Love this! No BS. Just straight to the point! I'll be using your tips for my PoV GoPro videos with my H5!
Glad you benefited! What you shooting?

My XLR adapters just came in today, so I was able to put everything together, and then of course it didn't work with the stock settings, then I remembered that I had seen this video a few days ago and it came back here and followed your steps, and got everything working perfectly! Thank you!
Man, you save my day. I was so scary that my H6 was not working. Thanks a lot!
Surprisingly there isn't a lot of info about connectivity like this online. Great video.
Just received my Purple Panda Lav Mike from Amazon. Attempted to use it plugged in to the jack on the X-Y module, but it didn’t work. Went into the Plugin Power setting, turned it on as you show, and now it works like a charm. Thanks for the help!
Thank you so much! I bought 2 mics and they were not working on the 1,2,3,4 slots. I went to the zoom 6 video and they didn't mention anything about the phantom button. I hit it and now they both work just fine. Great job!
You're welcome!!
This was very helpful, thank you! 👍
This is the best video ever. Thanks for your explenation. We were desperate because we could not find any hint to how to get the microphones working. Here we could find the answer at minute 5: give them power by scrolling through the menu! Thanks a lot.
You helped me so much. I was looking everywhere for a solution to use my lapel with my h6 in an online interview. This should work flawlessly..... 👍👍
Yes, Yes and yes.
Great video, super informative and every question regarding connecting a 3.5mm mic to the H5 answered.
Thank you 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
Thanks so much! I couldn’t figure it out on my own and couldn’t get my Rode lapel to work. So, I took a break in order to watch CZcams to figure it out. It resolved my issue. I liked the video, commented, and subscribed to show my appreciation.
Thank you for this video, very informative!
You are welcome!
Hey man, I don't comment often on video's but this just was just so helpful. It seems like such a redundant thing, but clearly it wasn't. Thanks for this video!
Okay, DO NOT use a Rode VXLR for this. I'm pretty sure he's dumping 48 Volts directly into the lavalier. This would probably fry more sensitive lav mics. You need to get the Rode VLXR+. The PLUS on the end means it converts 48 Volt phantom power to 3-5 Volt plug in power. Movo has a similar, less expensive adapter, which is pretty good, but it doesn't work with TS 3.5mm (mono) lavaliers. (VXLR doesn't do mono plugs either, by the way.) VXLR+ is the best all-around adapter for this kinda thing.
YOU ARE RIGHT!
Thanks for the demo!
Thank you......you solved my problem in no time 👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽
Thank you for this! I thought I was going crazy when none of my mics were working!
excellent video and we love your style. From Toronto, Canada
Thank you so much it worked!! 👌🏿👌🏿
Very useful information! My Boya M1 that I bought today still doesn't work with my Zoom H6 but still your content is absolutely great!
Quick and dirty! Thank you so much for that great explanation!
Thank you. You were very helpful.
Thanks dude. You solved a huge issue for me. Thanks again.
amazingly usefull! thanks!
Nice! Thanks for the video, you saved me time finding all that out by myself
Thank you so much
This video is so helpful. Thank you
This is so helpful. Thx
This really helps me a lot, thanks bro...
What a brilliant piece of kit the Zoom is.☺
Thanks buddy! This was exactly what I was trying to do - have a blended signal of 2 Mics (stereo capsule and a Lav), but couldn’t get it to work.
Tried 2 lavs and couldn’t work. So just had the capsule - which did pick up a lot of ambient birds and noise.
Def will try your method!
Helpful! Thanks!
excellent,worked straight away
Worked for me, thanks.
thank you so much for this!
Your video saved my day. Thank you!
That was very helpful.
Thank you. How do you determine what voltage is needed?
Thank you for sharing
Thank you very much ! I subscribe of course !!!
Thanks from Brazil, you solved my problem!
Glad I could help!
Thank you very much!
Thank you a million!!!
Thank you my dude!!
Great stuff my friend! I'm sorted now thank you :>)
Love your videos ..

