤
I love this video! Great dancing and fun to watch! Epitomizes the swinging 60s dance era!
I love this music my grandad always played 50s and 60s music when i was growing up and i am to be married this year september 2019 :) and i am thinking of having this brillant song, that i love so much as me and my partners first dance plus i think that would put a smile on my grandad and nans face get everyone up and dancing

Hello,how are you?
This brings back so many memories. I actually went to bandstand when they were here in California and got to know so many great people. I enjoy watching these because I am in my seventies
We went to the oringal in Philly. Cut school to go. Thankfully didn't get caught. Best day of my life!! I was on TV
Apaixonada nessa música! Alegria contagiante! 2023 🇧🇷
Brings back fantastic memories...
yeah, of my teenage angst!
Great song lets dance
The 1960's had the best dance moves by far. No other decade comes close. None.
I'd say 70s disco is a pretty close contender
Ummm... Michael Jackson?
Some dancers in the 1920s, 1930s, and 1940s did some pretty crazy stuff too. For example, take a look at some swing dancers of the age.
The 50`s would give you a run for your money.
view Bill Haley and the comets. RIP IT UP 1956
Oh wow!! What I’d give to go back in time. 👏👏👏👏👏👏
I would rather be in my 20's in the '70's than my 70's in the '20's.
Good analogy
🙈👍😂
This video looks more mid 60s than 70s.
Way cool 😁
well said. and i would much rather have been 16 in anytime in the 20th century than 16 in the 21st.
Hard to top this DANCE tune! Go Chris! When women WERE women!
