- I just bought the smallest street legal motorcycle in the world! Its a 1986 Yamaha YSR80 with a 2 stroke 80cc engine. Yamaha only made these for a few years and this one was shipped in all the way from Japan! I bought it from a guy in New York to show to you guys!

Or just grow a pair and buy a bike they make for men?

When it comes to 90's cool/unique vehicles, Yamaha takes the cake
the bike is from the 80's -- even cooler
The Honda nsr 50 and 80 Are almost the same....... Becouse i thought it was one of those at the beginning
Most Japanese makers have made gag bikes. Suzuki street magic etc
Where's the cake? I'm hungry.
I think Honda is better
Buddy of mine owns one. He swapped a 200cc blaster motor on his. It is actually scary quick now
Is he planning on travelling to the future or something?
I was thinking a 91 92 YZ80 you know those things do about 95 to 105 that little bitty bike would be stupid fast
Carson Jennings 😂 more
Like 60ish mph
Eric Fisher would your buddy like to work a deal on a swap
Problem is too many of these bikes have been hacked and swapped making them next to impossible to find especially one in decent shape, that's why good rideable stock ones sell for over $2000
"No goats were harmed in the punching of this goat" 😂 and the fact he got his family to actually let him put the bike on the kitchen table makes this video epic asf
Who'd have thought air cooled 2 strokes don't like being at the rev limit at highway speeds for long durations.
RIP that engine.
I was waiting for the bang the whole video lol
I raced a YSR 50 for several years back in the late 80s and early 90s. Absolutely no problem hammering that engine for hours at a time. Longest YSR race was the 12 Hours Of Texas endurance race with most of the bikes finishing the race.
He probably didn't put oil in it. He broke it on purpose. One less original japanese 2t in the road my friends.
Why would you think he broke it on purpose?
I’d rebuild with a YZ 85 2 stroke water cooled.
Please do a rebuild on this bike with performance parts.
Gsxr swap it
with overnight parts from Japan!
PugGaming “pop the hood”
For sure! That would be awesome.
ikr
I suspect it isn't broken BTW, sounds like a classic heat seizure for a two-stroke that was running too lean. Should be a very easy fix, even if the crankcase is totally shot, it would run within a day's work of replacing the shaft bearings and putting on a new cylinder.
True, it's not hard to fix a 2 stroke.
its air coooled and not so good for 80cc bikes to crank to 100 kph for a long time. unless its a race block and had oil coolant or air scoop like the old sicl kawasaki did(air scoop from shield sucks air straight to cool the head block or prob like what intercooler does befpre air reach carb
Yes. He broke it because he was stupid and doesn't care.
You keep saying he broke it on purpose. Prove it.
I’m so glad you joined the YSR flock! The YSR, GSXR 50 and the NSR 50 are just so much fun. I’d rather ride a slow bike fast than any fast car slow.
You know you have a perfect CR500 motor going to waste in that Harley frame .
Do what any sane person would do , shoe horn that motor into the YSR
Why don't they make things like this now. I'd buy one.
They are very siccck lil Bike's! I bet all the Grommmm's ANTIFA biker boi's would buy one..😆😁
They do Its called a cbr 125r lol
Surprisingly you can get something somewhat similar in Australia brand new. Although it's a supermoto and not a sport bike.

Easily one of the best videos EVER made… Outstanding! Thanks for creating and posting!! 👍
Love the verses within your videos. and GREAT info on bikes! Love your channel!
If it's not fixable y'all should throw a way too big 2-stroke motor in it like a 125cc or 200cc
Definitely, exactly what I was thinking. Big bore kit, stroked, maybe even nitrous. Go big or go home lol.
Cr500 in dat bit
It is fixable. He could change cylinder kit. Biggest cylinder to 50cc motor is 110cc. But that also means he have to buy other stuff and bore the motor block so it would work. Am6 motor with 100 cc 2fast cylinder is very fast. Maybe to dangerous to that moped. Would recommend to buy an am6 motor and then 100 cc cylinder

I believe Honda made 125cc street legal versions of the Monkey, Gorilla and Dax. Those are even smaller
Yes
Honda ct70 street legal and smaller
The Honda 110 NICE moped motor fits in the z50 frames, they have been bored and tuned to top out over 100 mph. The popular Lifan crate motors and almost every horizontal pit bike motor with a carb is based on them. The newer Grom and Monkeys are gutless by comparison for some reason, even though they are 125's. Checkout some of the Honda NICE gorilla or monkey videos where they dyno them, some of the bikes are well over 10k in CNC custom parts alone.
@@charliewernette When I was in highschool I built a monkey from the frame up, and indeed, we looked for 140cc pitbike engines to slam under it.

