  • The traditional seafood CATAPLANA - cooked on location in Algarve, PORTUGAL'
A cataplana is an item of cookware used to prepare Portuguese seafood dishes, popular on the country's Algarve region. One of the most the most famous dishes made in a cataplana is "Cataplana de Mariscos" and I've come to the coastal village of Fuseta to prepare it - as always following instructions from the locals.

I recently discovered your channel, I want to thank you for inspiring me to get cooking the food I love again.
This COVID is very depressing, I live alone, and as a senior I find it hard to get inspired. I rely on grocery and Amazon delivery as I don’t venture out these days. I have two beautiful Portuguese Cataplanas, and it’s high time they once again see the light of day. They really do produce the best the dishes!
I spend most of my day watching CZcams cooking videos, from all over the world, wonderful! Which in turn leads me to some of the most fantastic international movies I have ever seen, thank goodness for sub titles. Thank you once again for your dedication that benefits us all that enjoy them. Please stay well and take care.

for those who are a little concerned using aluminum cooking vessels, they do sell stainless steel cataplanas. a little pricier , but gives you the piece of mind

I'm so pleased I found your channel Pete, I love the way you stick firmly to the classical preparations.
Very similar to Keith Floyd, but without as much booze?

I would have thought the clams would have been rubbery. I would add them in later, but perhaps the pot prevents rubbery clams.

      Hey Marty
As far as I can remember, they were too small to be rubbery. It seemed to be more about the sauce...the shells... the flavour. Thanks for commenting :)
