Nanci was a National Treasure🇺🇸It seemed few people knew that, those that did were musicians, writers, true artists that knew the best music...She was a unbelievable talent who was married to Eric Taylor, another great song-writer, look him up as well...Nanci was a legend, too bad Nashville never really picked up on that...I cried the day I heard, she was so sweet and sensitive, a truly beautiful human being...Rest Easy Nanci

Now that I listen to this song my eyes get wet with loneliness by her passing, she was someone sensitive, deep and kind....these qualities reflected on her visage.

I knew Nanci & Eric back in the old days. Nance was a sublimely talented performer & writer. Eric was a scorchingly gifted poet/songwriter.

How does a guy from The Bronx fall for the music of such a delicate flower from Austin, Tx? Nanci's combination of musical sensitivity, intelligence, and courage to not be bullied into conforming to industry demands proved as irresistible as her crystalline voice. Thank-You, Nanci, for being such a blessing.

Im Bronx born and left Long Island many moons ago...lived in the West, Florida, now Ohio and I fell like a rock for Nanci when I bought her Flyer album. I agree w everything you said....she's pretty, cute, adorable all at the same time but although smiling, I always sensed a perpetual broken heart and a yearning unfulfilled. Broke my heart...again...when she passed.

The test of a true talent is seeing them in concert and they sound just as good as the recording. Zero studio enhancement. I was privileged to see he in concert 4 times and loved every one. Nanci’s talent as a song writer was a great as her voice. So incredibly sad she is gone but thank goodness her music will live on forever.

I heard "It's a Hard Life " on the radio many moons ago and my poor kids can now sing every lyric she ever wrote. I missed the news of her death until a couple of months afterward and I thought I would have felt the earth quake with such a loss. I play your golden voice almost daily and probably always will.

She tugged at my musical heart when I worked at a Country music station in Penticton BC, Canada back in the early 90's. First heard and saw her on 'Sunday Night' aka 'Night Music' in the late 80's with 'A Hard Life Wherever You Go'. Broke down crying. I felt honest emotion with her heartfelt music. Thank You and Rest In Peace, Nanci Griffith.

Whilst reminiscing watching past NG videos on YT:
I decided to check out her status on Wikipedia.
I was truly saddened to learn she had passed nearly a year to the day.
I don't recall it being reported in the UK media.
I was fortunate to see her in concert a few times in the 1990s.
Long live her style of music.

The pin is a campaign pin for LBJ's presidential campaign. LBJ was from Texas near Austin. He's the president who signed the Civil Rights legislation in the 1960s. LBJ has been somewhat controversial, but Nanci always wore the button because of his work for Civil Rights.
