Maybe a brocade fabric or a denim? I'm not sure of where you are but I think as long as the fabric is a similar weight and drape it could work.

Hello, I'm 14 years old and from Vietnam, Christmas is coming and I really need a military style winter coat (it has long legs like mangtoo), even though my parents never had one. intended to buy me a jacket with such a classic design, but I was really interested and passionate about classic fashion style, so I rummaged through a pile of old black khaki pants (I didn't even have money to buy fabric) left in the prison and brought them out in the hope of being able to take advantage of it to make a suitable greatcoat, however I don't know how to sew and have never sewn a suit before. Now, can you give me some suggestions on the lining material on the inside of the shirt to make it breathable but still warm and some useful tips when starting to sew a greatcoat? hope forward to seeing new rep from you !! thanks
I recommend viscose or acetate lining. To make the coat warmer, look for a wool wadding and line the coat with it. When it comes to sewing, it's best to buy some cheap cotton fabric (thrifted bed sheets) and sew a muslin or practice sewing difficult elements, such as the collar 😊

I do my own nails, so they are not very durable 😅 Because I record the whole process, it takes me longer, about a month
Could you stay stitch the skirt panels along the seam-line where it falls on the bias to reduce the potential for stretch.
I don't think it would change much :)
@@eserielpatterns8402 I have some fusible iron on seam tape, (very light weight so doesn’t add bulk); which is great for stabilising a seam particularly if it falls on the bias. It’s used in higher end men’s suit jackets.

This coat is intended for intermediate users, but you can always try it. You can practice more difficult elements on some old fabrics :)

So tired of pattern makers not including smaller sizes, like EU 32 is always forgotten
What exact measurments do you mean? I often make patterns to individual measurments, for example if someone has large discrepancies between sizes, it is not a problem for me to make a smaller size (at no additional cost) 😊

Smaller sizes like a standard EU 32 are almost never included on etsy and absolutely neglected by creators. We can easily find bigger sizes up to EU 56 but they never go two sizes below a standard EU 36.@@eserielpatterns8402