Thank you
Thanks a lot, i was beginning to think i would have to buy another accessory ;)
Glad to help anytime!
do you happen to know if this would work with an iPhone. Like if I plugged in my iPhone via 3.5 mm cord. would I be able to play music/audio from my iPhone into the zoom and have it record?
Great explanation, Can you please tell me connect to connect ZoomH1n and Boya BY M1 lav mic to my smartphone so that I can record Audio and Video in together.
hey! a little question please,,,can I connect my iPhone with the lineal out from zoom H6 across the rc4 adapter cable bye rode (trs to trss). I want to pick up some calls in my podctast using the H6 live and record it
When using a 3.5mm microphone with a rode vxlr xlr adapter, is it possible to record normally from phantom power at zoom h6?
Does it work at the same level of quality as the microphone capsule?
Thanks so much
Unrelated, but I wish Zoom would make an H6 with 32-bit audio. Thanks for the video.
When you plugin your lav mic, would you need the left and right output to be on
Can this be used with Rode Smart Lav mic [TRSS] ?
Thank you so much!
You're welcome!
Thanks.
A video showing how to connect a Saramonic Blink 500 to a Zoom H6 would be very much appreciated!
Will the Zoom Recorder + Lav Mic improve the overall audio quality compared to just using the Lav Mic plugged into an iPhone?
Another CZcamsr had mentioned specifically that it was a TRRS input on that XY mic module, and then I noticed that it look like a TRS connector that you were plugging in from your lapel mic. Can either be plugged in? Or do you need an adapter if you have one or the other? The manual for this thing isn't very clear when it comes to that.
Thank you so so much! This save our lifes!!!!!!!
if I record with 3 external microphones for example, is it possible to get 3 recording tracks to afterwards edit/eq the tracks in protools? Or will it then be recorded as a mix in one track?
Simple but very informative. The only problem I have with it is the noise I get while recording. Anybody with a solution pls?
thank you, i was scared of buying xlr adaptor because i thought phantom power would damage lavalier microphone
Have you made a test with the Deity V.Lab ?
Hey, thanks for the video. Is it possible to theoretically feed in a line level stereo input into the capsule input? Thanks
Unfortunately I do not have that Zoom H6 recorder anymore to test this out, it sounds like it should work in principle but I cant be sure...
@@HealMyTech1 hey, thanks for the answer. My research shows that it should work without any issues. :)
does XY signal turn off, when you plug the boya on the side of XY?
Hi i tried plugin in my lapier mic at the top jack and did the setting like u mention but it still doesn't work. Is it because i have a dual headed lav mic?
Hi,
I tried but it's still not working. Any idea why?
thanks
How we conect zoom h6 to dslr 600d. How this audio record to dslr by line out in zoom h6 ? Plz explain
This vid was really helpful thanks! I just had one issue and I know you don’t have the Zoom H6 anymore but was wondering if you or anyone can shed light on this.
When I plugged in my lav I could only hear the left side and not sure why. I’m afraid I might’ve fried it somehow.
Also I mistakenly bought a TRRS version of this. But thankfully it came with a TRS adapter. Idk if this may be the issue or I did something with the setting.
Also I bought a 1/4 male to 1/8 female adapter and thought this would work as well. But so far it doesn’t. Something worth returning?
Please help and thanks again! I’m a newbie.
Carroll, there are different versions for this mic, check this link
czcams.com/video/RBxOLnVxg3A/video.html
you most likely have the TS version, you need the TRS or Sennheiser version to not get that bad surprise... Either way, in this video, he explains how to correct it
Cheers
What is the sound it background? It sounds like ham being sliced
is this input stereo and can it accept line level also? thanks
This setup will function if i use rode videomic NTG?
I have 3.5 to xlr adapters and I can't get any of my 3.5mm mics (rode or any other brand) to work on any channel OR EVEN the auxillary channel of my zoom podtrak p4, yet hooking in my phone or any other audio device in any channel works...
Consegue me ajudar? Acabei de comprar a Zoom H6, tenho 4 mic Boya desse modelo e preciso utilizá-los.
Thank you very much. I tried a 1/4 inch TRS adapter on my zoom h6 but it didn't work. I guess 1/4" input does not support phantom power.