The bike self mixes from a separate oil tank, so it might have a problem affecting the ratio. Either way, it's an old motor.

Great video, thank you. My first street legal bike was a US-spec 1987 YSR50 with a Toomey pipe, Boyesen reeds, and the carb re-jetted. It would do about 55mph with me on it, and I weighed about 200lbs at the time. I showed a petite female friend how to ride it and she fit on it perfectly.
Looks like it was running lean on oil. Usually 2 strokes have a bit of visible smoke.
That's because people usually put too much oil in lol
That’s excess oil burning
It's smokeless 2-stroke oil. Bike blew up because it overheated
When I was in high school 8 or 9 of my friends friends and I had ysr 50s. We all had them licensed as mopeds so we could drive at 15. They are super fun little bikes!
No way.. That would be so sick!!!
Great Video! I bought a brand new YSR50 (not 80) back in 1988 and it was a blast. In high school I parked it at the bike rack "no parking pass need" and left for lunch everyday as parking lot gate wasn't keeping me in. Plus I would do what you tried to and take short cuts everywhere through yards and fields (no cell phones or cameras then).
I wish I had found your channel years ago. I am seriously loling. God bless man!
*SRK breaks cool Japanese mini bike*
Me: Sadness noises
It's amazing how little a motorcycle salesman knows about motorcycles.
SRK didn't break it, it broke itself. They weren't doing anything to it that it wasn't designed for.
I'm going to put one in my saddlebag for an emergency in case my real bike breaks down.
I remember seeing one of these YSR 80s that was YZ400 swapped back in the late 80s early 90s. These are cool stuff

Can only imagine how much fun one of these with a blaster engine in it is! I had a ysr 50 but it was stock. Had tons of fun riding with a buddy who still has his that's a black one that's all original and in almost brand new condition he's had since it was almost new. Only thing he did to it was put Douglas wheels on it. It's a sweet looking bike. Wish I hadn't got rid of mine but sold it to help buy a Honda 250r to race.

"yeah, but why does *dad* get to have a motorcycle" - very close to spitting out my coffee :D
Sick bike. But any 2 stroke isnt ment to be held wide open throttle like a 4 stroke
Your 100% wrong bend a valve
jj Watson Not true, I own multiple 2 stroke engines that will happily run all day at WOT. I have a 2 stroke blower that I have filled the gas tank, started it up and set the throttle lock to full open and run it without ever letting off until it ran out of gas then filled the tank back up and do it again sometimes 3 or 4 tanks in a row. I use my blower professionally and it has been going strong for 3 years of daily use now. I also have a 2 stroke moped (a real moped with pedals, not a scooter) that I can run at full throttle for as long as I want and it runs fine. It just comes down to individual engines and whether or not the cooling system is sufficient and whether the engine is tuned correctly. I have both 2 and 4 stroke engines that I can run wide open without worry and I have both 2 and 4 stroke engines that I wouldn’t run wide open without the occasional blip of the throttle to let them cool. Personally I think that cooling system of the bike in the video was not up to par like it should have been for a small bike that will inevitably be ridden hard. My guess is it may not have been as effective as it was when the bike was brand new and even brand new it probably could have used a larger radiator.
I thought 2 strokes do like WOT and 4 strokes like to stay lower in the powerband
JJ, you're wrong man. My 1988 Razz (see it in my videos) is designed to run wide open, and does, all day. It is 50cc, 32 years old, and has 7,500 miles on it. Still runs fine.
wrong its the engine breaking that kills it
You can rebuild your YSR80 with many countless high performance aftermarket parts from Japan, you'll get impressed how your little crotch rocket can perform
Most of aftermarket parts are from Kitaco and Daytona brands, to name few
Also, the YSR50 also interchanges many parts with your YSR80, Even the JDM service manuals and parts catalogues and other literature are shared
The base YSR80 engine is also shared with a Yamaha RX80 and RX50, so it might not be any issues in hunting for the right OEM parts to overhaul your engine
Cool shades, for sure.
