OMG!! What a Differance!! I just ran My EV EKX 18 Mono WoW!!! Thank You Brother Very Much!! Im Glad You Remembered to say this!! This is Great!!
I always appreciate people who respect our time as viewers by offering informative and precise information without wasting our time with unnecessary remarks. Thank you.
Of course! Thank you!
Great demonstration. I've been doing this for a few years now, and I love the way how you can separate the tops from your subs. It makes the sound of your set up so much better. Keep up the good work.
Thanks brother!
Thank you
Thank you very much. I’m a beginner dj and really liked the way you explained everything thanks
Very well done and excellent content. I hadn’t even thought of this and it just makes sense.
Thanks dude!
Great explanation! It's been so hard to find a clear explanation of the subwoofer out / mono and which to use. I get it now. Thank you :)
Great points, short and sweet. Great video. Thanks man
LOVE THIS VIDEO. I HAVE LEARNED A LOT TODAY. THANKS MAN
Great info! Glad I stumbled across this video. Prepping for 2 events next month. Right on time. Definitely will put this golden gem of how- to ...to good use! 😊😊👍🏾🎶🎶 Thank you!
Of course!
Awesome Video, what's the name of that cord
@@shaunsmith6150 Which one?
Sounds so obvious but I’ve always ran my controller through sub then out to speakers, great video thankyou
Great Information!! Thanks for creating and sharing the video!!
I never knew this, great video my friend!
Very informative. Answered my questions all the way.
Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us.
Thanks for the info. this was awesome...
Very helpful and educative video I really appreciate you for your time to make such a great video. Thank you Sir
Thanks for the tips. I hope i can connect everything right without causing a disaster. 👍🏼✌🏼
You got this! I believe in you!
Great video thx much!! One question tho I don't have Aux out on my mixer instead I have Phone, would it work?
Thank You. Well explained
Great info. Thank you!
Makes sense…relearning adding in a mixer to my gear…using a 10 channel for weddings and about to change up how I use everything to optimize sound and performance
Ir was really helpful. Thanks mate
Actually we have thesame connections sir, thanks for sharing to others👍❤️❤️
Great break down. I just recently got a pre amp Behringer mixer. The pa speakers do good on my DJ controller which is a numark ns7 but It seemed that my bass cabinets wasn’t getting a strong signal. I would hook up the pa speakers to master and the bass cabinet to booth. But on either one the I had to turn up the volume all the way for the bass cabinet and it did decent but wasn’t full potential that it could be. So that’s why I got a pre amp mixer. Also the mono advice was great I never thought of that but makes sense. But good video very helpful advice
Thank you Awesome Video

Wow that’s awesome I had some issues this weekend with my sound idk if it was my DJ controller software or speakers but I was pushing them load and I think they got hot and it like shut of for a second a came back on the power didn’t turn off tho I think I need a board like yours
You def need an external mixer - plus it will sound so much better.
THANK YOU FOR THIS
With a huge thank for your presentation
great tip ...i'm going do it thanks!
Awesome video! Thanks for breaking it down and thanks to your bro! This is exactly what I was trying to figure out.
I've been around music for over 60 years, you should me a better way to run a sub! Thank you. well done.
Glad I could help!
Thank you a lot for this video
Great information on how to use the mixer for your subs. In my case I use the DBX Rack PA and it will seperate subs from tops with xlr outputs.
I have heard great things about the DBX drive rack. Might possibly upgrade to that in a few years.
Very helpful video, thank you. My question is how can we can do this if we have one subwoofer and two speakers.
Works great when you're the only person using the setup. If you're working with musicians who need monitor mixes, you might not be able to do this unless you have enough aux outputs for the monitors and an extra one for the sub.
yeah!!!!! ZEd10! thanks for sharing this
Appreciate the video alot
Thanks very helpfull Iran Rodriguez from Puerto Rico
Thanks for this info , my question is on how you have set up the sub and speaker own EQ?
