Jeff, a big thank you for this. I took your TrueFire effects course and watched it three time. This was a great refresher which I also watched multiple times and took notes. I really like how you gain staged your distortion blocks: Fuzz > Klon/Tube Screamer low drive/high level for mid boost > Overdrive. It's nice how these different gain stage components work together. The Overdrive provide an initial foundation of a slightly overdriven amp tone at controllable volume, and with more flexible voicing control than is easily possible in a tube amp. The the Klon provides the mid boost and drive into the overdrive to provide mid-focused control of saturation. Then the Fuzz at the beginning provides even more saturation control, with that overdrive at the end maintaining control of the overall tone. Saturation before tone for the most control. Thanks for a great video.
I love your videos Jeff. I just bought a Vemuram ODS1, in a large part because of you! The pedal only arrived a couple of days, so I’m still in the honeymoon period. But I’m relieved that the Vemuram sounds absolutely fantastic so far!
Hi Jeff, I saw you demo the PRS DGT, and decided to take a closer look at your channel! Nice little rundown on your pedals. It sounds great! All the classic tones, with new stuff! Very inspiring..
Great run thru. You just nail so many beautiful tones but still dial them in with such subtlety. Each tone is just one step away from the next. You always impress. So happy I found you😍
Great small pedalboard you got here. Especially amazed by the careful choice of overdrive stacks: all pedals sound complementary to each other and I must say I’ve been guessing for a long time what overdrive chain should I get to build my small board. Well, I don’t think it gets any better than that, unless you’re after hi-gain metal chunks. The two rock is a Rolls-Royce platform though. Thanks, really enjoyed
"Where does he get all those wonderful toys!"... I always thought you used a compressor too... Hmm... Great tones in them OD's... The sinister laugh after you had all of them on is fully understandable btw...lol
So I tried to reproduce these tones with Helix. The overdrive, distortion, fuzz and effects tones were easy enough. But that clean tone with that Strat, well that was a completely different matter. I used a Strat with SVL Daytona single coil pickups (created by Simon Law, built by Jerry Amalfitano, used by Matt Schofield), and the Helix Derailed Ingrid amp model (Trainwreck). I couldn't get that close. That guitar and amp have a warm throaty tone that has rich highs without being thin and bright. That's a fantastic starting point for building a tone.
Jeff, you are my hero! On True Fire today - oh my god, what a beautiful Les Paul! And your Strat '64 - unbelieveable , so awesome! Your pedalboard is the very best i have ever seen! My Pedalboard - Vermuram Galeo, Octavia and Voodoo Vibe from Roger M., DD 500, and so on...
Hi Jeff! Hope you’re doing well! Awesome tones as always…I’m doing your pentatonic deep dive course on TrueFire just now, which is excellent - I can’t recommend it enough for someone like me who has been stuck in a pentatonic rut for a few years! Take care!
Thanks for the post. Great little rig. I have a very similar setup, but have run my Vibe after my Fuzz? Dig your observations about order. Really nice sounds. Inspiring me to tidy up my board. Really enjoyed your Fuzz into Overdrive sounds, and have to figure out how to get my triple gain stages going again? (Mini Fuzz Ge>Purple Octopus>JHS mod Soul Food (klon clone)>Catalinbread DLS) Dig the simplicity, portability (I’m in NYC also), and subtle classic versatility.
Hi Jeff, your pedalboard demo is one of the kindest and entertaining ways I've ever seen someone do this, I really enjoyed it. You achieve fantastic sounds and you helped me solve a problem: at the moment I'm using a Greer Lightspeed which I push with a RYRA Klone for solo sounds. The Vemuram has been on my wishlist for some time and I couldn't figure out, whether it would work with the RYRA. As the Mjolnir is a similar kind of pedal as the RYRA, I now know what this combination could sound like. So thank you very much for that insight. And congratulations to that beautiful, awesome looking and sounding Strat. What an inspiring instrument. Cheers, Michael
Hey Jeff I love your sound!! I am more of a tele guy but now you have convinced me to get a Strat! LOL! Do you know how to get a tone like the intro to Satisfaction by the Stones? Thank you again for posting. Really cool killer strat and pedalboard...
Thanks Jeff. I was listening to your new album yesterday. Killer tones! (and playing of course). This is really informative. The Strat sounds great but please don't forget your Les-Paul and Collings. Do you use the same drive pedals with humbucker loaded guitars btw?
Hi Jeff, thanks for the great video. I’m seriously looking at the Vemuram ODS1 based on this vid and other reviews. I like an overdrive that cuts through the mix in a live setting and wondered if you think it’s a good choice to achieve this. Would appreciate your thoughts. Thanks man, keep up the good work!
Jeff McErlain Hey Jeff, got this pedal now and I love it. As you said it’s sounds natural and amp like and I’m really digging it. Thanks again for the recommendation, I may have to try out the Mythos pedal as well now!!
I'm gonna grab a Metro 24. I'm old and lazy. Even my PT Jr seems too big these days. MJOLNIR sounded great I thought. I little tweaked compared to an actual Klon but I don't like it any less.
@@JeffMcErlain I ordered a Mjolnir! I needed a Klon with a smaller footprint. It'll be fun playing with that and the Timmy V3 proto that Paul Cochrane just sent me. :-)
Ha ha, I guess it was a bit oblique.. I think I should have said that I was delighted to find you on CZcams after not seeing you for quite some time.. Great to see you.. ; )
Always been a big fan. Came back to rewatch this on Brad Jeter’s recommendation. Good stuff. Thanks for all you do man.
Awesome playing Awesome Pedals great Tone ❤ 🔥

The Shanks is just a tasty drive that sounds so chewy and smooth. I need one!
Still my number one!
Probably the best pedal board I’ve ever heard nice playing too 👍

Superb sounding board. More importantly, great sounding fingers!
Thank you!
Thanks Jeff for taking us through this one! Great tone!
Sjaak Strik thanks!!
You're so cool! Why haven't I heard of you before now? Sone amazing tones you have got there, and masterly playing too man! I aspire to be like you!
Very cool!
Cheers for sharing this Jeff.
Graeme Ross you’re welcome!
I reviewed this Video and it has helped me get a grip on stacking pedals rather than have one gain pedals turned up too saturated.
Dave, Excellent!!! I’m very happy it helped. All the best.
Great video. Really helpful. Thanks

i hit like with 9:20 ..."all of it" i was going to anyway at the end, but had to hit it here!

spideymarino thanks!! I do use the same pedals with humbuckers. I just tweak them a bit gain wise usually.
awesome!
Awesome!!!
Thanks for posting this! Really enjoyed it. I’m curious how you have the bass control on your ODS-1 set? Thanks!!
I’ve left it on factory settings.
