      Yes! Don’t make sequels! But you can make films about if affect Ed his relationship s with friends and family and friends. Why is Elvis still such an icon today. Even naysayers , critics all sides. Elvis really should have been a 4hour movie.

      @@maryannemelenka9250 The second time I saw “Elvis” a cashier told a lady in line the movie was over two and a half hours long and the lady exclaimed “that’s almost 3 hours!” I turned to her looked her in her eyes and said, “You can never have too much Elvis” this movie could have been six hours and I would have seen it multiple times. The quality was just so good. Finally a movie that did him justice and wasn’t a hollow imitation. This was the mic drop of all Elvis movies.

      @@sweetbabynrs1 just watched the movie again last night. My bro saw it for the first time. This time we all felt a deep sense of sadness watching it. Elvis was so talented, yet, he was nothing more than Colonel Parker’s slave. Performing when & where he said. None of the dreams he had for his life fulfilled because they didn’t lineup with what Parker wanted. It was all very sad.

    •  Před 2 lety +1

      Well, it's not actually his very last live performance. It is from his last TOUR though. That performance was recorded in Rapid City, June 21 1977. His last performance was not professionally recorded, sadly, and happened at Indianapolis, on June 26. His last concert was much much better than both recorded for his last special "Elvis In Concert". 1977 was a very weird year for Elvis, but as said in the movie, he still had the passion for his music and fans.

    I absolutely loved this film. Austin Butler was AMAZING! He didn't look quite like the King but his mannerism, singing, gestures, speaking voice and body language were so well adapted that he just became Elvis. He put a lot of thought and serious effort into this role and he totally deserves an award. Tom Hanks also did an amazing job at portraying the villainous Parker. I mean, he had me hating him for the liberties and abuses of Elvis's generosity and naivety. This film just goes to prove that Elvis was one of a kind. He was truly a man who worked for the benefit of everyone he loved despite what it cost him. The exhaustion, the constant uppers and downers, the nonstop performances, he worked himself to death. I hate that he never got the world tour he so wanted to bring to his fans. Had it not been for Col. Parker's influence and abuses, who knows what Elvis's final years might have looked like. However, he is immortal through the works he left behind and we are fortunate to have them. RIP Elvis! You will always be with us!! 💕

    It is hard for most people to imagine the actual impact of E on the history of music. I was 29 years old when he died, I live in Memphis. The footage you see of the week after his death was astounding. This video shows where he was initially buried and the flowers sent... Memphis ran out of flowers. czcams.com/video/8FB5UlI8YCg/video.html The profession which drove down Elvis Presley Boulevard was lined both sides for miles many people deep. 45 years his death, 10's of thousands of people gather at Graceland to honor his memory. For a week to 10 days it is a virtual celebration of his life. There are lots of events for people to participate in. There is a candlelight vigil that lasts for hours and hours all night as people walk past his grave with a lit candle. It is a phenomenon and no other artist has anything near this response from fans. His home is the second most visited home in the United States,,, behind the White House. It has been 65 years since his star began to rise and we are still talking about him and making movies. He has finally gotten a movie that, while it might not be perfectly accurate, it depicts him, the Colonel, and his life in a way not known to many. He had major flaws which contributed to his demise, but there will never be another artist as loved as he was.... and is.... and will continue to be since new, young fans are made every day once they discover him. That is why the movie was so important. Now there is something great to tell his story.

    Elvis was overprescribed but those were also SUPER common medications back then and he was also having a bunch of actual health issues outside of the addiction (which did not help). But he had signs of an autoimmune disorder and other things going on that we barely had a handle on treating back then. And a lot of the meds they found in his system at his time of death were actually THE common migraine treatments all the way through the 1980s/early '90s. His liver was so damaged by that point that the codeine he was given for a dental thing impacted his already damaged heart. (If you can't process it correctly, it heightens the dose significantly.)

    The scene with the hound on television really happened on the Steve Allen. Allen had him sing Hound Dog in a tuxedo to the dog on television. The intent was to humiliate Presley and it succeeded. Presley never forgot or forgave Steve Allen for that. On the other hand he didn’t go in the army to avoid jail. He was simply drafted and chose to serve his two years like a normal soldier instead of going through special services.

    I can’t describe the emotions every time I see the movie it’s been about 3 times in the Cinema and in every occasion is so emotional I was crying. Austin Butler did a phenomenal job. He spent almost three years working in every step possible. His professionalism and love for the work when he’s portraying someone specifically Elvis here was incredible. Austin is singing Trouble with his real voice, 👏🏻. Another thing is that Elvis and Austin lost their mothers when they were 23 years old. Imagine the pain of Austin in that scene. Do you know that Austin improvised the Mmmmhh! When the Colonel said that he has to leave him. Another fact is that Austin also improvised the rehearsal of Las Vegas Show. Absolutely magnificent 👏🏻❤️I love Baz Lurhmann movies, Moulin Rouge, The Great Gatsby, Australia are ones best movies I have ever seen. Austin is so beautiful in and out.
    Oscar for Austin & Baz. After Austin finished the movie he went to the hospital, he got sick and because his adrenaline was low this affected him in real life. Loved your reactions. I cried again with you, 😢Thanks! And a big hello from Puerto Rico 😉

    I realize I'm a little late but I needed to say, It took about three watches for me to really like this movie, I've learned with Moulin Rouge with Baz Luhrmann films it usually takes awhile to get used to them. But yeah, it's really nice tribute to Elvis. Baz never intended for it to be a biopic and it isn't really, but at least it gave a younger audience an idea of how much of a big deal he was and still is. Elvis may have left the building but he'll still be in our hearts.