Absolute Legand
Thanks for your help saludos from Mexico city question is hoy to connect 2 mixers ?
Thanks for the pro tip
Great demostration, i only have a sub and one top, how to set up for seperate volume control on a rane seventy mixer.
Hello,
beautiful video... I would like to ask you and ask if it is possible to connect subwoofers to the mixing desk also in the control room? Thank you Lada
Great job on this! I’ve been trying to figure out how to do this to my DJ set but couldn’t put it to words. Glad I came across your video, I understood clearly how it works with your channel mixer in this video.
Do you know if this works the same for Yamaha 10channel mixer? I currently have the 6 channel mixer but I’m looking into upgrading to 10channel mixer & I would like to control my subwoofers separately as you did in this video.
I’m glad this video helped! I own the Yamaha MG06fx and it does not have a separate “out” designated because they wanted to keep it smaller and compact. The Yamaha 10 channel mixer has an option to use your “FX Send” as a separate “Out” for your subs. But if you were to use any effects such as reverb or anything, I don’t think it would work that well. On the Yamaha 10 channel, you also have the option to run an “Out” on your monitor out line located at the top right as well.
I originally looked into getting the Yamaha 10 but I decided to get the Allen & Heath because of the extra “Outputs” that it had.
@@DJ-BRY the monitor out on mine is in stereo only, but 7/8 8/9 channels is unbalanced out in mono....would that work?
The Yamaha MG12X(U) will work for this - the extra cost from the MG10 is well worth it@@Steven-zg5bq
Thank you so much! This was extremely helpful
Really appreciate you
Good guide, im running 2 passive speakers or tops but i want to add a powered Subwoofer and 2 stage mornitors to the system, how do i connect them especially if the monitors are slso passive
Thank you for this! Really good information.
Watched this, on how to set up and control sub independently what do you set the controls at the back of sub Robert
first coment good video you are right about that I will put it into practice thank you very much
No problem! Glad I could help!
Not sure if this has already been said, but with the EV speakers you can control the volumes separately using their Bluetooth app. I’ve used this and it works well.
Just got my Alan and Heath FX 10..And set up my system just as you said...brilliant, more control..over the base and midrange/ tops..big thanks to you..👌.
I’m glad you like it! It’s definitely a great mixer!
Good job, you can still buy splitters to split the L and R subs if you want, from aux out.
I subscribed after seeing this video because it was informative and easy to understand. Thank you!
My question,is the 1/4 inch cable that you’re using out of your Aux out have to be a “stereo” 1/4 to XLR ? Or can a “mono” version work also?
I think it can be either or. Some audio professionals may say otherwise, but I haven't heard a difference personally. I am not an audio professional though.
I have a Mackie ProFX12v3 12-Channel. Where would the 1/4 inch go and how would I control the vol of the subs differently from the main? Thanks - Great Video
Use the headphone 1/4" to the sub mono input (usually LEFT) and control its output volume using the headphone volume knob.
I learned a lot now what if you are hooking up 2 subs and 2 tops the tops I'm good the sub u showed comes out quarter in aux what about the other sub cause the quarter in beside the aux on the board it says foot switch
Good Stuff..........
Great demo!
Thanks for the vid. How can I achieve this concept with a Drive rack Pa2 . What's the configuration?
great video!! when you run mono to the sub will the top speaker be in mono? and how can you run 2 subs in mono and have both your top speakers in stereo?
Since the sub is on its own aux channel, it is in mono. My tops are in stereo.
my question is does it matter if you use a stereo cable? or a mono 1/4 inch cable in the aux?
Yoooo!!!!! This is what I was looking for!!! I had a wedding last night (on a Monday) and I was peaking my new Mackie Thump 215xt’s and 15” Mackie subwoofer and I was wondering how to get a better fuller sound without raising the volume and having the mains screaming….thank you so much for this video, I just subscribed to your channel and really appreciate your knowledge and your older brothers knowledge on this. Thank you!
No problem! Glad I could help!
