Ageism is a sad thing in Hollywood. #Henrycavill is pretty much everyone's favorite.
    Tall ✔️
    Swave ✔️
Intelligent ✔️ looks amazingly good in a suit ✔️
Trained in mix martial arts ✔️
    Very strong ✔️
    Dedicated to his roles ✔️
    Smoldering good looks check ✔️
Fight scene in MI Fall Out should be entered into evidence.
Daniel Craig was 38 when he took on the role of Bond but looked 48. Henry is 40 and looks 35. I could go on...😂

IN my view - Daniel Craig was the best bond by far. He had the look of an MI6 agent, a spy, a trained cold blooded killer, and that takes a toll on a person's mind - so the suttle looks, the aura around him in that role - he was the perfect Bond. Now that being said I can fully agree with your list regarding Henry Cavill, perfect superman, had the same character experiences and torment - case and point, the scene he had to kill Zod in - then watch him in The Witcher (loved that show, again he was brilliant in that) SO yeah - I agree with you, I think Henry would/could be a damn good bond.
However, Daniel Craig played it so well, I honestly feel sorry for anyone who plays Bond after him - as Daniel set the standard for Bond. The early ones, Bond was more of a ladies man, boarder lining cheesy, Daniel Craig, took the role in a much much more serious and darker path (which you would expect for an MI6 agent).

Nah... he's too good of an actor to be wasted on Bond. James Bond is a sociopathic alpha male with limited emotional depth. That's why Daniel Craig hates doing him.
I'm not saying that to trash Bond. I absolutely love Bond movies. But you never see once Connery or Moore being vulnerable. And when Lazenby was vulnerable, he wasn't hired again.
Fassbender is much more suited to roles with emotional depth.

Henry Cavill got very good looks and from thoese clips I could see him be very stylish as James Bond with his pistol, charisma in the poker table and ability to play with the ladies. Henry Cavill would so make good serious bond for the next decade. When he isent too old or too young either, when he just enetered his 40s.

So refreshing to have a high profile Bond creator, like yourself advocate for Aidan Turner. You said it best. He checks ALL the boxes. His performance in “And Then There Were None” was like his Bond audition. And he has the essence of Sean Connery from his best Bond films. Thank you for bringing his name back into the discussion! Unfortunately, Turner himself seems to not want the fame and has made comments about “not being a fan” of the series and you know Barbie and Mikey G Wiz don’t take kindly to such things, but who knows! He turns 40 next month, so will that automatically take him out of the running? I’m with you, it would be a dream to have him become our next James Bond....thank you!

I remember Clive Owen back in the day said he wasn't too keen on the hype around Bond and it wasn't for him [even though I still see comments saying he should be Bond]. Sam Neil said something similar last year [stating the 'screen test' he took part in was his agents idea]. Maybe the role just isn't for Turner and there's no shame in that as it's going to define your life going forward. I would presume 40+ is probably 'out of the running' given about the only think which has been said is wanting a Bond for '10 years'.

It occurred to me after watching this video that maybe that's why Eon is dragging their feet so hard. Maybe they've already made up their mind to cast a much younger Bond this time, and if they just wait a couple more years, they can use "age" as an excuse why they didn't go with the obvious one who most people want: Henry Cavill. 😢

If they go with a younger actor to portray Bond I think it’ll be a huge mistake. The age range of the actor to play this character should always remain 40-55 give or take. Considerably younger or older would make Bond less faithful

I also say Cavill; no, he isn't Sean Connery, but, the interesting thing about Cavill is he really looks like the Bond of the book covers from the 1950s. He's also a serious actor who can convincingly play various roles. As for Elba, yes, Bond should absolutely be white, but, interestingly, Elba might be the closest thing to Connery. Turner would be great if they made the Bond films period pieces set in the '50s and '60s when they were written. Keep the rest.

👍 Excellent overview of good actors. James Bond should always be:
    1) A real Brit
    2) A straight male
    3) Middle aged (remember Bond was originally written as a WW2 Naval Commander operating as 007 in the early 1950s.
    4) A suave, but tough personality (as in Connery, Brosnan, & Craig - remember he is a killer assassin)
Any ACTOR who can display these characteristics would be suitable. I generally agree with your choices, particularly your suggestions on possible Bond villains.

You could use Idiris Elba as 008 (the agent M always threatens to re-assign Bonds missions to) in a 007 needs to rescue 008 plot. The cons of this idea is it could turn the movie into a Leathel Weapon buddy film but with British accents. A double 00 agent turned bad guy plot would be just another re-hash of Goldeneye and Skyfall.

    * That's gotta be rough being the person who has to cast the role of Bond for a reboot. The actor would have to be at least 5'10", around 30 years old(give or take a year), have an athletic build like Daniel Craig, and they would have to look, at least, a little bit like Ian Fleming's original concept of Bond(although Daniel Craig proved that you can actually have a blonde Bond, and make it work), but I agree with you that Henry Cavill would've made a pretty good Bond. Unfortunately he and Aidan Turner are around 40 years old now. They might be willing to do 3 Bond films at best. If we manage to find an actor who is between 29-31, there would be enough time for them to do *"7"* Bond films(like Sean Connery and Roger Moore).

Skyfall won a Best original song Oscar. A view to a kill was number two in the UK charts, Paul Hardcastle with the song "19" held number 1. Adele and Skyfall had a similar faith, since "Don't you worry child" with the Swedish House Mafia prevented Skyfall from reaching the number one spot. Skyfall also reached number 2 on the Hot 100, only one down from Duran Duran's A view to a kill, but several places above the two other Bond theme Oscar winners, written and performed by Sam Smith and Billie Eilish respectively.
Therefore, objectively speaking, Skyfall is the biggest Bond hit of all time.

@@paulthomas3247 Honor Blackman [who you mentioned] and Diana Rigg were both cast in Bond from TV's 'The Avengers'. Jill St. John was also well known before Bond. The 'lessor names' was more because Eon didn't like paying the actresses much money [Catherine Deneuve was told they only paid the lead female $80,000 which was 20% of her usual salary while Roger was getting $1 million], hence why models and unknowns [like Jane Seymore who would become big later] got it.

There've been (more or less) authentic adaptations of Arthur Conan Doyle SHERLOCK HOLMES stories, Agatha Christie MISS MARPLE and HERCULE POIROT stories, and others... I'd love to see Fleming's JAMES BOND... but more, I'd like to see someone finally go back and adapt Leslie Charteris SAINT stories from the beginning. And realize that Simon Templar is NOT a professional thief (retired or otherwise), he was always a crusader for justice. (That's what set him apart from THE LONE WOLF and BOSTON BLACKIE.)

My sense is they will want to cast an actor who can do at least 4 fims. Maybe 5 so they won't go too old. I get the feeling they will want really strong continuity between each movie, almost a sequel because that is the way cinema is going. I dont think though the attempts to link up all the Craig bond movies really worked, it felt like retconing. I didnt buy that Skyfall was somehow part of Blofelds plan.
