      @@robbie6625 if you're going to be working with mostly sheet goods (e.g. plywood and MDF) then you should consider waiting until you can afford a 4'x8' commerical machine. The type of work I do doesn't require a footprint that large so I can do 99% of what I need with a 4'x4' machine.

    I noticed in the comments that you are not planning an enclosure for the Elite Foreman as you are happy with your dust collection. How have you found the noise level with your current setup with spindle and no enclosure? Thanks. Loved your old enclosure - I am considering using it as a basis for my on order Elite Journeyman - unless not needed.

    • @EigenDesigns
      @EigenDesigns  Před 8 měsíci

      The spindle is definitely quieter than the old Makita router, but I found that the loudest thing in my shop was my dust collector that sits right next to my CNC table. It didn't seem to matter that the CNC noise was dampened when the dust collector is still roaring in my shop. Not everyone will be in the same situation as me so perhaps an enclosure still makes sense for some.
      Good luck Richard!

      They are both good CNCs for entry-level and hobbyist woodworkers. I think you'll find the real learning curve is associated with the CNC software (e.g. designing and tool paths) moreso than the CNC machine itself. I personally prefer OneFinity and found them to be very helpful from a customer service standpoint.

    New subscriber here. Your videos are very well done and easy to watch. A couple of questions - do you plan to build a new enclosure for this machine? If not, why did you decide not to? Your machine base looks really nice but do you have any issues with it not being completely flat or rigid enough? I am close to ordering an Elite Journeyman and have watched people build torsion boxes to mount the machine to and I just wonder if that would be overkill.

    • @EigenDesigns
      @EigenDesigns  Před 8 měsíci +1

      Hey Andy, no plans to build an enclosure. Two main reasons for this: my dust collect is good enough to where shavings going everywhere isn't a concern for me. Also, an enclosure for a CNC this large could make access a challenge so I elected to have an "open-top" concept.
      Also, no issues with the rigidity of the base. The base is super solid and I have not had any issues with it at all after surfacing the spoilboard. I don't personally see a need for that with how I use my machine.
