Nice Demo! I just purchased the MODX. It's very exciting as you say.

    I like this presentation.
    It seemed genuine.
To those that say the MODX may not be a MONTAGE.
That is true, but the MODX is the best and probably the last synth I will ever own,
unless I get a MONTAGE, lol.
The difference in sound between the two synths is next to nill.
I don't mind having the second best synth on planet earth.

The Modx does NOT have the same engine as the Montage. They are similar.
The Montage has more polyphony. 128+128 vs 128+64 on the Modx.
The Montage is more powerful. It can Seamlessly Switch Sounds with 8 parts, where as the Modx craps out at 4.
The Montage can control more midi channels, audio channels and handle higher sample rates than the Modx.
The Modx has a drum machine button and a mix control knob that the Montage lacks. It has a different (digital) sound output. The Montages is Analog.
The Montage has Aftertouch and a Ribbon controller, the Modx doesn't.
The Montage has more Memory built in.
Read the manual before you spout nonsense as fact. Go to Yamaha's site to see that the 2 machines are different. Yamaha is not going to sell a Montage for half price by putting it in a plastic case. They are similar and closely related but if you push the processing hard the Modx will show where corners were cut.
The Modx is great value and a good synth but is is NOT a Montage at half the price. Buy a used Montage for less than the Modx, you will not regret it. That is what I did.

      Hi Tiomkin Ng,
Thanks for your insightful comment. You're absolutely correct in saying the two keyboards are different and as you would expect from a keyboard almost double the cost, the MONTAGE runs a multitude of premium features including a higher FMX polyphony, seamless audio switching and higher sample rates.
However, what I explained in the video is that the tone generator (which I refer to as the 'engine' of the instrument) is the same. They both feature Yamaha's AWM2 Motion Control Synthesis Engine, an 8 Element FM-X engine with 8 Operators and 88 Algorithms.
The MODX is extremely similar to the MONTAGE but obviously capped to cater for the price you pay; which as you mentioned include polyphony, aftertouch, memory, more faders/dials, ribbon controller etc.
Thanks again for your comment and I hope any confusion between the information in the video and further comments are cleared up nicely.

Yes the polyphony is Higher in the montage but it’s the same engine it’s only a slim slight difference in the sound barley noticeable
