  • USS Nevada (BB-36) was a resilient battleship that served from World War I through World War II. She survived the attack on Pearl Harbor, where she was the only battleship to get underway during the assault. After extensive repairs, she supported operations in both the Atlantic and Pacific, including D-Day and the invasions of Iwo Jima and Okinawa. Following the war, Nevada was used in atomic bomb tests at Bikini Atoll, surviving two blasts. In 1948, she was finally sunk as a target during a naval exercise after withstanding heavy fire and torpedoes.
    Lyrics:
From the waves of the Atlantic to the Pacific's might,
USS Nevada, a symbol of the fight.
Launched in the years before the storm,
A battleship of power, resilience, and form.
    December morning, forty-one,
Pearl Harbor attacked, the war had begun.
Amidst the chaos, bombs raining from the sky,
Nevada stood firm, she wouldn’t say die.
She took the hits, she took the fire,
But Nevada’s spirit would never tire.
Through smoke and flames, she sailed with pride,
The unsinkable Nevada, our nation’s guide.
Rising from the harbor, scarred but strong,
Repaired and ready, it didn’t take long.
From the shores of Normandy to the Pacific front,
Nevada pressed on, bearing the brunt.
She faced the kamikazes, she faced the shells,
Through every battle, through every hell.
From Iwo Jima’s sands to Okinawa’s shore,
    Nevada survived, asking for more.
She took the hits, she took the fire,
But Nevada’s spirit would never tire.
Through smoke and flames, she sailed with pride,
The unsinkable Nevada, our nation’s guide.
She took the hits, she took the fire,
But Nevada’s spirit would never tire.
Through smoke and flames, she sailed with pride,
The unsinkable Nevada, our nation’s guide.
She faced the kamikazes, she faced the shells,
Through every battle, through every hell.
From Iwo Jima’s sands to Okinawa’s shore,
    Nevada survived, asking for more.
At war’s end, she had one last test,
An atomic trial, to prove she’s the best.
At Bikini Atoll, the bombs fell near,
But Nevada stayed strong, showing no fear.
Marked with scars, but still afloat,
In the heart of Nevada, a warrior’s note.
From the war's first strike to its final breath,
    Nevada endured, defying death.
She took the hits, she took the fire,
But Nevada’s spirit would never tire.
Through smoke and flames, she sailed with pride,
The unsinkable Nevada, our nation’s guide.
But even heroes meet their end,
In '48, the guns did send.
Fired upon by Iowa torpedoes and more,
She took nine days to settle the score.
Though she sank, she left her mark,
The unsinkable Nevada, forever in our hearts.

@@ABeastMadeOfSteel Yeah ... it only took around 2500 shells and about 60 minutes of constant bombardment to sink the Bismarck. Without the Bismarck firing back mind you.

@@kleineratte7678 Yeah, but it was rendered combat ineffective relatively early on in the fight. The salvo that sank Hood also disabled their own rangefinding equipment. The ship literally was cornered because a single torpedo disabled the rudder. A ship doesn't need to sink for it to be considered lost. The British also didn't need to send as many ships as they did, a few battleships could have done the job.

@@ABeastMadeOfSteel Since you like i guess the bismarck why don't you make a song about her sister Tirpitz. Honestly one of the most targeted battleship in history. Bombed or attacked like 13-14 times and had to make a Earthquake bomb just to damage it hard enough. Even if it was only once she/he (germans used both genders for ships) fired her/his cannons at a soviet artic base. It costed RAF a lot of resources and time just to sink her/him. Btw these are only ideas, you don't need to do it.