Im not sure about that, do you have a link to that info ". I guess 1/4" input does not support phantom power."?
Verry good
After recordings, what to do?
But it only records in mono, does it? What do you do to record in stereo?
doesn't it burn the lav mics if we use the phantom power at any given volts on zoom h6 as the lav mics comes with only 4 or 5 volts? and also can we use rode wireless film kit or wireless go with zoom h6?
Thanks for informative video
I wouldn't like to find that out...to be fair, this level of audio recorder should only or mainly be used with XLR or 1/4 inch mics, not really for 3.5 lav mics...unless I am horribly mistaken..
@@HealMyTech1 HealMyTech Yes, it damages the lav mics just double checked with Curtis judd .
I found a way to use these lav mics with h6 phantom power xlr inputs by using rode vxlr+ to xlr power converter adaptor .
What it does is, it transforms 12- 48 volts phantom power to 3-5 volts which is required for lav mics with 3.5 mm input.( Doesn't damage the lav mics in this scenario)
P.s- Got this info after hours of researching and thought it would be great to share it with you.
☹️ It did not work on my microphone I had to use a TRRS to TRS adapter
Silly question but.. would the zoom h6 be good for film making? Also could I have 3 lavish mics setup and running at once?
of course great for flim making, a lot of pros use it (i'm not a pro). In terms of 3 lavs setup, would they be 3.5mm? I believe its not really a pro practive to use 3.5mm for flims, they would be using lav but with xlr connection, otherwise boom mics etc...
My rode adapter only works when the mic is halfway in.
I have a question about connecting a Lavalier in the XLR port. What if you have 2x Dynamic microphones connected through the XLR that are using 48 V and you want to connect 2x lavalier microphones to the other 2 inputs through XLR? From what I can see you can't change the voltage per XLR port. So from what I understand it is either one or the other is that correct?
Unfortunately I do not have that Zoom H6 anymore to check for you, sorry...but its a great question...I have a friend who has this so I will check if possible and get back to you...
HealMyTech thanks
Jazakallahu khairan brother.. just wondering, is it possible to use 3.5mm to 6.5mm converter and plug the mic on any of the 4 TRS/XLR input? I've tried it, but it did not work..
tarakdungdes I was wondering the same!🤔
maybe the XLR adapter lets phantom power come through and the 6.5mm converter won’t?
@@keithedwinsmith9416 not really sure, yet i suppose if the 24v phantom power went through the converter, the mic would be burnt..
I ended up buying rode VXLR+ for this purpose.. ^^
Thanks
You are welcome!
I don't believe you have to use any phantom power at all for the mic to work, it only needs a very little output of volts - even 12v can damage your mic - there should be enough power without phantom , or setting it to the plug in power if that's possible via xlr
I just did this and I did have to follow all of that for mine to work at all. This was for the inputs on the body with an XLR adapter, I don't think I had to do this for the plug-in on the side of the capsule.
There are cheaper versions to the Rode adaptor. Will they work also?
Sorry but I haven't' tested others, there is not much complicated tech inside them, only an adaptor, not even a convertor, so they should work, only difference might be longevity due to quality difference...in theory
Thanks for the video but mine still didn't work.
#stopthepop nice review
This worked for a few seconds and i could not get to to work again. Any help would be appreciated. I have the Boya BY-M1.
I find it can easily lose connection, physically I mean, need a specific orientation...
great
THANKSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Background music name plz. I like it.. Thank you.
@@HealMyTech1 Thank you
What was it?
Came for Settings > Input/Output > Plugin Power On | Zoom H6 and Rode Videomicro
where did you get that xlr adapter?
From Amazon, links in description....!
@@HealMyTech1 which one is it lol....
found it!
Unfortunately mine isn't working gargh! Walked through the steps but tested both my rode lav and a boya lav and its not having it 😞 any other tips or tricks?
Just got my question answered on another video, my lavs are trrs built for smart phones 👍
I have tried the same thing with the ZoomH5 and continue to get left side audio only. Do you have a solution?
Xlr is 1 mono
You saved me!!!!
