We have had our savings dwindle with the cost of living into the stratosphere, and we are finding it impossible to replace them. We can get by, but can't seem to get ahead. I am surprised to see the UK on this list. As a native to the country, the amount of red tape, very high business rates and the declining disposable income has forced many businesses to close down (particularly start ups) and the government keeps establishing monopolies by essentially only giving contracts to those who have people in their own ranks involved in, that's even with companies who are simply not good investments.
One recent example being the collapse of retail giant Intu, how the local council in my home city of Nottingham (home of Robinhood for those who are interested) missed a massive debt of £4.5 billion is a mystery to me. And even Carillion a few years ago. There were plenty of sound businesses that could do a better job and were more financially stable, but government kept awarding contracts to them despite the company being recklessly managed. Yes not every contract works out for businesses but they just simply took on more risks than they could afford to take.
Plus, the amount you keep is such a rubbish deal, I think for a 50% gross margin business, you can only keep about 12% where in Singapore it's about 40% so I'm definitely not surprised that Singapore is number 1.

    • @solardanilew

You can register a company in the UK in a day, everything is done online and is very straightforward. Try setting up businesses in other countries and you will see what the real red tape looks like. How about 6 months to properly register plus countless bribes?

I would like to disagree with your top pick because I live in Singapore and I believe that the country is not really open to disruptive startups (assuming that is the context)
    A. The market is multi-racial and relatively fixated (not open to new ideas)
    B. The government has a significant influence over the nation and many people are unaware. Most of the money making companies are owned and highly regulated by the government: Transport/Energy/Airlines
    C. The market is not really open for disruption because those not in the working sector are operating old fashioned business and the communities are really unaware of modern business trends.
There is a lot of potential but I honestly am not going to support Singapore being the best for business.

It's cheap, the government provides for a lot of subsidies especially if the business is in the field of technology, both skilled and unskilled workforce is available and work for low salaries (according to India's living standards, it's great) and finally, it's consumers (speaking strictly from tech. perspective) provide for a really good market place.

Absolute nonsense crap. The best countries to start ur own business are under-developed countries like cause there’s still plenty of space in many business branches and the competition is not super strong. The listed countries are gonna lead you to total bankruptcy within months.

  • @ExploreLearnEnglishWithGeorge

I am in the UK, starting a business or becoming self employed is fairly simple - the issue is how to make business (how to maintain a positive cash flow). Anybody can start a business,,,,8/10 go bankrupt!

All these countries incapable for doing business for young low investment business man . As a business man. You have to choose more opprtunity so developing countries offer you more . Thsts gives wings to confident and sustainable development both ways. Like wise. Africa is best part to start new business they offer you best resources, cheap labour, higher tax benefits, Good environments place lot.. is like give more get more policy.

thank you for the video. The bonus point is a 50/50. The country you live in is not always the best country especially if there is no opportunity for garnering investment, if there is so much red-tape that foreign investors end up leaving after trying by all means to persevere, if it has the highest rate of inflation in the world, if it has one of the highest corruption, human rights violations, political targeting, no currency of its own, broken down justice system with no rule of law.
