    Impressed the doors opened so easily after the crash

    I would like to see the insurance institute's testing as they do a partial head on which is more realistic. Although I feel better about slamming into a concept wall with my Bolt EUV!

    I just learned that it got a 5 star rating

    Is there a video with back seat passengers? In car seats?

      NHTSA hasn't performed car seat testing since about 2009-2010. Earlier NHTSA tests have some child occupants in car seats.

    Isn’t the structure seen from below supposed to crumble instead of break?

      It's only the subframe for the engine not the high strength steel frame rails that you can't see.

      Cast aluminum subframe

    • @CarPro1993
      @CarPro1993  Před rokem +3

      @Jacob Hewitt is correct, cast aluminum doesn't bend much, and typically shatters in situations with high stress.

    I wonder can they reuse that battery pack?... Or is it damaged beyond being reused since this is a crash test

    • @tterbo128
      @tterbo128 Před rokem +1

      It depends if it enters the battery compartment. We had a 2020 Bolt EV totalled when a van hit the back right at ~50mph. It bent the back left wheel in and spun the car around. No injuries though. Anyway, to the point the insurance company was going to pay to fix it until they found damage to the battery compartment. The car never caught on fire though. The car just stayed turned on. It was other wise fine. It had almost a full battery charge still the last time we saw it.

      @@tterbo128 well ain't no telling where they took your Chevy I know nine times out of 10 insurance took it to auction and it was auctioned off and somebody's probably parting it out as we speak but when it gets down to that battery I don't think it's too many places to recycle car batteries at the moment

      @tterbo128 Před rokem

      @@jermainec2462 Yeah I have wondered about that. the car was mostly fine. It even played the happy gm tune when we opened the doors after the accident like it wanted to keep enjoying car life. I guess i hope for the car's sake that somebody decided to fix it and sell it. We got a 2022 Bolt EV to replace it.

    what is 50th% male? I'm clueless, I mean a person can read a lot of false information. Anyone?

    • @CarPro1993
      @CarPro1993  Před rokem +4

      A 50th percentile male occupant is designed to replicate a 5' 10" man that weighs about 180 lbs.
