For some reason I didn't consider taking advantage of i-frames like Kilvereis does in Helm lobby to be allowed, but that's bloody brilliant he was able to get that last banana he needed out of that kasplat.
It is allowed for getting to the kasplat. It is banned for skipping vines to reach the B. Locker

Yes but there are 5 pearls and you only need 1, so for that specific pearl to be WOTH every other pearl would need to be locked behind the mermaid item, otherwise it wouldn't be hinted. A seed that catastrophic has to be pretty rare
This qualifier was lulling everyone into a false sense of security
So if I understand correctly, you didn't actually have to obtain DK at all. If a Kong is required for K. Rool, the game will just give you that Kong at the start of the phase, and this is apparently the case in vanilla as well as the speedrun skips acquiring a bunch of Kongs and they're still there at the end.
Though maybe _because_ it's a vanilla behavior and not something added in the randomizer, it doesn't work for DK since there's no way you'd ever not have DK in vanilla?
this is now patched, you must have the kong to use them in the K Rool fight
