Why the heck is there still nothing on Kara-tur or zakhara …we have been on the darn sowerd coast for years and we have nothing on the other two important places
In general, I doubt we'll see Kara-Tur or any other "Unapproachable East" countries in their own books.
Back in 3e and 3.5 the default setting was Greyhawk, but aside from one gazzeteer book and a bunch of articles in Dragon magazine there was no significant Greyhawk content in any of the core books, splat books, or supporting rule books. They didn't even include half the Greyhawk gods in the list of 3e gods. There was exponentially more forgotten realms setting material published than any Greyhawk setting stuff. Even Eberron had 3 to 5 books detailing its world.
In 5e we have the Sword Coast Adventures Guide... and that's it. Every other book set in Faerun is an adventure or an anthology that also includes Greyhawk and other settings in their roster of content.
Worlds like Greyhawk and forgotten realms main strength is how generic they are. Bland and unassuming. With the core book reprint in 2 years, I doubt we'll see Kara-Tur. Hell, I'm not even sure we'll see the forgotten realms after the reprints cone out. They could just up and move the default setting to Dominaria.
I'd love to hear your thoughts on the recently released 5E Adventures in Rokugan.
Seconded.
@@LiquidFranz Interested also.
Where is rookugan and what adventures are there because I literally have ever single 5e book
Before I even got into DnD my dad randomly torrented a bunch of maps of Kara Tur and put them in a folder on the computer, he never played the game either.
It’s just so obvious which country is supposed to be which, almost like it’s the Conan universe.
It's a great setting and i think I'd be more interested in an updated version of that written by an asian team instead of simply just introducing new mechanics.
What about Manteca & Al Qadeim? (never mind the total absence of any African setting except Datk Sun, *j/k*)
It's 2023 and still no Kara-Tur.
Y'all should track down and read Jadeclaw. It's... definitely a thing.
Speaking of which I was wondering if TSR were anti furry back then.
Like I mean we only got playable Kenku 2 editions after Kara-Tur along with Hengeyokai being treated as mystical and mechanics that discourage them not to be in their animal forms. know there were many reasons, but part of me wonder if TSR was afraid that Japanese mythological (or Chinese, because these are two general defaults on fantasy Asia) sampling would scare off players from being too Anthro and accused of trying to be Usagi Yojimbo.
SEARCHED FOR KARA TUR... got a page with pronoun kids. immediate thumbs down.
Mental illness is real. Get help. Jus stop…