@@DJ-BRY I just shared this info with one of my DJ buddies down in West Palm Beach, Florida and he’s amazed by it and he never thought it would work and he tried it, now he loves it!
@@DJBennyswift great! Thanks for sharing!
I just shared this video with another DJ friend, I honestly used this way to set up at my last two gigs and the sound was sooooo much better and fuller, thanks once again!!!
Thank you 😊
Quick question…on a Behringer Xenyx 802 mixer, where would I connect the cable? From the sub to which input? Would Control Room also work?
Hi I have been doing for about 10 years and always ran my cable to input on subs then link to my tops, but I agree the way you just described will be better. My mixer Yamaha MG12XU. Could you please explain how to route my cables. I have never used aux sends. Thanks for the tip. My name is Mark
Thank you so much that was a good good tip to learn didn't know that I'm going to try that with my equipment I think you're right I think your brother is awesome guy what do we doing without people like you and him have a great day🤠👍👌
Good day i would love for u to do a full set up of both sub everything
Well Done and well explained. Thank you.
Great video. I have a Yamaha 6 channel mixer which doesn't have an aux out. Can I use the available channel 5 out (which is mono) since I don't use it to separate the sub?
Channel 5 is an input not an output. You can't run a sub in mono with that mixer. I have one as well.
great video. I'm going to connect my speakers this way. is there a specific setting you do on the back of the speaker. Do you choose the particular sub that you are using on the tops. How about the subwoofer. Do you choose the top model or subwoofer model or 80hrz Thanks
Since I have matching subwoofer and top combo, I select the matching label in the DSP. If you don’t have matching brands, you can set the crossover to either 80 or 100 the accomplish this.
Awesome video but where do you plug in the cable on your mixer to your other subwoofer?
my question to. cant you run your subs in stereo
excellent advice I was in the market for a sub I went to guitar center to find the sound I was looking for I do a lot of Spanish Mexican music I had to find that low that would in hance it I did jbl618s it really thumbs I'm going to set the way you described to see if it sounds different you got me curious
I wish I would have seen this a week ago lol...Good shit man....My Bottoms (ETX 15sp was on red on some songs and top where fine.LOOK AND LEARN MY BROTHERS.
I’m using only LP records and players via mixer to power Amp then speaker.
Haven’t added any sub woofer yet as I’m confused about the Base performance form sub will I achieve or not
I’m sure from CD signal I can get good bass from sub
I don’t play CDs anymore
Please suggest a normal mono sub woofer for my set up considering that I’m using only records and turntables
I use Behringer DDM 4000 mixer
It’s only for my home use not for DJ.
would like to know when you play with the eq does it respond on the base
Hi
the XLR to 1/4 have to be balanced or unbalanced and if it is unbalance will work
Great info. Where is your DJ controller
I noticed your using powered subs and tops is this possible to do with 2 passive subs and 2 tops with a separate amplifier thanks keep up the vids
everything is possible
Very useful information, thanks a lot
Nice job explaining
For the Aux out to the sub…If you were to use 2 subs, do you connect an XLR from that sub1 to sub2 in order to get both subs controlled by that one knob? Or is there another configuration?
You are correct. Run a cable from the mixer to sub 1 and then run a cable from sub 1 to sub 2.
Great question! Thx!
Will this work with monitor output as well?
Very helpful . Thanks mate.
Hey where do you set your cross frequency at and where do you keep your level at -10 or +4 on your subs?
I have 2 ELX200 15P's and 1 ELX200 18SP. Your sound advice here seems solid. I am not sure about the DSP on your speakers, but do you still set crossover points on the sub and tops in this configuration? Also with the separate volume for the sub, do you just monitor the clip led or do you place a mark on the sub volume to know max output if you can't monitor the clip led of the sub?
I do use the built in DSP on my speakers to set the crossover point. Luckily, my EV’s have a setting where I can say that I am pairing my specific EKX 15sp subwoofer with my top cabinet so that the crossover is perfect. I only use the mixer to control the volumes separately.