    I love the movie it was beautiful and Austin should definitely win an Oscar for his performance! Beautifully tragic to see him lose everything and still be a doll to carter until exhaustion and how it makes you feel dizzy and we can feel it is too much. I love how they did not erase Black music in it , showing the messed up way of thinking during the segregation and showing the true singers who inspired Elvis in his music, from what he took from also.
    However I would’ve like if they wouldn’t have romanticize so much his wedding with priscillia , when they met she was only 14 and he was almost 24. They married when she was still a minor (I think) and Elvis was kinda forced into marrying her by her parents. Furthermore he was known to cheating on his wife and liking « younger women »and «Being the first » to not say other things... if you know what I mean...Do with that information what you will...
    But I also understand that it was told through the lens of colonel Parker and that it was more a story of how he became the iconic legendary elvis Presley rather than who is Elvis Presley per say.
    Anyway I loved it anyway and it made me want to know more about Elvis hence the info and made me want to listen to his music again... I love the movie but I have still mixed feeling about Elvis as a person on some points after my research even if I agree with the fact that colonel Parker is a piece of shit that scammed Elvis and needs to get a reality check on how to not be so greedy and his moral status....and wasn’t it the point of this biopic anyway

    • @nenabunena
      @nenabunena Před 2 lety +7

      Elvis married Priscilla when she was almost 22 actually. Also back then people married early. Elvis' dad married at 17, Priscilla's mom married at 15, Elvis himself almost married his first gf at 19. When his relationships with his 2 1st gfs didn't work out, they married soon after in their teens as well. My mom married at 18 so did my grandmother, my great grandmother married at 15 to my great grandfather who was 25. Times were different then, people married early and in the south is also a bit more traditional than the rest of America, early marriages and age gaps were not weird there

    • @fannydoucoure4793
      @fannydoucoure4793 Před 2 lety +1

      @@nenabunena thanks for the info! I know and understand that it was another time and another mindset but even so, it still bugs me to know it, you know what I mean? I still can not rap my head around it and not cringe a little bit.
      But I don’t mean to disrespect or shame your family or people who were in this case, I even have some family in this case, I react the same way knowing this.
      I don’t have a problem with age gap normally but it is just knowing that they were still teenagers and minor that bugs me, after you do whatever you want. That is why I thought that Priscilla was still minor when they married and I was wrong. So it bugs me less now...
      Thanks anyway.

    Born in a river cabin in Berclair, Mississippi, B.B. King told a reporter in 2010 (via the San Antonio Examiner), that he felt a kinship for Elvis because both of them "were born poor in Mississippi, went through poor childhoods and we learned and earned our way through music.” That kinship and mutual struggle fostered a friendship between Elvis and King (played in Elvis by Cyrano’s Kelvin Harrison Jr.), with the pair frequently talking music together. In the interview, King discusses how he and Elvis agreed that “Music is owned by the whole universe. It isn't exclusive to the black man or the white man or any other color. It shared in and by our souls...” King continues, “I told Elvis once, and he told me he remembered I told him this, is that ‘music is like water. Water is for every living person and every living thing.'”
    In King’s autobiography, Blues All Around Me, King also recalls how Elvis orchestrated a show for him at the Hilton Hotel in 1972. King claims (via the San Antonio Examiner) that Elvis “put in a call” and booked King a show in the lounge while Elvis played in the hotel’s main theater. This was likely difficult for Elvis who had long been under the thumb of his tyrannical manager Colonel Tom Parker (a.k.a. “The Snowman”). However, this was something Elvis did several times throughout his career. King speaks fondly about their shows together, saying that they would often wind up in Elvis’ suite after the shows, talking and playing music. “I'd play Lucille (his guitar) and sing with Elvis, or we'd take turns. It was his way of relaxing'…'We were the original Blues Brothers because that man knew more blues songs than most in the business - and after some nights it felt like we sang everyone one of them.”
    Meanwhile, others, like former music editor for Pride Magazine, Helen Kolawole, claim that Elvis appropriated the songs of Black artists getting rich and famous from other’s work. On that idea, BB King has also spoken out, writing in his autobiography (via Vanity Fair) that "Elvis didn’t steal any music from anyone. He just had his own interpretation of the music he’d grown up on, same is true for everyone. I think Elvis had integrity.”
    Richard added: “We was one of many major doorways that got here by way of. Chuck Berry was one other door himself. And we’re not saying that Elvis wasn’t a major door. I might by no means say that. As a result of Elvis began white individuals to essentially sing rock ‘n’ roll”.
    After Presley’s loss of life, Little Richard grieved the lack of a great good friend and an inspiring musician. “I like him. That’s my buddy, my child. I like him. We’re superb pals, and it was a really nice loss to the music world,” he stated in an interview following Elvis’ loss of life in 1977. “Elvis is likely one of the best performers who ever lived on this world.”
