- In this video I talk through and show how I installed this particular system and also offer some pointers on what I ran into during the install. Overall I am impressed with the Express Water Whole House Water Filtration System and feel what I paid for it was of great value to me and my family. I am not an expert plumber, but do have many years of DIY "around the house" work. This install was a little time consuming for me, but I was not in a hurry and did make a few mistakes that caused me some extra work! I hope you enjoy the video and learn some things that will help you with making a decision on a purchase and/or install of this or similar system. *See the Part 2 video of this series to get measurements of the system for a good reference for how much space may be required.*

This is really neat!
Excellent installation! Very detailed in your explanation. Thank you as well for your 'what worked and didn't' details!
Glad it was helpful! Thanks for watching! - Dutch
@@dutchmenmodsandrepairs1427how well made its this system any leaks after all these years...
@@jaandel1 No leaks! Actually quite surprised because I did expect at some point there would be a small leak somewhere. Thank you for watching the video! -Dutch
I'm planning on getting one for my city water. Their customer service is great but I'm just curious how will the system be. They have ULTIMATE PROTECTION which they say is a combination of HEAVY METALS and some other one forgot which one. I just want to test my water before I purchase to ensure I'm getting what's best for me. I also wonder if I need water softener but it's rarely seen installed having city water. We drink high pH bottled water so we can stick with the 3 stage and maybe in the future get RO under sink with something to boost pH.
Great video, will help me a lot
Pretty good buddy
Thank you for the compliment! -Dutch
Thanks great work & just right amount of detail. Appreciate the thought on routing a spin down filter with discharge to outside. Great idea I will use also. I was wondering about mounting the rack off the floor also & using a tray to catch water spills while changing filters. Any thoughts there? Does the changing out spill water ?
Thank you for watching the video and for the kind feedback. The hindsight I have now on this project would definitely alter the mounting height. I would put it high enough on the wall to better remove the filter housings better with less concern over water spills. The flip to that is they could be heavy for some people to handle and would cause an issue of dropping and damaging or hurting themselves. I plan on doing a video in the future to add drains on the bottom of the housings to eliminate the water spill and weight concerns. Good luck with your project! -Dutch
Thanks for the video! Can I install it 1 in.from the water heater tank? It's the best spot in my house next to the main water pipe
That's some professional looking work right there. Do you also have a water softener did you ever test the water for hardness / lead / copper / iron etc?
Thank you for the kind words. You have a good point and perhaps something I could look into at some point. Maybe checking those items prior to filtering and then after...now ya go me thinkin'! -Dutch
Really well thought out. Pro job. Are there any issues with the express leaking?
Thank you for the kind compliment! No leaks either! :) Thank you for watching the video.
Great video! I recently bought this same unit. My question is, did you use all threaded PVC fittings or were most of them glued? Again, thanks for the help!
Thank you for watching the video and the kind feedback! The only threaded connections are the ones that connect to the inlet and out of the filter pack. Everything else is either glued PVC or the sharkbite fittings good for PVC. Hope this helps! - Dutch
@@dutchmenmodsandrepairs1427 Thanks!Very quick response, appreciate it!
Very nice setup and the video has good info. How long it takes you to complete? I am not sure how you attached the cooper to the PCV pipe?
Hello. All of the piping is PVC with the exception of the SharkBite fittings. It is very important that you get the fittings that are specifically for PVC as the other SharkBite fittings for copper, Pex, CTS and IPS are probably (most likely) different. The entire job took us about 5-6 hours, but would have been a couple hours less if we had used the SharkBite fittings to begin with and hadn't had the initial leaks. Thank you for watching the video and for the compliments!
Shark bites 👎👎👎
Wow, your system looks awesome, great job ! Did you consider a pre-spin down filter ? 👍👍💙
Hello and thank you for the compliment! We did consider a 50 micron spin down filter, but because we are on city water we felt it would be a little over-kill. If we were on well water or our city water was exceptionally bad we would definitely add one of those to the system. - Dutch

I understand, we are on a well in the country, and most videos I see, recommend one for heavy iron content. Glad yours is working well. No pun intended. 😂👍
@@d.j.robinson9424 I would agree. For a well setup I would probably consider a 50 micron spin down, SED - sediment filter, KDF - for metals and organics and finally a ACB for taste and other organics. The SED filter would probably need to be changed every 6 months, but you could visually tell that with the a clear filter housing like in the Express House Filtration system. Best of luck with your project!
@@dutchmenmodsandrepairs1427 thank you so much.👍
@@d.j.robinson9424 you are welcome!
I have the standard 3 filter system, just hooked it all up and turned the water on. The first white filter is reading 0 psi on the pressure gauge and the next 2 are right around 50 psi. Any idea what may be causing this? I have no leaks or anything and the water pressure on the faucets all seem good
Hi Thomas. Right out of the gate, I would say it is a bad gauge. If you want to confirm that, I'd swap a known good one with that one and see if the 0 psi indication moves. -Dutch
This is perfect way to setup this system. Would you mind sharing the height, width and length of the system ?
Hello Kamran! We are glad the video is something you have found to be helpful. If you could let us know exactly what measurements you are looking for on the overall installation we will either do another video with that information or will include it in our next reply. I will start by asking if you are wanting measurements just for the filter system itself or are you wanting to see what kind of space our complete (piping and everything) is taking up?
@@dutchmenmodsandrepairs1427 If you can share the measurement of the system itself so i can see if it can fit in small town home. Also if you can share how much space it took with all piping include. Your setup is very good and i will follow that. If you want to make another video its probably better.
@@KamranNaushad sorry for such a slow reponse! We just uploaded a video on the system that includes many measurements. If you need more, just let us know!
Is it better to use pex instead of pvc?
Really no difference with pex vs pvc. If you have the tools to do pex, then that would be an option. I can't give you a cost comparison on the two either. As long as you aren't restricting flow volume, then I imagine you could use whatever works for you i.e. pvc, pex, copper, etc... -Dutch