I do monitor the clip on my subwoofers from time to time. Having used these subs for a good while now, I can usually tell by the loudness and punch of the bass if I am coming close to clipping. If I am clipping, I just turn down the volume on my mixer through my Aux Out and I’m good to go.
Am I right to think that the dsp setting on your tops isn’t working in sync with the bin as they both ain’t getting the same direct signal output normally when tops are connected to the sub via the crossover running off the main out put together the high end is split high to tops and low to bin but I don’t see how this works with your set up on seperate aux output 🙈
@@stephengrogan good point
Great video and tips. Was that a powered subwoofer you used? Would you recommend the mixer combined with a DJ controller?
Yes. My subwoofer is powered. All of my speakers are powered. I personally recommend using an external mixer with a controller so you can have more inputs and more headroom for sound and EQing.
Hi
the XLR to 1/4 have to be balanced or unbalanced and if it is unbalance will work ?
Nice video. What kind of wire did you use to run the laptop into the mixer?
For this video, I used a XLR to 3.5mm cable. I usually run a 3.5mm to RCA that goes into my DDJ 1000 SRT. Then the DDJ 1000 SRT is fed into the mixer.
Different options for different applications.
Gracias.
When using the aux for your subs, do you daisy chain both subs if you're running two? Great vid!
Yes! You’re correct.
I got. A question .. I have 2 15 mid and one 15in sub . There are both passive. What do I need, I have a band and we need like 8 channels to play. What do I need?
Thank you for explaining everything. I have a question. When you are connecting your computer or an iPad to the external mixer, do you need to use left and right channels on the mixer or just one channel? Would that be the left input channel on external mixer? Thank you
Depends on your external mixer. You can use either an XLR to 1/8 inch cable into 1 channel or you can use a dual 1/4 to 1/8 into 2 channels. It all depends on how many channels you will be using.
@@DJ-BRY thank you. So i can use single channel to connect the ipad or do i have to use both left snd right?
I been dj clubs bars in ftw for 3 years now I need a mixer ima grab one thanks
Great video.. just was wondering what cable u are using into laptop.. I see you're using a XLR cable to the mixer... but what's on the other end connected to your laptop? XLR to 3.5mm... also I noticed you just running straight from mixer to lab top ....how do you run 2 speakers and a sub using a controller and mixer? And having just control of your sub on mixer? Sorry hope that makes sense .it might seem a little confusing...
This is not my normal setup. I made another video on “How to Connect a DJ Controller to a Mixer”. Check out that video to see how I do my setup.
Thank's man i wasn't really sure how to use the aux send for the sub woofer independently. But if i understand this correctly it is only the volume of the sub you have control over right ? I mean the signal sent to the sub is still ''imprinted'' with all the highs and mids settings right ? Which begs the question of how i can use the low cut button on the mix to reduce boomy (overwhelming) very low end sound. ? At any rate thank's for the video dude, have a great day.
Correct. Your subwoofer should have a crossover to make sure it only plays the lower frequencies. I don’t know if a way to fine tune the mono signal to EQ just the subwoofer. That is when you will probably need the concert style 24 + channel mixers with all the technology in it.
The cable for the sub!Should it be balanced or unbalanced?
Hey I appreciate the video. Now I’ve noticed that you are you are using a mixer with one channel master. Does it makes a difference if you’re using a two channel master and you have you top cabinets on the left channel master and the subs on the right channel master?
Yes it will make a difference. Your mixer will think you are running a stereo setup when you are wanting a mono setup. I don’t recommend tops on L and subs on R. It won’t work correctly.
Can u tap on drivers and computers and how they communicate with your over all sound.
I have a yamaha mg10ux mixer and it doesnt have aux send, connecting 2 alto ts15s and 2 ev zlx 12p, can i use the monitor output or fx send or headphone out?
Thanks
So a related question from what i see on the video. What brand and where did you bought it: Your foldable cart that is visible whe you see the top speaker
I believe the brand is Cosco
