Lessons can be frustrating. Happy Birthday! Good job! During the middle of lessons, go take your CFI for a “fun” flight for the enjoyment of flying again. No goals, pick a sightseeing destination, enjoy the scenery, remember the joy of flying. Then on the next lesson, get back on your goal oriented flying.

Landing, like any skill in life, takes practice, and plenty of it. Don’t be hard on yourself, it will come to you. I really like your instructor, she is relaxed and not intimidating which enables YOU to be relaxed and not intimidated by her. An instructor’s personality is contagious, which I know from experience. When I was learning to drive semis, my instructor was just so cool and relaxed. Sure, I made mistakes like any rookie would, but he would just talk me through things calmly and reassuringly and then I caught on quickly. Believe me, backing a 53 foot trailer into a tight dock space is not easy and I had to work at it. (try parallel parking one!) Now, it’s like a walk in the park. Landings will be that way for you in due time. Just take your time, put in the work, and the rest will follow. Btw, that last attempt was awesome, great job! 👍
For sure!! We have been having a lot of fun! She is super relaxed and pushes me and has a ton of paitence!

This reminded me so much of my time as a ppl student - I spent years before on flightsims so I was pretty proficient with all the theory, the instruments etc - BUT THE FEEL for some of the maneuvers and especially the FLARE...yep i does take a bit of time to get the knack of it - some get it faster than others - but nobody masters it on the first go - it's a process - with every landing attempt you sharpen the feel you have for it- and at one point you will master it. And by the way - three flights in a day ...wow - that's a lot I remember being totally knackered after a single one. So keep up the good work, you'll get there - you seem to be in very good hands!
Thank you so much!! Been loving every minute so far. The three a days are great but typically followed by a down weather day or two so it's sustainable. If it was three a days every day no breaks I would burn out for sure!
Happy birthday! 🎉 learning right along with you. I’ve had 9 lessons so far. I started at the end of February and have had lots of weather and mechanicals cancel my lessons. So, it’s amazing to watch you do multiple lessons in a single day! Takes a lot of stamina!

Not that you really need this, all of this is completely normal, but look for Rod Machado’s video called “The Runway Expansion Effect” if you’re looking for cues about when to flare.
You know I tried to watch that video and I just got super confused. Not sure what clicked but it did and now my landings are consistently not as scary!
You’re kicking butt and taking names Cally! It’s good to want perfection but allow yourself time too. You’re going to master all of it but it takes time and practice. You’re moving at a faster than normal pace which is kind of good. It keeps everything fresh so with less down time you’re able to work on things you want to change or expand on right away. Your drive for this is commendable also. I love that your watching videos in between. Flight simulators are good too. Take care!! 👍🤠👍

Not a pilot, but I've been a passenger on innumerable flights of fixed and rotary wing aircraft and I've gotta say I thought those were awesome landings. Keep up the great work.

You are coming along nicely. It takes a little time and practice to get the landings down. It will all come together in time. I have noticed in your radio calls you are missing your aircraft type. Cessna 42L should be used and not shortened. I realize you are at a non controlled airport and radio calls are not required but are recommended. You are talking to other potential aircraft and it helps them to identify you visually so they know what they are looking for. It is more important with multiple aircraft in the pattern and you should always use good habits. Good luck with your training! You are doing great.
Thanks! That's how we call at the school airport because there are so many planes in the pattern so it would be a lot if everyone did their entire sign. When we go elsewhere we call correctly. Or I mean, I try to 😂. Be sure to watch my first ATC experience because I messed up a ton of calls!
@@AgAviationAdventures I have heard others doing the same thing and by shortning your call you reduce radio chatter. However, the reason you use your aircraft type when you are at a ctaf airport is because it is possible to have two aircraft with similar numbers and be different types. You are allowed to shorten your N number after the initial calls to help reduce the radio conversation. If i am flying into an airport and i am listening to the radio frequency, i want to know what I am looking for. I will be able to identify an aircraft type from a distance but I may never be able to read the N number to identify you. Busy airports can have two or three aircraft on a leg of the flight at the same time. If you have ever watched videos of people flying into Oshkosh on Air Venture week you will understand how important the type of aircraft is. I didn’t mean to get into a lengthy conversation about this but I think it is important that everyone uses the same position reports for safety reasons. The FAR/AIM manual clearly describes the procedures for aircraft radio operations. Enjoy your training you are doing great so far.
