    Idea for large ebike battery. ...fabricate a clamp on/ bolts onto frame battery holder /protective cage .Have it clamp on the frame down low for a low center of gravity.Have the battery pack spilt in 2 sections (two battery packs )so one mounts in the battery holder cage on each side of frame.the bolt on battery holder serves 2 purposes #1 to hold battery #2 to protect battery during a crash (like engine guards on a motorcycle )the bracket would be made to bolt onto the frame without needing to drill holes in the frame (a drawn picture would give you a better idea)

    I am planning to convert my bike (13 Incline alpha) to electric using a mid drive motor, but I have a problem. The cables for gear changing are routed through the down tube, so it is bigger than the bottom bracket and it has a gap between it and the bracket for the cables to go out (about 15mm). It is similar to a 2021 Trek Marlin 6.Can I still fit a Bafang motor on or I should go for a hub? thanks in advance.

    the front feels "sketchy" because its rear hub feed with rear suspension, tighten up the rear suspension and it will put down the power better and not feel as front end loose. If he wants stability max out the rear suspension or use a hard tail.

      @@colinsmith3938 To each their own, I'm not going to judge you based on your project bike. It's great that people are creative with their builds and taking the electric bike scene to new levels, however we MUST to do it safely.
      Health wise weight on your back is not a good idea. Cartilage is nothing like muscle and is not forgiving to weight.
      You will also be top heavy which would make you less stable than others.
      I understand the thrill of e-bikes, I have two of my own. One for my weekly shopping and one for thrills. I more than understand the lust for more speed, power and range.
      I also understand the pain of coming off the bike and slamming into a brick wall at over 30mph. I walked away with minor injury's, but I would doubt that with a solid battery on my back, that is also live and could also be pulling a bike with it to hit me from behind after I've already gone into the wall.

    Hi Im thinking of building an ebike, I was planning on getting something from eBay and going down cheap route. It doesn't need to be super fast as it's just for getting me too and from work mostly. Do you have any suggestions and a few tips?

      i recommend whatever you choose just make sure to get the battery from someone who sells brand cells like Samsung, Sanyo, LG etc. They last longer and are certified way more than cheaper ones and I think safer too.

    gad the same problem with my Santa Cruz heckler now have the batteries on the top tube and 1 on a rack on the back works ok bit heavy now. chuck another 1500w motor on the front much faster and very torquey with 2 motors more efficient czcams.com/video/B3_P46C_Rm0/video.html

    Nah...brakes...all the set up looks very untidy not for me...bike frame to small...looks like a teenager's school delivery paper runner...Andy with all your skills please give them your expertise and check all the wiring connectors it looks like a electrical time bomb.203mm discs upfront with 4 pots and 180 four pots on the back and the front handle bars to low..needs a steam riser.

    • @andykirby
      @andykirby  Před 3 lety +1

      Hey Patrick, it was a bit of a test rig, the proper battery mounting is being fabricated at the moment, the frame is a small yes because Steve rides a smaller bike. You are right about the handlebars he has since changed the stem and it handles way better now. Also agree with you about the 203 4 pot on the front, it would make a lot of difference but they are pretty pricey. Hope you are well mate.

    Wtf are yous doing, electronic yes mechanical not got a clue. Rear wheel motor ... why? Midrive for mtb. And you shoudl have mounted the battery under the downtube instead of under the top tube. Keep.the weight as central.and low as possible. I have a full suspension mtb with the battery inside the frame, so it is possible.
